The food was OK, drinks were unusual & tasty, & the interior was decorated in Mexican style, which I personally liked. However, there was nothing exceptional for this place, I would say - one-time visit.
Since traveling to Mexico in Feb 2024, we have been trying to find an authentic style Mexican restaurant in Montreal. We did find this one that fits the bill. The food was fresh & delicious. We started with chips & guacamole. The chips were crunchy & freshly fried, & I would have liked more. The guacamole tasted just like mine, homemade. I did, however, find it quite expensive at $4.50 for 8 chips & 3 tbsps of guac. We then had, for our main meal, I had a beef burrito, & my partner had the carnitas platter. The Beef Asada Burrito was huge. The flour tortilla was filled with lots of grilled beef, lettuce, refried beans, cheese, & a bit of rice. Both red & green salsa were provided to up the spice factor & taste. As for the carnitas plate, it was served with rice, guacamole, black beans & 4 tortillas & carnitas (pulled pork with pico de gallo). It too lacked some spice & heat but was filling for those with big appetites. Reservations are not accepted, so be prepared to wait. We were there Friday at 6:15 & the place was full. We did have a short wait, which wasn't too bad. Except for the fact that it was way too hot inside. It seemed like the AC was out. Even the staff complained. Yes, this is an option for Mexican food. Next time we go, we'll make sure itbis cooler outside.
Amazing food, beef quesadilla blew my mind. Great service. Very homely atmosphere. One of the best places for Mexican food I have ever had in my life outside of Texas.
I was tired & hungry,I wanted Mexican food so badly & my friend told me about this place + it had great reviews...so I walked an extra 30 mins in the heat. I did pass several other Mexican places, but I was set on this one. I walk in, tiny restaurant, simple looking, nothing much, a few spanish speaking customers (good sign). Man...the food was on another level. Wow wow wow. We ordered a variety if dishes, including drinks, every dish was unreal, the drinks were so refreshing. Big highlight was the cactus beef & the ice cold horchata drink Basically transported to another culture instantly through flavours. Glad I walked so long, glad I trusted my friend & the reviews. 9/10 experience (-1 for the interior design, which is cute, but nothing special...but who cares?)
Great food, service can be slow as it's smallish & often crowded, however, the servers are warm & friendly! A single vegetarian option can be found in each category (tacos, burritos, quesadillas) as dishes are traditional fare. The corn chips & guacamole are some of the best I've ever had! Tables are, for the most part, in close proximity, so not the place to go if you're looking for an intimate conversation, but THE place to go for really good, authentic Mexican cuisine & a fun time!
I m from India. This is the 3rd time i went to Frida for lunch. Its awesome. The Mexican veg /nonveg food is highly recommended. The Tortillas were hot & soft.We were 3 of a family. We ordered 2 plates ,it was so filling after this i skipped dinner. The food was hot ,service good. There is waiting too at lunch hours too ,but worth the wait!!!!

Very good mexican food!!! Everything was fresh & tasty! Portions are very good & service is friendly! Would definitely recommend! The guacamole here is on another level, so so good! Thank you
Durante mi visita a Montreal cenamos en Frida. El guacamole con chips delicioso, los tacos al pastor excelentes!! Altamente recomendado si quieres comer auténtica comida mexicana en un ambiente agradable y familiar 💟
Pretty great mexican food! The menu is concise, the waitors are all nice, the interiour is vibrant. Honestly a really great spot to get your taco craving fixed. We dined-in & the place can be a bit cramped & the food is good enough. Be careful when ordering Horchota cause theirs are like crack. (For reference: I got a Chorizo Quesadilla & a Fish Taco (that comes in 3) for a total of 27.76 incl. taxes & tips) 31/05/2024
