Review Summary

Overall, reviews describe Tsukuyomi Ramen as a visually striking, cozy space with Japan-inspired decor and a lively vibe that many find engaging, though a few note it can be noisy or busy; the staff are repeatedly praised for friendly, knowledgeable service and speedy attention, with reservations recommended during peak times. The ramen earns widespread praise for depth of flavor, well-balanced broths, and generous portions, especially tonkotsu and miso varieties, while some bowls are described as excellent and others as good but with room for improvement, such as noodles or the egg in certain dishes or the vegan ramen not meeting expectations. Appetizers like gyoza and karaage are commonly liked, and the beer or sake offerings are highlighted as a nice pairing, with the location noted for value and consistency compared with similar spots in Montreal. A few reviews mention changes or inconsistencies over time, or preferences for certain bowls over others, but the overall sentiment is that Tsukuyomi Ramen provides an authentic feel and is a standout option for ramen in the area, with plans to return.

First time at that place. The reviews were good & the ambiance is quite interesting ! Liked the place :)
I took the vegan ramen & my partner the Mazamen.

The mazamen was good, the ramen though was lacking a lot. Canned corn was underwhelming... adn the broth was really bland.

Also, my partner had trouble digesting the mazamen... I'll spare you the details.

I wanted to like this place, but there are far better vegan ramen options in Montreal. Liked the noodles though, they were great.

After coming back from our honeymoon in Japan, my wife & I started noticing a painful pattern. Every ramen place we tried felt like a messy remix of a beloved classic, the kind where the original melody is there somewhere, but it's buried under auto tune, unnecessary bass drops, & one guy yelling his producer tag every ten seconds. Technically ramen, spiritually off key.

Funny thing is, we had actually been to Tsukuyomi Ramen before our trip. We liked it at the time, but we didn't quite understand how good it really was. Then we went to Japan, got spoiled silly, came home, & bounced from one disappointing bowl to another. By the time we circled back to Tsukuyomi, we were honestly scared that it would disappoint us too. Nothing hits quite like the fear of discovering your old favorite was only good before you knew better.

So we went back to Tsukuyomi anyway, hoping for the best & bracing for heartbreak.

The bowls landed, my wife took one sip, & she delivered the verdict we'd been chasing.'Japan good.'

Not Canada good, not almost there, not good in a nostalgic way. Actually Japan good. The broth has real depth, the noodles have the right bite, & the entire bowl finally matched the harmony we remembered from the ramen shops we visited on our trip.

& as a bonus, they are also the only spot we have found in Montreal with actually good Yuzu beer. Not a knockoff citrus beer pretending to be fancy, but the real crisp refreshing deal that pairs perfectly with a proper bowl.

It turns out Tsukuyomi had been the real deal all along. We just needed the round trip to appreciate it.

If you have been mourning the loss of proper ramen since coming back from Japan, this place is the one that finally hits the right chords. For us, it was like rediscovering a favorite record & realizing it always sounded better than the remixes.

Fast service, reasonable prices. Great generous portions. Broth was beautiful. Noodles need a little improvement.

Kara-age was so perfectly crisp & juicy but my ramen was served with thin noodles that looked like angel hair pasta, probably the worst option for ramen. It's my own fault for not asking for specifics because one of the ramen said'thick' noodle which I assumed was udon or similar. Turned out thick was standard ramen size & thin was an abomination. The broth was also a bit fatty for my taste. The chasu was one of the best I've had, thick cut, juicy, & sweet & the shiitake was a revelation, get extra if you go. I also had the raw salmon side & it was good, nothing spectacular but nice sesame flavour. If I went back I would focus on the sides & try the donburi. For atmosphere I found it too bright.

Great atmosphere! Really beautiful design! The place looks magical.
I ordered a vegetarian ramen, but I didn't love the dish. The broth lacked flavor in my opinion, & the tofu was uncooked or dried or fried which was meh. I've had better selections of add-ons in other places but overall it was tasty, but not great.

Easily the best ramen in Montreal. It reminds me a lot of the flavorful ramen I had many times in Tokyo.

The yuzu nanban chicken is crispy & slightly spicy, but the sourness refreshes your taste.

The tonkotsu ramen, oh heaven, is so flavorful. The texture of the broth is both creamy & clear! The pork is in good portion, & amazingly doesn't have the smelly pig smell that many ramen shops in Montreal have that really turns people off. Truly well done!

One of the best ramen in town: creamy smooth broth with 2 big pieces of chashu & silky ramen noodles. Love the decorations. The staff are very friendly. Food is served fast & timely. It's definitely one of my favorite ramen places

Great Vegan dishes. We got the cold broth, sesame & soy based ramens. Delicious!! Service was amazing. We were curious about the cold broth ramen flavours. Server asked the chef & they were happy to let us know. Very cool feel in the restaurant. Konnichiwa from YEG Vegans

We've been to the Bois Franc branch a few times, & this was our first visit to the Bishop location. We happened to be there during La Semaine Japon, so with 20% off the mazemen, we decided to give it a try. We ordered the chashu mazemen & the chashu asari shio ramen. As always, the service was quick & the ramen did not disappoint. We especially enjoyed the creamy, rich mazemen. The asari shio ramen had a clean, clear broth-refreshing, though we still personally prefer the bold, classic flavour of their tonkotsu ramen with black garlic oil. Still, this remains one of our favourite ramen spots in town.

Japanese night out with a friend to talk travel-& fuel up right!
I went for the Tonkotsu Ramen: rich homemade creamy pork bone broth with thin noodles, chashu, green onion, kikurage, egg, & nori.
She chose the Maze Men: cold brothless noodles topped with salad, tomato, crispy onions, a poached egg, & tender chicken.
Comfort food, great company, & future adventures on the menu!

Staff, service, & ambiance were all fantastic. The place is very cool looking & has a fun vibe. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the food. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu ramen with chashu. I found the broth to be boring & lacking depth of flavor. It was also extremely oily & salty, I felt like I was being fed spoonfuls of bacon fat. I have had tonkotsu ramen many times, & unfortunately this one ranks close to the bottom. The pork belly was salty & the piece of meat was mostly fat. If that's your thing, this is the place to be. The spice adds a much needed balance in flavor to the broth. The portion size is adequate. Although the people are very nice & the cool vibe, I would not bother coming back to this place again.

Every time I come here, it's for their wasabi octopus (Takowasa) appetizer that I have never seen from other places yet

Very rich broth for tonkotsu & miso, good portion to be full

But the salmon iuke don (big) was just not the best, maybe it's the rice (soggy & not fresh) that just wasn't doing it right

Amazing ramen!! Broth was so flavorful, chashu was well balanced between fat & meat. Karaage was very tasty. Highly recommend.

Thick savory broth that feels the most authentic in Montreal. The setting is pretty cool, a great place to try in person.

Always hits the spot. No noodle choice, &, in my linking, too thin. Eggs were well marinated. Broth was right on.

This place has the most delicious ramen in Montreal. We tried the miso ramen with chashu & it was out of this world. The broth was really flavorful with the right amount of everything.

Not very good. Had their original pork ramen. It was kinda sad. Broth was alright but not much in the bowl, pork seemed close to expiring, noodles clumpy. No choice of thin or thick noodles presented. Decor is nice. Wait staff seem elsewhere. The big ramen chain Kinton down the street does it better. Was hoping this would have a more artisanal vibe. But it seems just as loveless a place.
