Was in town for a business trip with a colleague & decided to check out the speakeasy downstairs for a drink last Thursday.
I've been to the restaurant a year prior & had a great experience. Amazing service & music. The atmosphere was a refreshing change!
We were mainly at the bar & was served by a young Black woman (sorry forgot her name). She greeted us with a wonderful smile & amazing cocktails. She was diligent & made sure we were having a good time throughout.
If you're seeking a top-notch speakeasy experience with outstanding service, Sans Soleil is a must-visit. Can't wait to return to this gem soon!!View more

My husband & I were visiting Montreal for a few days & intended to go to Fleurs & Cadeaux for dinner, but we got sent to Sans Soleil when we arrived. Boy are we glad we ended up there! The vibe at Sans Soleil was so cozy & fun, perfect for a rainy Sunday evening, & we loved the DJ. The cocktails were creative & tasty, & the food was incredible. We ate every last bite. Andie, our server, was amazing too! We left feeling like we lucked out having this great dinner experience in such a fun spot we never would've found on our own.View more

The food is good, the music is great (vinyl mix) but the staff RUINS it. They are super cold & rude, make you feel very unwanted. The signature cocktails sound cool but are not actually good, stick to classics.View more

We absolutely loved this spot. The exterior & building is a real gem, if it's not the previous tenants signage; it definitely fooled me! We had cocktails in the basement & listened to a great turntablist play rare hip hop. We came back again later in the evening to see if there was a crowd but it was asking too much of a Monday in Montreal. Everyone working there is friendly & welcoming & the cocktails were lovely. I would love to come back for food & a weekend night in the basement! Hope to be back one day.View more

Food was absolutely amazing & prices are ok. Cocktails were delicious. Service was a little slow & with a lack of passion if I must say but Ambiance is great is you are not sitting right at door where bathroom is - like we did. But I was with a great friend & had so much to catch up that I poked with. Will make sure to avoid those seat next time:) Will def go backView more

My husband & I had a nice time at this cute & very small, semi-hidden cocktail bar. The vibe is reminiscent of grandma's basement - super cozy & cool. Perhaps the best part of the experience was that the food at Sans Soleil is served from their sister restaurant, Fleurs & Cadeaux, which is upstairs. The noodles might be the best thing we ate our entire trip!View more

Bartender & host were very fantastic- not sure their names, bartender with buzzed hair & a nose piercing & host with a buzzed head & sleeveless shirt (Feb 17th, 7:00pm). Had great recommendations, conversations, & very accommodating. Food & cocktails were incredible. Overall a highlight of our trip from Boston to Montreal.View more

I took a trip from Toronto to mtl for a weekend in sept of 2023 & I was recommended to come here by a local & they did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, amazing music, vinyl record DJs !!! If you're not a fan of the jumpy sweaty loud clubs, this is the perfect spot!! The music was certainly the centre of attention. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try the food but the cocktails were great & priced very fair !! my friends & I had a great time & will definitely be coming back. WOW!! Incredible food, service, ambiance, & vibe. One of the best dinners I've had in a while. The donburi, tuna, & duck were phenomenal & the cocktails delicious. Loved how the place transforms into a cozy dance club as the night progresses. Highly recommend for a special night out.View more

Sans Soleil is an absolute standout for food & cocktails in Montreal. Tucked away in a tiny space, this charming speakeasy is an adventure to find but well worth the effort. While it seems to be a popular nightlife spot for dancing & music, the real stars are the inventive dishes & expertly crafted cocktails.
My new wife & I visited Sans Soleil while honeymooning in Montreal. The lovely & passionate server Lily guided us through the menu, explaining each item with such attention to detail. We were blown away by the quality & unique fusion of French & Asian flavors, especially at these reasonable prices. The sashimi was incredibly fresh & converted me into a raw fish fan. The duck sashimi style was a revelation - if you've never tried it, you must.
Every dish was meant for sharing & arrived one after another in a progression of flavors. Subtle, complex tastes were artfully arranged in ways I didn't expect from this unassuming spot. Lily delighted in making recommendations, practically ordering for us after hearing what we liked.
The cocktails were just as strong, flavorful & inventive as the food. Each one came with an unexpected twist. The music & dance floor didn't appeal to us that night, but some regulars mentioned it was an odd night for the usual scene.
Make sure Sans Soleil is on your Montreal bar crawl list. This soulful hidden gem delivers an absolutely memorable food & cocktail experience worth savoring.View more

I would give 6 stars if I could! This is a small hidden bar in the basement of the Fleurs & Cadeaux restaurant. They share the same extraordinary food menu. The pasta & the duck were just so delicious, I've never had anything like that. Every bite was just so amazing. The staff is super sweet & the service is really good. They have a great list of wines & super nice cocktails, as well as a few drafts. They have live DJ which starts a bit later, & at some point they remove the table to allow people to dance. It's an experience that truly worth it.View more

She also made us choose the right choice of cocktails based on the food we ordered; ensuring we have the best experience possible. Food was insanely good & the environment for our 7PM reservation was perfect. Travelled back in time with record playing music. Great experience, would come back next time in Montreal.

Chirashi bowl was good but a little pricey given the portions. Loved the music, the vibe, the cosy ambiance, & the fact that the music wasn't too loud & we could carry on a conversation without yelling over the volume. Thank you for a lovely night.
