Surprisingly an overall deeply disappointing experience. To start off, our side of chips & guacamole (accompanying salsa was curiously not an option?) came with only 7 chips for the both of us! Not to mention that this was a paid side, unlike the norm in most taco joints. I ordered the Oaxacan beef tacos, which are supposedly the chef's specialty, & was met with dry meat & an underwhelming amount of seasoning. The two table sauces offered little help, as earthy bitterness took over the acidic brightness you would usually come to expect. My partner, who is from the Southern United States, & thus accustomed to quality Latin American/Mexican cooking, ordered the chicken quesadilla & was also very disappointed by how dry & flavourless it was, even going so far as to believe precooked sandwich meat may have been used.
If you want quality authentic tacos in Montreal (which granted, is a rarity in itself!), the best we have had here was surprisingly Impac Taco located in marché aux puces Métropolitain. The La Toxica located in Chinatown is also decent.
The food always hits. We went at 3pm figuring it would be quiet & it was still pretty fullf rec. The food is always delicious & I have never gotten a bad meal, not matter what ww order. We had just a margarita, large guacamole & some cause beef tacos. They were so delicious.
I had what the waitress suggested & it was fabulous. Beef burria tacos I think it was.
Staff are really laidback & friendly. Overall a great experience.
Another tasty taco spot! We ordered delivery & tried the Al Pastor, beef fajita-style tacos, & the carnitas. The Al Pastor & carnitas were definite winners-super flavourful & juicy. Both the red & green salsas were delicious, & the guacamole was fresh & really well-seasoned. Everything held up great for delivery, but next time, we'll try dining in to get the full experience!
Had marinade pork taco, mushroom taco & beef. Really enjoy guacamole!
Wildly inconsistent.... inedible this time..Last time we got food from here it was the most amazing fajitas I'd ever eaten the beef was so tender & flavourful. My partners chorizo tacos were delicious. We order the *exact* same thing today, awful. We couldn't even finish our meals. Dry, flavorless. My beef in my fajita was like rubber & tasted like nothing. The peppers were raw. The chorizo one looked so sad & was also flavorless. I don't understand how inconsistent this can be from amazing to inedible. It worrys me from ever coming a third time. 😕
Amazing food!!! You have to try the beef quesadillas & the birria!! We love to go pick it up & go eat it in a park. Very nice staff as well!
Since traveling to Mexico in Feb 2024, we have been trying to find an authentic style Mexican restaurant in Montreal. We did find this one that fits the bill. The food was fresh & delicious. We started with chips & guacamole. The chips were crunchy & freshly fried, & I would have liked more. The guacamole tasted just like mine, homemade. I did, however, find it quite expensive at $4.50 for 8 chips & 3 tbsps of guac. We then had, for our main meal, I had a beef burrito, & my partner had the carnitas platter. The Beef Asada Burrito was huge. The flour tortilla was filled with lots of grilled beef, lettuce, refried beans, cheese, & a bit of rice. Both red & green salsa were provided to up the spice factor & taste. As for the carnitas plate, it was served with rice, guacamole, black beans & 4 tortillas & carnitas (pulled pork with pico de gallo). It too lacked some spice & heat but was filling for those with big appetites. Reservations are not accepted, so be prepared to wait. We were there Friday at 6:15 & the place was full. We did have a short wait, which wasn't too bad. Except for the fact that it was way too hot inside. It seemed like the AC was out. Even the staff complained. Yes, this is an option for Mexican food. Next time we go, we'll make sure itbis cooler outside.
Amazing food, beef quesadilla blew my mind. Great service. Very homely atmosphere. One of the best places for Mexican food I have ever had in my life outside of Texas.
I was tired & hungry,I wanted Mexican food so badly & my friend told me about this place + it had great reviews...so I walked an extra 30 mins in the heat. I did pass several other Mexican places, but I was set on this one. I walk in, tiny restaurant, simple looking, nothing much, a few spanish speaking customers (good sign). Man...the food was on another level. Wow wow wow. We ordered a variety if dishes, including drinks, every dish was unreal, the drinks were so refreshing. Big highlight was the cactus beef & the ice cold horchata drink Basically transported to another culture instantly through flavours. Glad I walked so long, glad I trusted my friend & the reviews. 9/10 experience (-1 for the interior design, which is cute, but nothing special...but who cares?)
