A friend recommended Sunny's, so the four of us went for breakfast today. The wait was only about 10 minutes. We shared a few different plates, the beetroot avocado & the salmon bagel were our favorites, & the halloumi toast was really good too. We also split a croissant & a pancake. Pancake 🥞 is 5 ⭐?, The servers were super friendly & we loved the vibe. We're actually going back tomorrow to try something else!
Had our last breakfast before our flight back to Dubai . We arrived early at 8:40 AM. The kitchen wasn't open yet, but they let us wait inside & gave us free coffee! Super friendly service. We got the French toast & Le Classic, & both were delicious. Thank you, Sunny's team, see you in December!
Had a pretty disappointing overall experience at Sunny's.
To start on a positive note, the hostess was friendly & seated us right away. From there it went downhill quickly.
The person who took our order did not seem happy to be there & seemed to struggle to understand our order (in both French & English). Our food came out fairly quickly but the quality & presentation was 0/10.
The French toast with fruits was dry & had a very small portion of strawberries & blueberries. Entirely flavourless & absolutely not worth $25.
The chicken pesto sandwich tasted okay however the chicken was poor quality & was similar to what you'd find in a pre-cooked package from the grocery store. Very rubbery & almost like a processed meat texture.
The coffee was absolutely tasteless.
Overall, the price is unjustified & the quality of ingredients & recipes needs serious improvement.
I really wanted to enjoy this place as it's close to home. Walked in on Saturday, seated outside which was great & it was a sunny day. Waitress took 20 minutes to come & see us, & it took an hour & 20 minutes to actually receive the food. I followed up with the waitress twice, which whom on the second time, told me some of the food was ready & on the counter, the other food was being cooked. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be excited that my food was finally coming, or that my food was sitting on the counter until the rest was ready.
Told them I had a nut allergy. When the food was brought to the table, I asked if it was ok, waitress said she didn't know (it was a different person) & that she'd check with the kitchen & come back. She never did.
The scrambled eggs were nothing great, small portion, on a single plate. A separate plate for french toast, a separate plate for the potatoes. I don't understand why they wouldn't put it all in one plate. The waitress visibly saw that we had no space to fit all of that on the table, besides the other dishes, but she still'tried'. During the hour & 20 minute wait time, not once did she come back to ask us if we wanted a refill on our coffee, or anything in the meantime. Nor did she ever come to say sorry, or explain the lengthy wait time. At the very least, they could have simply waived the 3$ coffee from the bill to accommodate for the poor service, food quality, & wait time. It was truly a waste of 70$. We really wanted to like this spot, but we wont be returning.
My friend treated me to birthday brunch here & I loved it. Definitely recommend their french toast if you have a sweet tooth.
It feels like a vintage escape from the world.
The place is nice, good people with smile on the face & polite attitude .
But when it comes to a professional server they are missing that. There is a lady server who doesn't clear things while taking the order. 1. Like we talked about having fries instead of home potatoes but she still charged us with the fries. It's not about 4$ it's about the role a server plays in what we eat. 2. Another thing we noticed was small two half cut triangle toast pieces. Cant even call it a single toast that we got in our classic breakfast. 3. The coffee wasn't served & we had to ask for it after the order as we were waiting for the food. The coffee was only served once & no one bothered to ask for a refill. Thats not a Dinette feeling at all.
Still tipped them full, as dont want to take this as a excuse to not tip (is what is assumed these days if you dont tip)
The Avocado tasted so bad, dry salad with almost no dressing, i asked for a bacon & eggs add on for 5$ extra on top of the 18$ dish. They literally sprinkled some bacon bits which you can probably count with your fingers on that dry bread with a poached egg (i wasn't given an option of how i wanted the egg)
My partner got a falafel salad which didn't take like a falafel at all. So dry & unflavored. Another 19$ for that btw.
The only reason we visited this restaurant was because the September Cafe was crowded & we thought let's give another restaurant a chance. I guess it wasn't a good bet.
The atmosphere is good but can get loud. The service was okay nothing exceptional.
I would avoid visiting this place if tasty food is your goal.
I'm sorry for being blunt but we spent 45$ on food that was not at all good & the quantity was so less for the prices they charge.
Fantastic & incredibly nice brunch venue in Griffintown❤?❤? The service is top notch despite the long lineups. The menu is incredibly awesome & we started with drinks followed by sandwiches, eggs Benedict, casserole & avocado toast & each bite was amazing ❤?❤? Cannot wait to come back to this 11/10 venue with family & friends & try other items on the menu 😇
