Review Summary

Overall, reviews paint Tommy Café as a stylish, cozy spot with a lively yet relaxed vibe and a solid coffee program. Morning drip coffee is praised, while some note afternoon batches can be burnt, and the cappuccino is described as rich with milk, with a cheaper cortado option. Pastries and food get strong marks, including croissants, pistachio croissants, mango or matcha items, but some dishes can be hit or miss and a few items are considered pricey. The ambience and decor are repeatedly highlighted as attractive, with seating options and a friendly, attentive staff, though service times vary and there are comments about slow orders when staff chat in another language. The cafe is seen as a good place to meet friends, work or relax, with many noting it as a regular spot, and some mention the upstairs seating or the cute vibe. A few reviews mention value concerns, like high prices for avocado toast or plant based milks surcharge, but many still recommend visiting for the overall experience. It's described as a dependable option downtown Montreal and a reliable choice for coffee and casual bites with consistent quality, though comparisons to other spots vary.

Delicious Avocado Toast, big portion!

Nice corner in downtown this café is located. Good service. Vibe is nice. My latte is excellent. Avocado toast is good too. The big downside is the price is over expensive. A total rip off. An avocado toast for 20$??? Seriously? It is better to make my own toast at home.

Cereals in latte Whoaa it was interesting. The avocado toast was surprisingly good. The portion was huge too (twice the size of an average toronto avocado toast)

I judge a Tommy Cafe by how well they prepare the Lox (avocado toast with salmon, & I add an egg). Based on that metric, this one passes. It was good, but I would've liked more onions, capers, & seasoning. Bread held when picked up. Points on presentation. Non-Lox: staff is friendly, but not personable like I've experienced at other cafes, including other Tommy's. Service time was reasonable. Space has some seating, not a lot; tables were shared between different parties. Decor has some charm;'still far from Old MTL OG. My only real gripe with the Tommy spawns: no cold brew or iced coffee (Iced Americano isn't the same... it's warm-to-lukewarm watery coffee with rapidly melting ice). Why do they do this to the gays? Tsk, tsk...

Beautiful setting, very nice atmosphere. avocado toast was too salty & oily, chocolate mouse cake was not tasty at all (pure fat)

Just tried Tommy Cafe for the first time & I'll undoubtedly be going back, it was fantastic! I ordered the Athene toast tada! & it was delicious, a definite upgrade to the regular avocado toast. It was topped with tomatoes, olives, pickled red onion, feta & the spiralized cucumbers all atop the perfectly toasted bread. Add that little squeeze of lemon for added freshness! The bright pink smoothie was so delicious too. But please do not leave without trying the pistachio croissant, it is the best in the city! I'm still dreaming of it! Can't wait to go back & try more!
