Review Summary

Shushu Haru draws strong praise for vegan dishes and memorable sushi, with many noting delicious, flavorful options, a well decorated space, and a convenient canal side location. At the same time, experiences vary: service is often described as slow or uneven, and several reviewers report a gap between online menus and what is actually offered, including changes after the dedicated dining room closed and the menu appearing elsewhere. The restaurant is sometimes considered pricey, though several comments say the quality justifies the cost when the kitchen delivers, while other critiques highlight oversized sushi pieces, the choice of rice types that can overpower flavors, and a tartare that some found dull or too salty. Dishes such as zaumon tartare are singled out for mixed results, while favorites like the bun, various vegan sushi options, and sides are celebrated. Desserts have sparked debate as well, with coconut panna cotta praised by some and strawberry panna cotta described as disappointing. Allergy concerns are mentioned in one review, and the overall tone ranges from enthusiastic to cautious, but the food is repeatedly said to carry the experience and leave room for return to explore more of the vegan menu.

Service was very slow. The menu was quite different from what is posted online; apparently they will not sell you the combo platters if you dine in. The restaurant seems to have been merged with a non-vegan one. Pretty disappointing, ended up very expensive. Also the zaumon tartare was pretty much just rice krispies...?

The ramen is perfectly good. Might return for it. The service was above average. The sushi, however is a great example of less is more or don't over egg the pudding. The sushi pieces are massive. Most sushi is supposed to fit in your mouth with one bite. The use of black or forbidden rice does not add flavour or texture in a good way. It overpowers everything else. The whole thing was overwhelming & uninteresting.

Sushis were good, but not as good as other vegan sushi restaurants in Montreal IMO. The sushi rice was lacking a bit of seasoning... Also not sticky enough, some sushis weren't holding well together. Flavours were good but some combinations were just not working for me. Overall a positive experience, I recommend to go if you're in the area, but wouldn't make a detour for it considering other options in town!

This place serves extremely delicious & reasonably priced food. We had the Bao oyster mushroom, the gyoza & the Hawaiian hot dish & udon noodle hot dish. For dessert we had the mango & strawberry sticky rice. Everything was excellent. Highly recommend.

Good atmosphere & nice staff. Food was good too. I wish there were more gluten-free options, but the ones I got were very good. The 514 & blossom rolls were good. The mango sticky rice was disappointing as the mango was severely under ripe & crunchy instead of sweet & soft.
