Superbe soirée, qualité des sushis impeccable & service hors pair. Plus qu'un simple repas, mais une expérience en soi.

Nous avons goûté à des poissons auxquels nous n'aurions jamais eu accès, sauf au Japon.View more

Went here for lunch-easier to book than dinner. $175 per person, & with drinks, tax, & tip, it came out to about $500 for two.

Food: Excellent quality. Started with warm fish appetizers & a small bowl of chawanmushi-perfect way to ease into the meal. Sushi was fresh, well-balanced, & served with warm, properly portioned rice. Only letdown was the dessert: the yuzu cake's crust overwhelmed the flavor. Felt more like a Western-style dessert, not quite in line with the rest of the experience.

Ambience: The space is small & well-maintained, but the high stools are not very comfortable-especially for anyone with mobility issues. A sunken chef's counter with standard chairs would've made a big difference.

Service: Very professional & well-rehearsed-almost theatrical, in a fun way. However, the pacing was fast. The entire 15-course omakase wrapped up in about an hour, which felt a bit rushed compared to the more leisurely two-hour meals I'm used to.

Still, the overall quality was way ahead of places like sushi place right next to it.(I know I probably shouldn't even compare these two together😂 but hey they are in the same price range) I'd happily come back to try the dinner service.View more

View more

Sushi Okeya Kyujiro was an incredible experience. The moment we stepped in, it was as if we were in Japan. The staff were amazing throughout the entire evening. I felt well taken care of. They had extensive knowledge about the omakase chefs & the dishes they served. The food I was served that evening was out of this world. Every bite was created with such care, & I found myself feeling so grateful to be able to experience so many different foods & textures after every service. It was so good that I felt like I could no longer eat box sushi anymore. Overall, I will 100% visit again. I'm excited about the next experience they have in store.View more

If you're mentally prepared to spend the money on this experience it will blow you away. Every single thing we put in our mouths was extraordinary. I've been to Japan & eaten sushi in countries all over the world but this will permanently stand out. Alcohol selection could be improved but everything from the service to the ambiance to the quality & care they show each guest...unparalleled & a real gem of Montreal. Cannot recommend enough for a special occasion.View more

I am sorry but I have to say that I am not impressed with the food quality here. I am a food critic & vlogger & have been to many Japanese Omakase places in Hong Kong, Japan, Toronto & Vancouver. At this price point, Okeya's food presentation, culinary skills & quality are just not comparable to other 1 Star Omakase places in Canada. It is not even as good as some Omakase dinner in Toronto at $98/person. Sushi rice's taste & texture are very ordinary, sometimes it will fall apart when you pick up by hand, taste does not enhance the piece of fish on top neither. Fish quality is again very, very ordinary, lack of culinary treatments such as adding house made sauce, smoked, aged, tenderized which you get from other starred places. Also sushi size is the smallest I have ever had. One pc of sushi was added yuzu juice but I cannot taste the aromatic yuzu fragrance at all, not a fresh yuzu? I do not understand why this place gets such high ratings? Maybe the high rating is given to the waitresses wearing pretty Kimonos serving green tea... & the theater setup with curtains go up & down... alcohol selection is limited, they don't have a drink menu to view their selection & price. Service & atmosphere were great. At this price, Montrealers definitely deserve much better Omakase experience. I would say this place is overpriced. Vancouver's 1 Star Masayoshi is 100 times better but only $220 for dinner. Toronto's 1 Star Aburi Hana price is similar over $300 for dinner but again, 100 times better. & I totally agree to all other 1,2 & 3 stars ratings here in google review.View more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Okeya Kyujiro, & it was an unforgettable experience that truly deserves a five-star review. From the moment we walked in, the exceptional service set the tone for the evening. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, & genuinely passionate about providing a top-tier dining experience. The omakase experience at Okeya Kyujiro is nothing short of theatrical. Each course was presented with a flourish, transforming the meal into a captivating performance. The chef's skill & artistry were evident in every dish, with each bite delivering an explosion of flavors that were simply out of this world. The attention to detail was remarkable, from the impeccably fresh ingredients to the exquisite presentation of each course. The pacing of the meal was perfect, allowing us to savor & appreciate each dish fully. It's clear that Okeya Kyujiro takes great pride in both their culinary creations & their guest experience. Overall, Okeya Kyujiro provided a dining experience that was both memorable & extraordinary. The combination of exceptional service, stunning food, & a theatrical presentation makes this restaurant a must-visit for any sushi enthusiast. I can't wait to return & experience it all over again.View more

