Sunny's Dinette generally receives praise for its cozy atmosphere, welcoming staff, and high-quality breakfast offerings like the pancakes, shakshuka, and various egg dishes. Many visitors appreciate the fresh ingredients and the personal touch provided by the team, noting that the open kitchen adds to the authentic diner experience. While the majority of guests have a wonderful time and express a desire to return, some reviews mention inconsistent service, occasional long wait times, and concerns regarding seating comfort or temperature. Despite a few mixed reports about portion sizes and pricing, the consensus remains that this spot is a charming neighborhood gem for those seeking a tasty brunch with a vintage vibe.
45+ minutes to make 2 plates of breakfast at open while not busy yet. $8 for the smallest smoothie you could even imagine. Basically a double shot for smoothie for $8. Broken AC. Overall just wanted a simple breakfast ended up spending $80 for the most meh meal in Montreal
The best spot for a fresh Canadian breakfast! It's super cozy, the staff are really friendly, & the portions are huge. I also loved their passion fruit mojito.
Not as good as I expected based on the reviews. We went first thing on a Sunday morning expecting it to be busy. In the hour we were there only one other person came in. I got the Sunny's brunch which comes with beans & pancakes. The beans are chili beans & didn't really work for breakfast. I don't know if they were meant to be hot; they were lukewarm & a little gross. The pancakes are mini, & were tough & dry. The potatoes were boring. Just deep fried potatoes with little to no seasoning. My son really liked the smoothie he got, but it was about $8 for a juice glass size. We go out for breakfast often & had hoped this would be our place to go when going to the market but we will not return.

I've been here twice & both times without fail a genuinely wonderful experience at Sunny's Dinette! The food was amazing, the service was great, & the whole place had such a perfect breakfast/brunch vibe. Everything felt fresh, cozy, & welcoming from the moment we walked in. Definitely the kind of spot you want to come back to - great atmosphere, great food, & overall just a really enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!
Thank you, Sunny's Dinette, for another wonderful experience! My friend absolutely loved the Ultimate Breakfast, & my Shakshuka was incredible. The two perfectly cooked eggs & the feta cheese added just the right amount of flavor. The 20-minute wait for a table was completely worth it. Delicious food, great atmosphere, & excellent service- we'll definitely be back! 😍😘
Stopped in here on a Saturday while doing some shopping nearby & finally got to check it out. The staff was super nice, service was good, & I did like the open kitchen concept where you can see everything being made fresh. The pancakes were actually really tasty too, even if they were way smaller than I expected from the menu 😅
That being said, I personally wasn't a huge fan of the seating setup. All of the tables are very high-top/community style tables, which just made the experience feel uncomfortable for me. There wasn't really anywhere to put a purse, sit comfortably, or relax for a longer breakfast. I also honestly don't think the indoor seating would be very wheelchair accessible, which is something worth noting. Beautiful summer day you can sit outside they had a few cafe style tables.
The eggs Benedict with salmon were good, but definitely on the saltier side l personally didn't mind it, but if you're sensitive to salt you might notice it right away.
Overall, I'd say it's more of a'try it once for the experience' type of breakfast spot rather than somewhere I'd personally go back to for a cozy, hearty breakfast. Still glad I checked it out though!
The atmosphere is different, but we liked it. The food took about 30 minutes but it might of been the best breakfast we've ever had. I had the belt & my friend had the creamcheese bagel.
We tried Sunny's Dinette. Cappuccinos were great, perfection! I had the Croiwich which is basically a breakfast sandwich in a croissant. The sausage was really good but the croissant was hard; overall the sandwich was bland, & so were the potatoes. My friend took the egg Benedict which were good. Also can restaurants get decent hot sauce, Tabasco sauce is not hot sauce. Ok spot with great coffee
The place is nice, good people with smile on the face & polite attitude .
But when it comes to a professional server they are missing that. There is a lady server who doesn't clear things while taking the order. 1. Like we talked about having fries instead of home potatoes but she still charged us with the fries. It's not about 4$ it's about the role a server plays in what we eat. 2. Another thing we noticed was small two half cut triangle toast pieces. Cant even call it a single toast that we got in our classic breakfast. 3. The coffee wasn't served & we had to ask for it after the order as we were waiting for the food. The coffee was only served once & no one bothered to ask for a refill. Thats not a Dinette feeling at all.
Still tipped them full, as dont want to take this as a excuse to not tip (is what is assumed these days if you dont tip)
Everyone who works here is so kind & joyful! Delicious breakfast (especially the eggs benny) & lattes. Some good veggie options too. Totally recommend!
