I don't think I need to say much about Hidden Fish…😂 This is my favourite sushi place in Montreal. The quality here is amazing, it is pretty hard to find a raw-fish restaurant for this freshness in Canada with this price range. The dishes also have uniquely delicious flavours & uncommon but super tasty combinations. The chef just really knows how to surprises his guests. It is definitely a must-try experience if you are a foodie or just simply visiting Montreal.View more
Hands down the best Sushi I've had, I ordered the chef's pick & each one of the 12 was unique & better than the other.
It's sad that I don't live in Montreal to eat here again but it will be a place I'd remembeView more
I'm not usually easily impressed with sushi place, however this completely exceeded my expectations. Absolutely incredible experience. Food was tasty & intricate. Love Wagyu Maki & 6pcs chef selection Nigiri. The interior decor & the ambience are wonderful. Highly recommended this place.View more
Amazing experience, quality of the fish & of the service outstanding. The chef spent time explaining the food & the experience, lovely personView more
Excellent food! Had the chef's choice (waiter's in actuality) & it was perfect.View more
I was @ this wonderful restaurant last with a friend.
We sat @ the sushi bar & had the best experience.
The quality of the fish was spectacular!!
Friendly service & must say chatting with the Executive & head chef made our soirée even better.
Merci Hidden Fish I shall be backView more
We had such a wonderful experience yet again. Thank you to our server Charlie & to the whole Culinary Team at the sushi bar. The food was out of this world & service was impeccable. A special thanks to one of the Chef for the little treat at the end! We will be back for sure next time we are in Montreal!View more
As someone who has worked as a sushi chef, I've had my fair share of incredible seafood. But this place completely blew me away. Every single bite had me saying, wow that's the best I've ever had. The salmon, the tuna, the uni, even the rice.. The quality, balance & attention to details were on another level.View more
This is hands down the best sushi I've ever had! We went with the Chef's choice for both the Sashimi & Nigiri, & it was the perfect decision. Every bite was packed with incredible flavour & absolutely delicious. We also tried the Salmon Tartare Maki & Tuna Tartare Maki, which were both outstanding. The service was top-notch, with knowledgeable & friendly staff. I'll definitely be back. After this experience, I don't think I could go back to regular sushi! Thanks for an unforgettable dinner.View more
The service & atmosphere 10/10. Waiter was well-informed & the chef's seemed very competent! Not all every sushi piece was great but overall, it is a good-tasting sushi restaurant. It's the aftermath that did not sit so well. I am not sure how fresh their ingredients were for the 5pm sitting but immediately after leaving the restaurant, I could feel that the food was not going to sit well. Food poisoning? I'm sure you can fill in the blanks of what happened as soon as I got home. I've eaten at numerous sushi restaurants all over Japan & at fish markets as well; never had this kind of stomach upset at an somewhat middle/high-end restaurant. TBD if I'd try again with my friends. But thumbs up for the vibe & service.View more
View more
It was a perfect night-flavorful, top-notch service, & a great vibe. We went with the chef choice & had no regrets. Our waiter kindly explained all the fish. It was a fun experience to taste all the different types of nigiri. The dessert was incredible as well. Not too sweet, just enough. Highly recommend it, especially for special occasions.View more
I recently discovered an amazing place - Sushi Hidden Fish! To be honest, I've been looking for a restaurant with authentic Japanese cuisine in Montreal for a long time, & here it is! The atmosphere there is simply incredible - calm & cozy, with a modern interior, but at the same time you can feel the spirit of Japan. The sushi & sashimi are to die for! Everything is very fresh & beautifully presented. It is clear that the products are of the highest quality, & the chefs know their stuff. The prices, of course, are not the lowest, but believe me, it's worth it! The service is also top notch - the waiters are very attentive & friendly. In general, if you want to try real Japanese cuisine in Montreal, I highly recommend Sushi Hidden Fish. Just book a table in advance, otherwise there may not be any seats. #SushiHiddenFish #Montreal #JapaneseFood #AuthenticCuisine #Sushi #Sashimi #FreshIngredients #GreatService #CozyAtmosphere #ModernInterior #MustTry #Foodie #MontrealRestaurantsView more
