Family owned little restaurant. Kindest host! Gracias José Maria for the amazing service. We have enjoyed our tortas. I tried with the guacamole. Loved it! Delicous pastries & bread are made by his father. Thanks for the family in the kitchen!
Also the music is very nice too.
Stopped by Ta Chido Snack Bar & split a Torta Al Pastor & Chicken Tinga - both were excellent. The standout for me was the bread: incredibly soft, fresh, & held everything together without getting soggy.
The Al Pastor had a nice balance of savory & slightly sweet, while the Chicken Tinga brought a deeper, smoky flavor. Portions were solid for sharing, & everything tasted fresh & well put together.
Simple menu, done really well. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.
Updated review, June 29th 2024 I had a torta today, the Cubana one, 22 dollars, taxes included. It's sad to see how quality is not top notch anymore. The bread was not fresh & the worst is that maybe in their rush to dispatch me they didn't even heat it up properly. I also noticed they put less stuff inside the torta, sad, because the price is quite high for a torta that poorly garnished. Anyway, today was the last time I visited this restaurant. Adieu, Ta Chido. -------------------------------------- So far the best tortas I have tried in Montréal. They make their own bread. Mole tacos were not that good for my taste, they were overloaded with flavour. Service is very good.
Fantastic authentic Mexican food on Park Avenue, with a fun & eclectic decor. We've been coming for years & love their Mole Verde Taco Chido & Cubana torta. Their chillaquiles were tasty & abundant, & they have a variety of addictive tacos to choose from. The guacamole & cactus salad are great appetizers. The owner is a baker, & all breads & desserts are his creations. You must try the Mexican coffee, which is warmed by a touch of cinnamon. They've also got delicious horchata, a great drink on a summer day. This is our favourite Mexican restaurant in Montreal, & despite our many visits, have still not tried all the dishes on their menu. Definitely recommended !
Delicious food. The gluten free bread was also soft & delicious & prepared separately. celiac friendly. Drinks were cheap on a Saturday, too. Wait staff were very friendly. Charming decor. Would definitely visit again. Give them a try!
Quite tasty, not American "Mexican". They have tacos, however their specialty is Tortas, made on homemade bread & filled with very tasty food. The atmosphere is "hole in the wall". The service was great, not very crowded.
Perfect Mexican comfort street food done right. I had the torta & the bread which is made in house was so fresh. Owner & the rest of the staff were very friendly (not overly fake friendly) & made sure we were taken care of as they were quite busy.
