You can taste the quality in every bite of creative, expertly prepared sushi. Packed with incredible flavors, we wish we could have had more, but the generous portions are very satisfying. The cocktail menu is equally impressive, & we thoroughly enjoyed our order of Yuzu 75 & an Old Fashioned with Japanese whisky. The beautiful, serene décor adds to the already relaxed atmosphere, enhancing the dining experience, as does the wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, & very helpful service. We highly suggest this elevated establishment for any occasion. You won't regret it!View more
Can't say enough about this place. You can taste the quality of the fish. Everything we got was absolutely packed with flavor & they give you a good amount of fish. We went twice, it was so good!View more
Best sushi I've had in Canada- great atmosphere & service. Certainly high quality & tasty menuView more
We love quality of fish, bluefin tuna was amazing .View more
One of my top 5 sushi restaurants in Montreal. The service is immaculate, & the staff are super nice. Yes, it is pricey, but I really don't mind paying when the quality & service are there.View more
Great fish quality, everything was well done & tasted delicious. The nigiri wagyu was my highlightView more
My husband & I went there 2 weeks ago, we tried the Hokkaido scallop sashimi, it was overkilled by the sauce, couldn't taste the scallops. The Otoro sashimi was stringy, the only dish we liked is the unagi sushi. Overall, the food presentation was good but the quality & taste were just so so, not worth the price. Unfortunately we will not go back.View more
Best place in montreal for quality sushi! Felix was the best serviceView more
**Edited, Feb 2024** Went again thinking it was the same quality but it wasn't... pieces are smaller, sashimis were very thick & less sauce used in rolls. Pretty deceived. Service still great Extremely delicious food & great presentation. It's a pretty place too! Downside was waiting time to get the food, otherwise great experience.View more
This was my second time going to Hidden Fish. After I got home from this recent visit I left a review with Libero (online reservation company Hidden Fish uses) & did not get any response from the restaurant to my complaint. So I will repeat it here. First off I will state the good. The restaurant put us at a very nice table after I mentioned one person in my party had mobility issues & was immunocompromised. Secondly, the hostesses & wait staff overall were friendly & polite. Thirdly, although the quality was fine & we enjoyed our meal it was not as good as the first time we went (in the fall) which absolutely blew our minds. In the fall we only had a la carte nigiri. A lot had to do with size of the nigiri & selection you get with the Chef's Choice. The size of the Nigiri for the Chef's Choice is about a third smaller than the Nigiri a la carte. So if you have the funds I would opt for the a la carte Nigiri. I would say you'll spend more (perhaps ~ $1 more per piece) this way but enjoyment level will be elevated substantially. Of course the more expensive the nigiri the better it is. Also I found the maki had mostly rice & little fish. This included the eel & the albacore. The Oro King maki was good with more fish. We ordered the Premium Sashimi; Chef's Choice Nigiri; several maki; additional nigiri plus drinks; the total bill with tax & tip was ~ $750 for 4 people (which included a total of 84 pieces; 3 mocktails & 1 cocktail). The big issue is we were cheated. Our very last order was Oro King Nigiri & O Toro Nigiri (one of the most expensive nigiri). We saved the best for last. Those are our favourites particularly the O Toro. Note that the waiter takes the order but another person serves all the plates & points out the name of each piece of fish. This "naming" woman looks very serious with microphone attached to her head & a demeanor befitting an army sergeant. She named every piece of fish (with military precision) for every plate & platter that came out. We had the O Toro in our Premium Sashimi & which was pointed out & named. So we had all seen what it looked like. Yet when we ordered another O Toro nigiri it was not O Toro it was Chutoro (fatty tuna vs medium tuna). We ate it & didn't say anything. I like Chutoro & it was good but it wasn't what we ordered & of course there is a difference in price with O Toro being more expensive. Also the O Toro along with salmon are the fish that I could identify easily even before this meal. When the bill came I saw I was charged for O Toro not Chutoro (which is what we were given). Up to this point everyone enjoyed the meal. It was New Year's Eve. Why make a fuss? But when I got home I thought about it & thought WHY would they do this? The chef may have made a mistake with the order (although I find that hard to believe since they are professionals) But the server (who knew her fish) pointed to it & said it was O Toro when it wasn't (when she had named it correctly in the Premium Sashimi just minutes ago). So that was a flat out lie. Note that the restaurant was not busy at all. She was not pressed for time or stressed. So of course this has now put a damper over the whole experience. If you are like me I don't like to be cheated or lied to. It made me wonder if other fish was given to us which weren't what she said they were? So what do I think about Hidden Fish? I am truly very disappointed in an establishment that thinks it's okay to cheat or pull a fast one over their customers.View more
Spectacular!!
One of the most elevated sushi experiences!!
The quality of the fish is of the highest level.
& our server, Matthew was not only knowledgeable but appreciative of creating an experience that was all joy, no pretension & made the evening that much more fantastic.
Definitely where to go for an all around fabulous sushi & dining experience.
