About

Trip de Bouffe specializes in authentic Lebanese culinary traditions by offering a menu centered on fresh, high-quality ingredients and classic Mediterranean flavors. Diners encounter a variety of traditional mezze, including silky hummus and smoky baba ghanoush, prepared with aromatic spices and premium olive oil. The kitchen utilizes traditional grilling techniques for succulent meat skewers that emphasize charred, savory profiles synonymous with the region. Crisp salads featuring fresh parsley, bulgur, and bright lemon dressings accompany hearty pita wraps served with pickled vegetables. The dining environment maintains a functional, straightforward aesthetic suitable for quick service and focused eating experiences. Patrons consistently select from established staples like falafel, shish tawook, and flaky spinach fatayer which represent the foundation of this specific culinary heritage within the local food scene.

Review Summary

Trip de Bouffe consistently earns praise as a top-tier destination in Montreal for authentic, delicious Lebanese cuisine, with many customers highlighting the quality of the sandwiches, falafels, and fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is frequently described as warm and welcoming, largely due to a friendly and attentive staff who go out of their way to provide excellent service and helpful recommendations. While some patrons note that prices can be on the higher side for certain items, the general consensus is that the value remains high given the care, freshness, and consistency of the food. Whether visitors are stopping in for a quick snack, a hearty meal, or picking up ready-made dishes to go, the restaurant is widely considered a reliable and standout choice in the community.

It was a rainy October afternoon when I decided to stop by Trip de Bouffe to grab a quick lunch. Usually when I walk by, the place has a lineup to the door, but likely due to the weather - & my late lunch - the restaurant had a calm energy I've rarely seen there.

Inside, there's a small seating area by the window flanked by walls covered with art & local event fliers. Towards the counter are shelves stacked with Lebanese snacks & desserts along with fridges filled with ready to eat meals & Lebanese cheeses.

I scanned the extensive menu & ordered a Poulet Regulier: marinated chicken with cheese rolled into a soft pita with pickled turnip, tomato, onion, olive, labneh & mint.

I only realized afterwards that adding all these toppings is an extra $2.50 (+$1 for the labneh) - which turned my $9 pita into $14. A fair price but more than I planned to spend on lunch.

The pita was delicious & the addition of the mint was a clever way to add sweetness while the Labneh (soft cheese) added creaminess to the mix. I do wish there was a bit more chicken but as a whole it was quite substantial.

The atmosphere here really shines in the summer, when avenue mont-royal is pedestrian & you can enjoy your meal on their outdoor set up of tables & chairs.
