I would highly recommend buying the baked goods that she has displayed at front. Thanks to these amazing baked goods that Susie creates, I never feel like I am missing out. It makes having celiac much easier. I stopped wishing that things were different all the time because I realized that there really are places like Susie's that exist to support people with Celiac- & she is genuinely supporting us in the best way possible. She also makes the best macarons of all time. Truly, I had no idea macarons could be that good. Every time I go to Susie's bakery, I find a new favorite baked good. She is always surpassing herself. I am so grateful for her business & I hope it continues to grow.
There is so much room for improvement for this business, beginning with the owner. The owner herself has zero knowledge on customer service. When owning a business, it is normal to get multiple critiques, it matters in the way you answer your customers. For example, I tried to order a cake when I was newly confirmed celiac, it was a custom design & I was really looking forward to it after all the testing I had been through the previous year, thinking a gluten free cake would have made my day a bit more special. In order to get the cake in the first place, we had to first pay her a full payment, there was no deposit. The day of my birthday party we went to get my cake all the way in laval, Susie had confirmed the night before that the cake would be ready the next day, however when we got there DAY OF my birthday there was no cake in sight. They simply « forgot » to make my cake. As you can imagine it really made me feel bad as I had kind of been looking forward to my birthday party. Moreover, through the entire communication to place this order not once did she think to contact us any other way than strictly email & her responses were very dismissive to any questions or concerns we had. Keep in mind I had just been diagnosed about a month before my birthday. I kind of found this behaviour odd compared to other businesses i've ordered from. With all the publicity that she posts on instagram, one would think this is business is overall trustworthy, however that is further than the truth in my perspective. Recently I went back & ordered a croissant. It was the driest thing i've ever put in my mouth. I immediately stopped eating & chugged water. I see that she keeps mentioning that's it not from her bakery but Marquis. I've been to marquis & had the same croissant & it was beautifully baked. I don't know what happens once it reaches your store but it's genuinely gross. Moreover, I've heard horror stories from workers, & multiple customers apart from reviews. I truly think instead of bashing everyone online in your reviews you should start to focus on improving the points in your business that people are complaining about.
Response to her response cuz this is crazy lol.
# 1 what about the whole cake that you made me pay upwards of 200 dollars for & then never made after we confirmed countless times. Why are you just ignoring that? # 2 why do you only have one girl working in the front & then complain that you got a one star because they needed to use the washroom & leave the front unattended.
# 3 I do not know why you have such a god complex, as if you are the only bakery selling gluten free sweets. You fully admitted to buying from other bakeries, what is stopping people from going there? In no way am I trying to « shut you down » you obviously just cannot take criticism. Your responses are unfortunate. If you began to answer with poise, & class, maybe your business would be doing better & you wouldn't be so worried about a one star review completely shutting your business down. But that's just me!
My favorite go to spot in Laval Quebec !! 100 % gluten free , they carry all sorts of stuff from bread to desserts. It's a one stop shop as they carry in house made items (cinnamon buns to die for) to croissant (from Boulangerie Le Marquis , another gluten free bakery). The owner is a real sweet heart & her baked goods are worth the drive .
The store carries harder to find products like egg roles & others Asian prepared foods (they were delicious!) that are both gf & soy free. You can find entire lines of products like Katz (GF Twinkie's are great!) as well as fresh baked goods that are clearly labeled. The owner really tries to get new products all the time & provide fast food that people with allergies had grieved long ago & can finally eat again. Thanks Susie!
Came here for pantry staples, left with more than I expected, & fresh baked goods too! There were a lot of gluten free products to choose some, many of which I had never seen before in Canada from various stores. When it comes to selection, this is the spot. The pastries were also very good, among the best I've had in Montreal. Ate before I could take a photo, sorry!
A real gem for all of us with restricted diets. It's worth the drive out, & I'm always discovering something new amongst their products. Their own baked goods are phenomenal. I always say I'm lucky they aren't closer to my home, or I would be there all the time.