Okeya Kyujiro is hands down the best sushi restaurant in Montreal! It's a haven of authentic & traditional Japanese cuisine, a rare gem in a city where most sushi spots are not owned by a Japanese chef. The seats are very limited, so be sure to make a reservation ahead. Yes, it's a bit pricey. But trust me, it's worth every penny. Okeya Kyujiro is more than a culinary experience, it's an actual show! I was also impressed by the profile of our waiter, who was at least fluent in English, French, Spanish, & Japanese. If the Michelin Guide team came to Montreal, their restaurant deserves a star just like its Vancouver counterpart. In essence, Okeya Kyujiro is more than a restaurant; it's an immersive journey through Japanese attention to detail, indulging all the senses. Perfect for a date!View more

Please be warned that we went on a Saturday night & it was 300$ per person without tax & tips. If you can see past that price, then you can truly enjoy a magical culinary experience at Okeya Kyujiro. Almost everything we experienced this evening was phenomenal to me. We were greeted politely as soon as we entered the restaurant, the waitresses offered to take our jackets & showed us our seats. Once all the customers had been seated, the chefs introduced themselves & started cooking spectacularly in front of us at a incredibly fast speed. Throughout the night, we enjoyed 30 different dishes that were all presented wonderfully & they each had their charm. Most of them had remarkable flavours & amazing creativity. The variation of texture, flavours & temperature was truly an exceptional experience. Of course there were some of the dishes that were less enjoyable, but they were still beautiful to look at nonetheless. My favourite part is definitely the flawless balance between the rice, the fish with the sauce & the amount of wasabi. Each ingredient goes so well together & there's nothing overpowering the other. Everything is in harmony & elevates the sushi experience to another level. While you wait for the next course to be served, you get to enjoy the presentation of the ingredients & seeing them being cooked right in front of you. It's a wonderful spectacle & it felt like I was watching the chefs cooking in an artistic fashion. I also really enjoyed how the waitresses came beside us to personally describe each dish as we were about to eat them. They were always smiling & friendly while also staying polite. They were also attentive to details, wished the people who were celebrating their birthday a Happy Birthday & they even brought out a piano to play us a birthday song. Seriously, both the food & the service was first-class. Finally, I can confidently say that I was pretty full after tasting 30 different dishes & it was truly a wonderful experience.View more

hi. I really like this place. The food was good until the 4th time in the evening omakase. This was the best Japanese food I had in Canada. I didn't enjoy going to a more expensive Japanese restaurant in Toronto. The chefs here are professional. Watch how many times he touches the rice of the sushi. I lived in Japan, but it's okay here in Canada too. Of course, there are many better places in Korea. But servers in Japan & Korea are crazy friendly. I will definitely visit here again. The tip was over 1000 CAD, but it was well worth it. Actually, I applaud the chef, but I'd like to pay the servers more.View more

From the moment I stepped into Sushi Okeya Kyujiro, I knew I was in for an unparalleled dining experience. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a symphony of Japanese culinary excellence, seamlessly interwoven with the enchantment of theater & the authenticity of traditional culture. The culinary journey here goes beyond mere eating. Each dish is a testament to top-quality ingredients, masterfully prepared with a meticulous attention to detail. The Omakase Kaiseki, for instance, is not just food on a plate; it's a narrative of flavors, each telling a story of Japanese culinary heritage. But what sets Sushi Okeya Kyujiro apart is its immersive theatrical choreography, which transforms dining into a profoundly emotional experience. The ambiance is thoughtfully curated - dim lighting, traditional attire, & a sense of ceremonious unveiling of dishes combine to create an atmosphere that is both mystical & intimate. I have visited countless establishments, even in Osaka, Kyoto & Tokyo, but Sushi Okeya Kyujiro stands out as a beacon of culinary innovation & cultural fusion. It is more than sublime food; it's an emotional journey that disarms & delights in equal measure. This place is a rare gem where food, theater, & culture meld in perfect harmony, offering a dining experience that is both epic & intimately personal. To reveal more would be to spoil the myriad of surprises that await within its doors. Suffice it to say, Sushi Okeya Kyujiro is not just the best restaurant I've ever visited; it's a journey through the heart of Japanese artistry that leaves you yearning for more.View more
