Review Summary

Tommy Café is widely celebrated for its stunning architecture and inviting, cozy atmosphere situated in the heart of Old Montreal, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Many visitors praise the high quality of the coffee, particularly the lattes and espresso-based drinks, alongside a variety of fresh pastries and flavorful brunch options like avocado toast. While the unique, multi-level seating and vibrant decor contribute to an aesthetic experience, the cafe is frequently very busy, which can lead to limited seating and wait times. Opinions on the service and food consistency remain mixed, as some guests appreciate the friendly and accommodating staff, while others find the pricing high and the environment crowded. Ultimately, it remains a go-to spot for those seeking a memorable cafe experience in a beautiful historic setting.

I wish they had locations outside of Quebec! The breakfast sandwich really hit the spot & coffee terrific!
We went to a few different locations & found that the downtown spot only had the breakfast sandwiches- in old montreal it was more of a sit down space.
If you need an avocado toast fix or a matcha this is your place!

Stumbled upon Tommy Café last Saturday while exploring the neighbourhood & immediately felt at home with the warm lighting & low-key vibe. I ordered their avocado toast & it was honestly one of the better versions I've had in the city, perfectly seasoned with a nice crunch. The staff were super friendly & didn't rush me even though I camped out for a couple hours with my laptop. Definitely coming back next weekend, this spot has become my new favourite Saturday morning ritual.

Window seats, delicious Lox Toast & Co 5+ (& very easy to share) & a Flora Tommy Fizz (Hibiscus, berries, elderflower, chamomile tea, soda & fresh lavender & rose petals). This is a morning must in Old Montreal.

Stumbled upon this gem during f1 weekend 2026. We needed coffee & this sounded nice but not nearly as nice as we expected. Small inside but offer a large personality from the decor to the staff & the food. The food, I order the shakshuka which im familiar with but never tried before. INCREDIBLE 10/10 roasted red pepper sauce was full of flavor & eggs cooked to perfection, only recommendation is order & extra side of toast. My party also tried the Georgia toast AMAZING sweet roasted peaches, tange creamy goat cheese with the sweet heat from the hot honey. The addition of homemade chili oil was a great touch. The drinks SENSATIONAL! Ordered espresso martinis & its hands down the best one I have ever had, strong espresso flavor perfected sweetness with a cinnamon decoration on top added the scent of cinnamon without being overpowering. Finally the staff, during the crazy busy f1 weekend people in & out the staff handled everything very well even with people waiting out the door the kitchen was keeping up & wait times were perfectly reasonable. Aidan was our server & was amazingly kind & helpful throughout our experience.

Beautiful cafe with loads of comfortable seating options. The service was very kind & accommodating even during busy times. The avocado toasts are delicious & HUGE. Very easily shareable item. The bread they used was soft yet structured with the perfect amount of grill.

This cafe is very very nice on the inside, I highly recommend studying here or having breakfast here because it is very lovely & busy! Their ice latte is sooo good, it's not bitter & it's sweet! The avocado toast is very big, I recommend that if you come in pairs to share it with one person, it's also quite bland, but it's a light & good breakfast to start your day with. The croissant egg avocado is yummy, & I liked the garden salad that came with it! The croissant adds flavour to the dish.

Le matcha latte est vraiment le plus horrible I ever got in Montreal, le toast Athena trop salé & over priced pour ce que c'est

We absolutely loved having breakfast here! I had the classic avocado toast on gluten free bread with an egg on top & it was very, very good. My partner had the breakfast croissant sandwich which came with salad on the side & he really enjoyed it. We got chai lattes that were the perfect temperature & not too sweet. Tommy Cafe is a quirky place with a really nice vibe. Great to pop in for a hot drink or grab a pastry or a bite to eat. Seems very popular with locals & tourists alike. As a bonus I also got the gluten free lemon cake to take away & it was divine. We will definitely be returning!
