I've been to Portugal, & I've eaten Piri Piri chicken my whole life. Montreal has no shortage of places serving it but this restaurant truly stands out. It's hands down the best-composed Portuguese menu in the city.
From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm, inviting space & the subtle, mouthwatering scent of charcoal grilling. The menu is focused & efficient, no fluff, no filler, just an exceptional curation of dishes done to absolute perfection. Every single item feels purposeful.
The grilling is masterful: the char is just right, the heat balance is spot on, & the house hot sauces? Incredible. Most importantly, it's consistent, every visit delivers the same high-quality experience.
What I appreciate most is that this is a restaurant that doesn't rely on gimmicks. Just honest, delicious food that leaves you satisfied without feeling weighed down.
If you haven't been yet, go. Make plans, bring friends, & prepare to come back. Because once you try it, you absolutely will.View more
The chicken with fried potatoes & salad was delicious! As was the octopus. The grill on the meat was perfect. & they knew I was from the US, so asked if I wanted ketchup or hot sauce with my chicken 🤣 How thoughtful, but I politely declined. Recommended!View more
My husband asked for the grilled chicken & I had the calamar; I asked for garlic butter on the side & the waiter was a bit insulted & said "why would you want to change our recipe?". The chicken was ok - nothing more & not really resembling the authentic Portuguese rub that many Portuguese eateries practice. My calmar was ok - but the sauce was extremely bland. Service was ok but nothing out of the ordinary. The chicken, by the way, was not done completely & parts of it were almost pink. From the outside window looking inside, I noticed that the grill was not very clean & neither were the counters. Three hours later, my husband had something similar to gastroenteritis. I regret I have to write this but in my 50 years of eating at Montreal restaurants, this never happened to me or my husband. The decor is pleasant, but I would much rather prefer for the grill itself to be cleaned every day. The accumulated grease on the grill was quite a sight.
