Bien que la nourriture capture efficacement le goût des collations traditionnelles, les avis restent mitigés concernant les prix et la taille des portions, jugés parfois trop élevés. Des préoccupations ont également été soulevées quant à l'excès de gras sur certains plats frits et à l'absence de riz, mais l'établissement demeure une destination prisée pour savourer des encas uniques et nostalgiques qui sont autrement difficiles à trouver en ville.
Franchement, l'empanada était plutôt bonne. Visuellement, elle donnait super envie, la pâte avait un super croustillant & la farce était vraiment pleine de saveurs. En plus, le petit vinaigre à côté apportait une touche d'acidité hyper sympa. Le seul vrai problème & c'est ce qui l'empêche d'être excellent, c'est qu'elle était beaucoup trop grasse. Je pense que l'huile n'était pas assez chaude au moment de la friture, du coup la pâte a agi comme une éponge & a absorbé beaucoup trop de gras. En tant que grande fan d'empanadas, c'est dommage parce qu'il y avait un vrai potentiel, mais ce côté huileux m'a un peu écoeurée & ne m'a pas donné envie d'en reprendre une deuxième.
I was excited to try Tusok Tusok & drove 35 minutes to visit for the first time. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.
After placing my order for fish balls & kikiam , I waited for over 30 minutes without any update. When I went back to the cashier to ask about my order, the staff realized they had completely forgotten it. There was no communication!
To make matters worse, I had already left a tip before receiving my food, & based on the service I experienced, it was not deserved.
I understand that mistakes can happen, but this level of service is unacceptable. I hope the team improves their attention to customers & ensures that every order is handled properly. Future customers should not have to remind the staff to prepare the food they already paid for.
The food was just okay overall. Unfortunately, the taho tasted sour & was quite bland, which was disappointing. The balut also didn't have any juice at all & was dry. The portions were surprisingly small for the price, making the meal feel overpriced. It was an interesting place to try once, but not somewhere I'd personally return to.

The food brings back a lot of childhood memories. I got the four-piece box, where you get two skewers each, & I also got the Ilocos Empanada. Honestly, it was amazing. I would definitely go there again. It's definitely something that brings a lot of warmth in my heart to feel again what I felt back in my country.
The empanadas were amazing! The crisp on them 😋 Took two to go lol.. The fish & squid balls remind me of my aunt's cart back in the Philippines & that fresh Taho.. omg.. very delicious. The sauces were good too. The price honestly seems reasonable to me. We took the box & one empanada & two drinks & we were full. Bill came to $44 with tip. The only thing I would have wanted was maybe rice on the side lol.. I know it doesn't go with the theme but hey, Filipinos need rice with their ulam lol
Please drain the empanadas before giving them to the clients. My bag & my food was soaking in grease. It's so heavy, that I regret getting two of everything at the restaurant. As other reviewers said, it's a little high in price, but I guess that's due to minimum wage/needing to balance out costs. I'd only come back for the taho.
Tusok-Tusok has been serving Filipino street food since opening in Montreal, & it's great to see a spot dedicated to the snacks many Filipinos grew up enjoying. It might even be one of the first places in the city to focus almost entirely on authentic Filipino street food, which makes it worth checking out.
The kwek-kwek is a must-order-the batter is crispy & flavorful, especially with the signature sauce. I also highly recommend the grilled intestines (isaw), which are well-grilled & bring back that true street food experience.
The only downside is the pricing. The portions are on the smaller side for what you pay, but considering they're operating out of a large commercial space in Montreal, it's understandable that rent & overhead likely play a role in the cost.
Overall, if you're craving authentic Filipino street food or want to introduce someone to these classic snacks, Tusok-Tusok is definitely worth a visit.
I really enjoyed this spot, especially the ilocos empanadas, I recommend you guys try those! I don't think you can order them anywhere else in Montreal! Skewers were yummy too, I liked the kwek kwek, the fish balls & the kikiam.