I've rarely written a bad review ever but this place deserves one. Food & service were so underwhelming compared to the value you're getting. This restaurant ruined my last meal of my Montreal trip. If you're out of town & looking for a good sushi spot, save yourself & just go somewhere more affordable with better sushi. We have had many good sushi/omakase in the past & even had them in Japan. So trust me, when I eat a good sushi, I know it's good. We came to this place with high expectations & were willing to splurge on good sushi since they had a good google review. However, our food was so underwhelming. We ordered scallop sashimi - so mid compare to the price we paid, Crab Maki - so mid. It was our least favourite dish & the portion is so small for the price. Chef's choice nigiri - we had high hope for this since it was a whopping $88 for 2 people (12pieces). It was okay, some was good, but it wasn't anything amazing at all. Considered the price, it's not worth it AT ALL. The service for a high end restaurant is also really bad. We ordered only 3 dishes, but everything took over 30 mins to arrive. The last dish, took 1.15 mins to serve which was INSANE. In addition, Nobody really checked up on us until the end of the night. Even more affordable restaurants had a better service than this place. Again, I wouldn't trust these google reviews at all. If you want to have a good night with reasonable priced, & higher quality sushi, please look elsewhere. Save yourself & look for another restaurant. Thank you.View more
Price is on the higher side, but definitely worth it! Food was exceptional & staff were all very knowledgeable & friendly. We originally booked at the sushi bar to watch them make sushi, but the counter blocks the view so we chose a table instead. In hindsight, we though that maybe by adding a mirror behind the chefs, it would allow a better view of the sushi-making. If you like sushi, you definitely need to visit this restaurant. Will DEFINITELY be going back again.View more
Our server (Pascal) was super sweet & engaging! She was fairly new (3 weeks) but had an amazing command of the food & gave great recommendations!❤️ the Chefs made some of the best Nigiri I've ever had... & the twist on dry ages meats was incredible! Definitely a MUST try place if you know good sushi & love fresh fish!View more
View more
Hidden gem 🥰 we tried sashimi 30pc, chefs hocice is perfect! We love every type they served & also for the nigiri! Really stuffed & definitely would come back to discover more!View more
Amazing experience. Sat at the sushi bar & enjoyed watching the Chefs work & insightful information on how the fish is prepared. We went with the Chefs choice sashimi & nigiri & finished with a nice Maki roll. Top Notch service & food...exactly what we were looking for.View more
Wow ! Comment dire. Félicitation a toute l'équipe !View more
This place is the definition of Japanese fine dining. The global experience was once that brought us back to Kamakura, a secluded Japanese village known for its majestic temples & hidden unpretentious sushi joints.to begin with, Mathew's service, knowledge & attitude are irreproachable. He sets the standards to what service should be. Secondly, the food's freshness is nothing we have tasted in canada up to last night. If I were to guess, The privately imported fish probably came all the way from Tsukiji Market. The simplicity of the recipes, contrasted by the exquisite presentation is something HF should be commanded for. No authenticity was lost among the explosion of flavours with every bite. To sum it up, as the Japanese explained to me, sushi is a delicacy that should be enjoyed & respected in its simplicity & is therefore definitely not an everyday meal. Hidden Fish chefs & staff thank you for a trip to Nippon through your exquisite & authentic cuisine. A first Michelin star should be on the table of discussion.View more
We had the chefs choice, what a great choice, super fresh fish, great presentation & very attentive service.View more
This was my second time going to Hidden Fish. After I got home from this recent visit I left a review with Libero (online reservation company Hidden Fish uses) & did not get any response from the restaurant to my complaint. So I will repeat it here. First off I will state the good. The restaurant put us at a very nice table after I mentioned one person in my party had mobility issues & was immunocompromised. Secondly, the hostesses & wait staff overall were friendly & polite. Thirdly, although the quality was fine & we enjoyed our meal it was not as good as the first time we went (in the fall) which absolutely blew our minds. In the fall we only had a la carte nigiri. A lot had to do with size of the nigiri & selection you get with the Chef's Choice. The size of the Nigiri for the Chef's Choice is about a third smaller than the Nigiri a la carte. So if you have the funds I would opt for the a la carte Nigiri. I would say you'll spend more (perhaps ~ $1 more per piece) this way but enjoyment level will be elevated substantially. Of course the more expensive the nigiri