As others have said, this place used to be good.
I went yesterday & was really disappointed. The tonkotsu ramen with chasu (pork) was very bland, I had to put a bunch of hot sauce in it to give it flavour. The piece of pork was small & dry. The noodles were below average. The ramen bowls are small compared to other places. But really the worst part is it gave me food poisoning! An hour or so after I got home (& didn't eat anything else) I suddenly had diarrhea, nausea & exhaustion. A few hours later I felt better & today I feel fine so I know that it was not a flu but indeed something I ate here.
The reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is that the service was okay (it was quick, although not overly friendly & it felt a bit rushed) & the Karaage & yuzu beer were decent. The decor is also cute.
I won't be coming back unfortunately. Has the chef or management changed or something? Because I see I'm not the only one who's been disappointed (or ill from their food!) as of late :(View more
As a neighbourhood ramen joint, it's decent, but far from one of the best ramen in Montreal. The broth lacks depth & I'm not fond of the thin white noodles. IMHO, I find nearby Nakamichi, Yokato Yokabai, even Ramen-Ya have better ramen than this place.
Also they cook their broth in sequential batches - what kind of ramen joint only has one pot simmering at a time??? Once I arrived at 12:20pm & did not realize I had just missed a batch. Fortunately I had something to read, but realized over 30 minutes had passed, a rather long time to wait for ramen during lunch hour rush. This means that the guy who got seated next to me 20 minutes after I arrived, only got to wait 10 minutes for his ramen.
If they had communicated this to me when I ordered, it would have helped. But no, I had to ask the server why it was taking 35 minutes to make a bloody bowl of ramen.
Edit: It's been a few years now & I have never come back since. So many better ramen alternatives out there! With prompt service!View more
My go to for ramen. Broth is MGS free & the Tonkotsu one is the best. The wood counter makes it feel like an Izakaya in Japan. Staff are always friendly & one bowl or ramen will fill you up for sureView more
A delicious bowl of ramen. Broth was flavorful, noodles perfectly cooked & pork chashu tender with a hint of smoke. The chicken karaage was super juicy on the inside & came in a very generous portion. Will definitely be back again.View more
We both enjoyed our ramen. The cold one was especially refreshing on a hot summer day! The broth one was very comforting & flavourful! Friendly service, great atmosphere, not too loud inside! Would love to come back to try other dishes. Someone ordered the kaarage rice bowl nearby & it looked soo good!View more
Long time customer, since their opening. Over the years, there has been many many changes, some good, some disappointing. The very first iteration of the cold ramen (the one with the noodles in an ice bowl & the most delicious dipping sauce ever) was fantastic. The tonkotsu always has been good but sometimes the egg is freezing cold, sometimes the chashu is a very small slice sometimes very generous & thick. Overall, it always was my to-go place. But recently, I am absolutely sure they changed the noodles, which is like the most important part of a ramen bowl. They used to taste fresh & natural. Now, they have that dry & starchy mouthfeel, like the commercial processed noodles we get in instant noodles. They no longer feel bouncy & chewy at all. Just undercooked dehydrated store-bought noodles. They say they didn't change it but the staff there is always new, so they have no clue of the precedent menus over the years. Anyway, broth is still good but the noodles are not worth it anymore. Will now get my ramen fix at NakamichiView more
We were served quickly & our food was delivered as quickly! Ramen was delicious but I felt the quantity was small for a $20 bowl.View more
I used to come here when they first opened & it was great. Came back recently after a year & noticed the portion of ramen got smaller & is served in a plastic bowl which I don't appreciate so much when am paying 20$ for a hot soup, its not as charming I find & doesn't keep the heat as well. I arrived close to closing time & understand it can be frustrating as the staff wants to finish their night but asking me to pay for my bill 5 minutes after I've gotten my food, then put the chairs up around me followed by turning off the music felt a bit rude. I've worked in restaurants for a long time & I definitely know & believe there are gentler & more polite ways to let clients know you are closing.& it's not like I was going to linger there, just wanted to finish my beer & food. It felt like I was at a fast food joint. The broth tasted good still, at least, & waiter was friendly omit everything.View more
Let's start with the obvious here. The prices aren't matching the quantity you get but I guess that's inflation for ya, yeah? 7,50$ for 4 Takoyaki, same thing for that tiny glass of peach cocktail 20$ for the ramen bowl A bit excessive but hey, you decide if it's worth it for you. Food was good, nothing out of this world but it was good. Service was okay too. Atmosphere is okay but it seems really popular so come early if you want a spot, especially if you're a big group. The place isn't that big.View more
Izakaya gostoso, ambiente descolado. Opções de ramen (veggie também) e entradas diversas, assim como bowls de arroz + proteína (pedi o de salmão e achei muito pouco salmão). Kara-age e gyoza muito bons! Ramen de porco e molho de carne bem saboroso! Bom preço. Atendimento mediano. Estava bem movimentadoView more
