This is one of our favorite places to eat when we go to the Jazz festival early every July. They have a nice outdoor terrace where you can watch people go by & hear some of the music in the area. They sound delicious pizzas, salads & pasta & their portions are generous enough that we actually had leftovers to take home!
Truly mid in every way. Not good, not bad, just intensely average. With how much food costs these days, it's a not a risk I'd take again. Exists only to snatch the tourists too lazy to walk more than ten feet from place des arts
Walked in here during the Francos de MTL music festival so they were pretty busy. Still found a table for us quickly though. The food was pretty good, we got the margherita pizza & chefs raviolis. They let you cut your own pizza which was nice. The drinks were good too & the bar was very attentive. They were also kind enough to make us an affogato even though it wasn't on the menu. Would recommend getting the pizza & a couple drinks here.
The food was excellent!
I was genuinely looking forward to leaving a glowing review.
I ordered a non-alcoholic beer & later a Perrier while others at my table were drinking wine. When the server reached to remove the wine glass in front of me, I politely asked if I could keep it to drink my Perrier from. He refused, saying they were running low on wine glasses. I asked a second time, making it VERY CLEAR that keeping the glass was important to me. Instead of showing any flexibility or consideration, he again refused.
A wine glass is not always just a wine glass. For some people, it helps them feel included in the experience rather than singled out for not drinking. For others, it can be an important tool that allows them to comfortably participate in a social evening where alcohol is being served. Sometimes small details matter more than they appear.
I had ordered drinks, I was a paying customer, & I was simply asking to keep the glass that was already sitting in front of me. I do not believe that was an unreasonable request.
Adding to my frustration was the fact that throughout my entire meal, I was looking directly at a rack of wine glasses behind the bar, with wine glasses visibly available.
The interaction stayed with me for the rest of the evening & unfortunately took away from what should have been a wonderful night out with friends. To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, the server commented in front of others at the table about the tip percentage (he said only 15%)
Like really!? Now we are bullied into tipping more than 15% even with crap service! I honestly felt like leaving nothing.
It's unfortunate because the food was very good! However, what I remember most from the evening is not the meal, but the lack of hospitality, empathy, & professionalism shown by this server.
Never under estimate
The power of a Wine Glass!