the better it is. Also I found the maki had mostly rice & little fish. This included the eel & the albacore. The Oro King maki was good with more fish. We ordered the Premium Sashimi; Chef's Choice Nigiri; several maki; additional nigiri plus drinks; the total bill with tax & tip was ~ $750 for 4 people (which included a total of 84 pieces; 3 mocktails & 1 cocktail). The big issue is we were cheated. Our very last order was Oro King Nigiri & O Toro Nigiri (one of the most expensive nigiri). We saved the best for last. Those are our favourites particularly the O Toro. Note that the waiter takes the order but another person serves all the plates & points out the name of each piece of fish. This "naming" woman looks very serious with microphone attached to her head & a demeanor befitting an army sergeant. She named every piece of fish (with military precision) for every plate & platter that came out. We had the O Toro in our Premium Sashimi & which was pointed out & named. So we had all seen what it looked like. Yet when we ordered another O Toro nigiri it was not O Toro it was Chutoro (fatty tuna vs medium tuna). We ate it & didn't say anything. I like Chutoro & it was good but it wasn't what we ordered & of course there is a difference in price with O Toro being more expensive. Also the O Toro along with salmon are the fish that I could identify easily even before this meal. When the bill came I saw I was charged for O Toro not Chutoro (which is what we were given). Up to this point everyone enjoyed the meal. It was New Year's Eve. Why make a fuss? But when I got home I thought about it & thought WHY would they do this? The chef may have made a mistake with the order (although I find that hard to believe since they are professionals) But the server (who knew her fish) pointed to it & said it was O Toro when it wasn't (when she had named it correctly in the Premium Sashimi just minutes ago). So that was a flat out lie. Note that the restaurant was not busy at all. She was not pressed for time or stressed. So of course this has now put a damper over the whole experience. If you are like me I don't like to be cheated or lied to. It made me wonder if other fish was given to us which weren't what she said they were? So what do I think about Hidden Fish? I am truly very disappointed in an establishment that thinks it's okay to cheat or pull a fast one over their customers.View more
Bit disappointed in quality of food. This is my second time here & first time was far superior. Perhaps the Master Chef was not present. Anyways the biggest disappointment was that I was given Chutoro when I ordered & paid for Otoro. For me a dishonest move by chef & server who named every piece of fish that came out on the dish & pointed to it & said it was Otoro. I didn't say anything & that is my fault too but really you rely on all the staff to be honest when you are spending hundreds of dollars on a meal. I spent almost $800 for 4 people (with only one cocktail) in total. So in the greater scheme of things spending $30 on a dish is not going to break the bank but it does give me pause as to whether I can trust this establishment & return again. It's too bad it was last dish we had too & my last bite.
One of the better sushi spots in town. I recommend the chef's sashimi & nigiri platters.View more
The chef's choice sashimi & nigiri are just out of this world. Here, you have to try otoro/chu toro (the fatty parts of the tuna's belly) sashimi. You don't need to chew, it just melts away. It is expensive but it was worth every penny. This place is hands down my favorite sushi restaurant in Montreal so far.View more
Average - Overpriced for the quality - Bad Service I had high expectations after seeing so many photos on Instagram, which should have actually hinted me that this place was likely not the omakase holy grail but rather more a flashy & pricey type of restaurant that leaves you disappointed. Definitely inferior quality than Jun I or Park. The presentations are nice, but the sushis were sometimes dry & not what you would expect from a top sushi place. The inside of the restaurant is also very tacky & of low quality finishing. I was having diner at the bar & the way the bar was made, we couldn't see the chefs make the sushi which defeats the purpose of bar seats at a sushi restaurant. The service was below expectations - I understand the 2 hour seating concept but the way the waiter was treating us just waiting for us to leave was disappointing. Also, the way the waiter stayed at 2 inches of me as I was paying to pressure me in giving me more tip was very unprofessional. Overall, you can tell the employees are inexperienced when compared to the employees at top sushi restaurants. I do not recommendView more
Hidden Fish served us the best nigiri I've ever had, one of the chefs even gave us a dish of real wasabi. Amazing service, ambiance & food, I'll definitely be going back!
