Review Summary

At Toucheh the warm cozy atmosphere and family run service accompany a menu that blends Persian and Italian influences. The dining experience draws praise for fresh flavorful dishes and attentive staff. Diners highlight standout items such as chencheh kebabs, pastas, lentil soup, and desserts, with brunch and BYOB noted as appealing features. The atmosphere is described as welcoming and suitable for dates or casual meals, though some critics find portions for Iranian dishes smaller than expected and a few dishes not at the same level as professional kitchen cooking, along with high prices for some items. The open kitchen and busy ambiance can be a factor, and occasional reservation hiccups have occurred but were addressed. Parking can be a hassle on certain visits. Overall the restaurant is regarded as one of the better Persian options in the area, with a charming setting and a mix of flavors that invites return visits.

My wife & I & three teenagers were mildly pleased with the food at Toucheh. Although the service was good (two scaloppini dishes & three penne dishes), our concern with the evening occurred after we had completed our meals. My Visa card, which I have used successfully without exception in Canada & many other different countries, was not accepted because the waiter stated that the card machine only worked with a PIN number, which my Visa card did not require. After I had to leave my family in the restaurant & withdraw money from an ATM a block away, & gave the waiter cash at his register for the bill that required about $50 in change, he did not give me change but insisted that I tell him what tip I would give him. I said a $15 tip, which was about 10% because of my embarrassing walk to the ATM & what I thought was less than exceptional food taking into account the price. He then gave me $15 in change! After I protested, he returned $25 saying that I should pay 15% - I "agreed" but with the intention of not returning again. In the circumstances I think that I should have had the option to decide on the tip myself.
