Avis pour Sucrerie des Gallant
My first visit to a Sucrerie / Cabane a Sucre on 43 years. The buffet was good but not outstanding, with many maple-themed favorites, & the staff were friendly. I recall years ago a more'vivante' expérience - sugar taffy served from ice troughs & horse-drawn wagon rides all day, small children thrilled to be walking around with frozen sticks of maple syrup candy, & guides on hand to explain the harvesting process to curious visitors. In those days there was a spigot & tin bucket on every tree, which added to the nostalgia. No more, sadly. Economics now require the surrounding forests be strung with blue tubing, efficiently drawing sap from an IV on each tree, all draining by gravity to a sugar shack on the property. Sigh. I was hoping to be able to relieve those magical memories of the early 80's experience... but progress is progress.
I loved my experience at this cabane à sucre. It has more of a chalet vibes. & the food is served as a buffet: which was really good:
Mash potatoes, breakfast potatoes, saucisses, ham in maple syrup, pancakes, donuts, pulled pork, & salads.
They serve coffee & you can order some drinks too: mimosas!!
They serve de la tsir on the snow à volonté ♡
& if you like a ride on a horse & buggy, they have that too.
They have high chairs ♡
