Food is great. Staff is... not so much. There's an asian guy wearing a hat who talks a lot but doesn't listen to what the patrons are saying. A conversation needs to be composed of speaking & listening. Do listen & then resume your sentences, it's a common courtesy.

Decor & atmosphere were amazing, service was a bit slow & very casual. Food was over salted & a bit small on portion sizes. Overall a decent place, but I wouldn't seek it out again.
Overall very solid, each dish we ordered came with little sides, but none of them were pickled vegetables which is exactly what I found a lot of the dishes were lacking, acidity to cut the richness, especially in the bao. The lemonade I ordered was also a bit too watery for my taste. 4/5 replace the plain cucumbers with pickles & it'd be killer!
Killer flavours & nice atmosphere at fair prices, kid friendly too. **UPDATE**: 10 year later review update - bumping up to 5 stars. This really is one of the best restaurants in the city. Amazing & super consistent food (we're 10y+ regulars at this point). One of our favourite restaurants in the city. Great bold & bright flavours from an under-represented cuisine here in Montreal. The laksa, pork buns, satay sandwich & papaya salad are all standouts. Also, the fried rice (which changes up regularly) is amazing, truly awesome. The vibe is great too. Vibrant but laid back atmosphere, great with the family/friends earlier in the night, then it becomes a really fun evening spot with a lively clientele, a good bar & good times when the sun goes down. When people are visiting Montreal for the first time & ask for restaurant recommendations, Satay Brothers is always on the list. Not to be missed, one of our best. I'll update this review in another 10 years!
May 2024: Pisco sour was great, Char Kuay Teow noodles had plenty of sausage but not much seafood, was sweet. Papaya salad was nice & crunchy. March 2024: Gorgeous decor, inviting atmosphere, friendly efficient staff. My Pandan cocktail was delicious, the tamarind one just tasted like sugar. Had the group menu. Beef cubes, pork Bao buns, ribs, chicken skewers, fried rice were delicious. Mixed noodles & vegetables (rapini?) were okay. Fried chicken was pretty disappointing. Plenty of food overall though, very full by the end.

This is a place for a great food experience. Not to be fussy but to have them keep bringing you the set menu, with a group you do get to a great variety of great food.
Unfortunately the quality of the place has gone way down specially when it comes to the super loud music & very commercial type of music. Food is still amazing so worth it for the food but be ready to have to yell to be heard!

SO SO SO yummy! Loved everything about this place. Very busy for a Wednesday night but service was still on point & so was the quickness of the kitchen - I'm still thinking of the salad I had!
Super endroit ! Une très belle décoration, une carte de qualité Attention l'attente peut être très longue (1:00 pour nous) Mais si vous êtes en bonne compagnie ça vaut le coup :)
I was here with TheRajEats FoodiesGiveBack & the entire experience was superb. The food was so fresh & flavourful, & the dishes nicely complimented each other. Especially liked the ribs & fried rice. The cocktails were also very tasty & well balanced. The service was just as good as the food. Despite the place being absolutely packed on a Friday night, the staff was very attentive & service was timely. Highly recommend for a quick meal or a group outing. Be warned, though - it's a lively & LOUD place.
