Review Summary

Shushu Haru offers a polarizing experience where patrons frequently praise the flavorful vegan sushi and impressive cocktail menu, yet many express disappointment regarding recent changes to the dining environment and menu consistency. While some diners highlight the beautiful decor and quality of specific dishes, others note significant issues such as slow service, high prices, and concerns over the texture and preparation of certain items like the tartare and tempura. Although the location near the canal is considered a benefit, the atmosphere can be loud, and the overall experience often fluctuates depending on individual expectations for vegan dining.

The vegan food was delicious but the drinks were really amazing. Louis was our waiter & he's an exceptional mixologist too! We handed him the wheel for 5 different cocktails & had 0 regrets. He closed us out with a tiramisu shot that was unlike anything we've had before (& I've been to 100+ cocktail bars)

Louis' recommendations & passion for mixology made this night genuinely memorable for both of us. I came for the great vegan sushi, but will come back for the drinks :)

Thank you Louis!

This place is amazing. I had the bun, sushi & zaumon tartare. Amazing. My only complain is that the tartare was salty but honestly this is one of the most fabulous vegan places I've ever eaten.

Update: Shushu Haru's dedicated dining room has closed. The menu is now available only though Shushuto nextdoor.

We tried some of our favourites from the original menu, like the Blossom sushi roll & coconut panna cotta, but the recipes have unfortunately changed.

I was very disappointed with the hard strawberry panna cotta.

This has become one of my new favourite restaurants. The sushi was absolutely incredible. The restaurant is well-decorated, & the location is very conveniently located right next to the canal.

The weird thing is that we came for lunch on a Saturday, & the place was surprisingly empty. It's also a bit pricey, but totally worth it.

The ramen is perfectly good. Might return for it. The service was above average. The sushi, however is a great example of less is more or don't over egg the pudding. The sushi pieces are massive. Most sushi is supposed to fit in your mouth with one bite. The use of black or forbidden rice does not add flavour or texture in a good way. It overpowers everything else. The whole thing was overwhelming & uninteresting.

The best sushi I've ever had (vegan or otherwise). Very fresh & great flavour. Would highly recommend.

The best vegan sushi we've tried anywhere in the world including San Francisco & Las Vegas. The food was absolutely delicious, authentic & farm fresh. The service was incredible too. There was no rush, they brought the food out in stages giving us time to eat slowly & enjoy our food. This was an utter treat & we will be back.
