My friend absolutely loved the Ultimate Breakfast, & my Shakshuka was incredible. The two perfectly cooked eggs & the feta cheese added just the right amount of flavor. The 20-minute wait for a table was completely worth it. Delicious food, great atmosphere, & excellent service- we'll definitely be back! 😍😘
I really wanted to enjoy this place as it's close to home. Walked in on Saturday, seated outside which was great & it was a sunny day. Waitress took 20 minutes to come & see us, & it took an hour & 20 minutes to actually receive the food. I followed up with the waitress twice, which whom on the second time, told me some of the food was ready & on the counter, the other food was being cooked. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be excited that my food was finally coming, or that my food was sitting on the counter until the rest was ready.
Told them I had a nut allergy. When the food was brought to the table, I asked if it was ok, waitress said she didn't know (it was a different person) & that she'd check with the kitchen & come back. She never did.
The scrambled eggs were nothing great, small portion, on a single plate. A separate plate for french toast, a separate plate for the potatoes. I don't understand why they wouldn't put it all in one plate. The waitress visibly saw that we had no space to fit all of that on the table, besides the other dishes, but she still'tried'. During the hour & 20 minute wait time, not once did she come back to ask us if we wanted a refill on our coffee, or anything in the meantime. Nor did she ever come to say sorry, or explain the lengthy wait time. At the very least, they could have simply waived the 3$ coffee from the bill to accommodate for the poor service, food quality, & wait time. It was truly a waste of 70$. We really wanted to like this spot, but we wont be returning.
Stopped in here on a Saturday while doing some shopping nearby & finally got to check it out. The staff was super nice, service was good, & I did like the open kitchen concept where you can see everything being made fresh. The pancakes were actually really tasty too, even if they were way smaller than I expected from the menu 😅
That being said, I personally wasn't a huge fan of the seating setup. All of the tables are very high-top/community style tables, which just made the experience feel uncomfortable for me. There wasn't really anywhere to put a purse, sit comfortably, or relax for a longer breakfast. I also honestly don't think the indoor seating would be very wheelchair accessible, which is something worth noting. Beautiful summer day you can sit outside they had a few cafe style tables.
The eggs Benedict with salmon were good, but definitely on the saltier side l personally didn't mind it, but if you're sensitive to salt you might notice it right away.
Overall, I'd say it's more of a'try it once for the experience' type of breakfast spot rather than somewhere I'd personally go back to for a cozy, hearty breakfast. Still glad I checked it out though!
I've been to Sunny's Dinette twice now, & both experiences were great. The first time, I ordered the ham eggs Benedict, which was delicious. My friend's croissant sandwich was equally tasty. We sat at the counter, which gave us the chance to watch the chef cooking with real skill & attention to plating - he's genuinely impressive to watch.
The service is definitely above average for Montreal, especially considering the area where the restaurant is located.
The second time, I went with a bigger group & we were treated just as well. I ordered the eggs Benedict with shredded beef, which was also excellent. During our visit, the owner noticed I was filming content about the brunch & kindly offered my meal as a complimentary courtesy from the house.
Highly recommend it, & I'll definitely be coming back again.
We paid over $60 for two coffees & two eggs benedict. The coffees were good, but the eggs benedict were terrible. For that price, I expected better quality & more generous portions.
There was barely any hollandaise sauce on the eggs. So little that I could hardly taste it, which makes me doubt it was homemade. The dish also came with a salad, but the dressing was all pooled at the bottom, so I had to mix it myself. The fries were pretty good.
The service was also not great. The staff seemed confused & super nervous for some reason.
I'm not sure why our experience was so different from the other reviews here. Maybe someone was in training, but overall, it was disappointing.
For how much we paid, I'd rather go get a full meal instead of 4 poached eggs for $60. Ridiculous.
We tried Sunny's Dinette. Cappuccinos were great, perfection! I had the Croiwich which is basically a breakfast sandwich in a croissant. The sausage was really good but the croissant was hard; overall the sandwich was bland, & so were the potatoes. My friend took the egg Benedict which were good. Also can restaurants get decent hot sauce, Tabasco sauce is not hot sauce. Ok spot with great coffee
Sunny's Dinette offered a unique & welcoming brunch experience. My partner & I decided to try something new & stumbled upon Sunny's online. The menu boasted a great variety that catered to both our tastes, so we decided to give it a shot.
From the moment we walked in, the warmth of the servers made us feel right at home. It's a cozy spot where you can see the chef expertly managing the entire kitchen solo, which is quite impressive.
I enjoyed the steak & eggs, while my girlfriend had the eggs Benedict. The food was delicious, though the portions were on the smaller side, & the prices leaned a bit higher. Despite this, the exceptional hospitality & homely atmosphere made up for it.
Overall, Sunny's Dinette strikes a nice balance between a friendly environment & good food. It's a great spot if you're looking for a cozy brunch with a personal touch.
Everyone who works here is so kind & joyful! Delicious breakfast (especially the eggs benny) & lattes. Some good veggie options too. Totally recommend!
Best eggs Benny options in town at a very reasonable price. I always leave happy here :)
Bad food. Low Quantity. Expensive Prices.
We ordered the restaurants popular dishes
1. Avocado Toast
2. Falafel Salad.
The Avocado tasted so bad, dry salad with almost no dressing, i asked for a bacon & eggs add on for 5$ extra on top of the 18$ dish. They literally sprinkled some bacon bits which you can probably count with your fingers on that dry bread with a poached egg (i wasn't given an option of how i wanted the egg)
My partner got a falafel salad which didn't take like a falafel at all. So dry & unflavored. Another 19$ for that btw.
The only reason we visited this restaurant was because the September Cafe was crowded & we thought let's give another restaurant a chance. I guess it wasn't a good bet.
The atmosphere is good but can get loud. The service was okay nothing exceptional.
I would avoid visiting this place if tasty food is your goal.
I'm sorry for being blunt but we spent 45$ on food that was not at all good & the quantity was so less for the prices they charge.
Very disappointed.
