Tommy Café operates within a historically significant architectural space featuring high ceilings, intricate crown moldings, and large windows that fill the interior with natural light. The interior design utilizes marble counters and brass accents to create a distinct visual identity reflective of classic European coffee culture. Tables remain arranged to accommodate individual remote work or brief social meetings throughout the expansive floor plan. This destination maintains a reputation for reliable beverage standards and consistent product delivery across its professional service team. The overall atmosphere prioritizes efficiency while maintaining a focus on high-quality caffeinated offerings and refined pastry selections.
Tommy Café is widely celebrated for its stunning architecture and inviting, cozy atmosphere situated in the heart of Old Montreal, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Many visitors praise the high quality of the coffee, particularly the lattes and espresso-based drinks, alongside a variety of fresh pastries and flavorful brunch options like avocado toast. While the unique, multi-level seating and vibrant decor contribute to an aesthetic experience, the cafe is frequently very busy, which can lead to limited seating and wait times. Opinions on the service and food consistency remain mixed, as some guests appreciate the friendly and accommodating staff, while others find the pricing high and the environment crowded. Ultimately, it remains a go-to spot for those seeking a memorable cafe experience in a beautiful historic setting.
We decided to visit this place because it is very popular on TikTok, but let me tell you the reality: if you are not an aggressive person, don't bother coming here. We arrived in a group of 11 people, including a toddler, & this cafe is definitely not stroller-friendly.While we were waiting for a table to open up, I noticed a family of four had just finished dining, so I asked if they were about to leave. As soon as the table became open, I put my backpack on one of the chairs to claim it. Suddenly, a family of three just rushed in & stole our spot. I argued with them, but they were already sitting down & refused to move.It was incredibly frustrating, so we ended up leaving. Surprisingly, the staff did not care at all; no one even tried to intervene. This place is absolutely not worth it. We ended up eating at Mason instead, which we enjoyed a lot because the staff there were actually friendly.
I've been here twice recently. Once I had an iced latte with an amandine, & it was delicious. I also tried a sandwich, which was good but nothing special. The café itself is beautiful & has a lovely atmosphere.
Was really looking forward to trying this location given all the good reviews. It was nearly 3pm before I arrived so maybe the staff were tired but they were very grumpy & rude. Food was fine..wouldn't return

Great atmosphere. Quality of the coffee does not warrant the price. Food was good, & I'm being generous using that word. Service was fast, but they need to be, because of the large amount of traffic. Guess it doesn't take much to please a crowd.
Tommy Café in Old Montréal definitely lives up to its popularity.
We had the spicy tuna sandwich & the salmon avocado toast, & both were fresh, flavorful, & beautifully presented.
The ingredients tasted high quality, & the portions were satisfying for brunch.
The café was very busy & we had to wait for a table, but the atmosphere made it worth it. The space has a stylish, vibrant design that fits perfectly with the charm of Old Montréal, making it a great spot to relax or catch up with friends.
Despite how crowded it was, the staff remained genuinely friendly, welcoming, & efficient throughout our visit.
If you're exploring the area & don't mind a bit of a wait during peak hours, Tommy Café is definitely worth stopping by for both the food & the overall experience.
Great little coffee shop. I visited here every day of my trip! Baristas were all very nice & friendly. Great coffee & pastries. The croissants were amazing! There is also a loft area for seating which is perfect for studying or meeting with friends, colleagues, etc. Be sure to get there early because seating can fill up quick!
