Sushi Nishinokaze is an intimate, 8-seat Edomae sushiya in Montreal, led by Canada and Japan trained chef-owner Vincent Gee.

Nishinokaze, which translates to "West Wind," reflects his mission to showcase the pristine natural flavor of both local and imported wild seafood.

The foundation of our cuisine, the shari (sushi rice), is crafted using naturally grown rice and artisanal red vinegar sourced directly from the producers.

Our space was designed by acclaimed Montreal and Tokyo-born architects Justin Nguyen (David Adjaye, SHoP) and Taichi Kuma (Tailand, Kengo Kuma and Associates), blending old world and modern design language seamlessly.

As a “living gallery,” we present ancient and contemporary ceramics in their most beautiful state: in use. Our unparalleled collection, which changes monthly, spans over 5,000 years of Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern, and Western pottery.

We offer a carefully curated selection of rare sake, Burgundy, Champagne, and natural wines.

Sushi Nishinokaze is THE up & coming sushi omakase in Montreal. As an omakase experience it is much less showy than Okeya, & the quality of fish & service isn't lacking, & in my humble opinion it is a superior value ratio.

The omakase menu progressed gracefully with a jazz backdrop through different pieces of sushi, from harder/thougher textures through softer textures. The sake pairing matches well from floral to more savory.

The fish is impeccably prepared, perfectly aged, & savory, each piece has its place in the lineup, highlighting the best of Japanese & Canadian seasonality.

The rice is well seasoned & cooked, you can feel each individual grain of rice, & they aren't mushed together.

The wine list is short but impressive.

Overall I would say Sushi Nishinokaze takes the top sushi restaurant in Montreal both in terms of service & sushi & I look forward to visiting again.View more

Wow Where to start. A traditional Omakase experience finally in Montréal. Chef Vince & his staff were amazing. Went for my wife's birthday dinner & we were not disappointed. We love Omakase & can't get enough. We have eaten at many places in Toronto & all the places in Montréal. This is definitely at the top. Very intimate setting. See you soon!View more

View more