Bit disappointed in quality of food. This is my second time here & first time was far superior. Perhaps the Master Chef was not present. Anyways the biggest disappointment was that I was given Chutoro when I ordered & paid for Otoro. For me a dishonest move by chef & server who named every piece of fish that came out on the dish & pointed to it & said it was Otoro. I didn't say anything & that is my fault too but really you rely on all the staff to be honest when you are spending hundreds of dollars on a meal. I spent almost $800 for 4 people (with only one cocktail) in total. So in the greater scheme of things spending $30 on a dish is not going to break the bank but it does give me pause as to whether I can trust this establishment & return again. It's too bad it was last dish we had too & my last bite.
Great food, quality is outstanding, however the overall experience was very frustrating. We wait more than 1 hour for our food after ordering. Some dishes came 30-40min apart even being ordered at the same time. Serving is general was very messy & slow. We saw the restaurant was still taking delivery app orders, even though they were clearly not prepared to handle not even the lounge demand, which shows the focus on volume over quality. I loved the food, however, I don't think I will be coming back due this bad experience.
We love Hidden Fish! Always consistent quality, service always great & original drinks! Try the Blue Fin Tuna tataki!View more
Refreshed my appreciation for sushi. I was served by Wilson, who was attentive & conversational, made it feel welcoming. The space is small, I'd recommend timing your visit off of busy hours. The small interior adds to the dining experience, as it allows you to focus on the food & atmosphere. The sushi quality was phenomenal. I paid for a premium experience, & I got one. The attention to flavours & the quality of the fish were superb. Sushi of this grade should be enjoyed fresh, not via a delivery app. The yuzu cocktail was perfect, a strong recommendation.View more
Most probably the best sushi in MTL. Was trying to find best place & was never satisfied even with most recommended places in the city . Today it was insight. Can compare the quality with most reputable places in the world like Zuma, Nobu ect. Amazing quality, amazing taste, service , highly recommended!View more
Truly sublime experience!! Service was excellent & well-informed, quality of food was outstanding, it was a bit pricey, but a wonderful & memorable experience.
Average - Overpriced for the quality - Bad Service I had high expectations after seeing so many photos on Instagram, which should have actually hinted me that this place was likely not the omakase holy grail but rather more a flashy & pricey type of restaurant that leaves you disappointed. Definitely inferior quality than Jun I or Park. The presentations are nice, but the sushis were sometimes dry & not what you would expect from a top sushi place. The inside of the restaurant is also very tacky & of low quality finishing. I was having diner at the bar & the way the bar was made, we couldn't see the chefs make the sushi which defeats the purpose of bar seats at a sushi restaurant. The service was below expectations - I understand the 2 hour seating concept but the way the waiter was treating us just waiting for us to leave was disappointing. Also, the way the waiter stayed at 2 inches of me as I was paying to pressure me in giving me more tip was very unprofessional. Overall, you can tell the employees are inexperienced when compared to the employees at top sushi restaurants. I do not recommendView more
So nice place! great service from Ricardo! amazing food & drinks. & not too pricy for the quality which is rare these days!
We had such a wonderful experience at this stunning restaurant! The ambiance was truly captivating, with a perfect blend of aesthetics & atmosphere. The interior decor & table arrangement were exquisitely designed, adding to the overall charm of the place. As for the culinary delights, the sushi surpassed all expectations & left an indelible impression. The 24-piece premium sashimi platter was a true masterpiece, showcasing a remarkable assortment of impeccably fresh, high-quality fish. Each bite was a symphony of flavors that transported you to a realm of gastronomic delight.View more
My experience at this sushi restaurant was highly disappointing. From the moment we sat down, we felt pressured to rush our order, even though we wanted to take our time & enjoy the dining experience. What baffled me even more was when I inquired about keeping the menu to possibly order more later, I was told that they were concerned about people getting water on it & would have to print another one (despite patrons spending significant amounts of money here).
The quality of the food was equally disappointing. The tuna we were served had an overwhelmingly fishy taste, rendering the rolls inedible. When we brought this issue to the waiter's attention, the manager's response was disheartening. Instead of addressing our concerns, we were told that everyone else seemed to be enjoying it that night, & we were left with no option but to tough it out.
Overall, this dining experience left a lot to be desired. The rushed service, unwillingness to accommodate a simple menu request, & the poor quality of the food, along with the dismissive attitude from the manager, made it a regrettable visit…View more
Great quality sushi/sashimi, good presentation of the dish, the ambiance is nice with upbeat music but not too loud. We enjoyed our interaction with Shanna & we look forward to coming back next week!View more
This was a great spot for amazing sushi, sashimi, maki etc. The prices are quite high but worth it for the quality of food you're getting. It was genuinely the best sushi we've ever had! Also sat at the bar & got to watch them make the food which was very cool. Would visit again!!
Exceptional service & high quality sushi. Our new favorite restaurant for dinner date.
The food is impeccable! The quality of the fish speaks for itself; it just melts in your mouth with so much flavor. The restaurant itself is cozy & intimate; perfect for date-night or a small group. The service is outstanding. Post covid its been hard getting quality service at even high priced restaurants these days, but that does not lack here. The whole team worked hard to make sure our night was perfect. Would definitely recommend this place!
Great quality food & service. ambiance was great as well. Save up for this place. its worth it
Amazing food, great service & a good vibe overall! It's a very pretty restaurant that serves the best sushi you'll ever eat! Yes it's expensive but the quality of the food makes it 100% worth it.
Beautiful place, quality fish. Service is impeccable. Love love love!!!!
