Great bar & food then if you want, the venue turns into a club circa 11pm. 2nd visit & it's exactly what we were after for entertaining family post dinner. We went for 7.45 booking. Sat at the bar last time. Can't recommend enough.View more
Got a table at the bar last minute. Had the BEST bartender walk us through the food & sake. Shared stories of Japan. We asked for some teaching on how to eat traditionally. He was so genuine & took this experience beyond anything we have had in the past. The food & the vibe & the music (dj) was wonderful but his personality & time is something we will talk about for a long time. The club vibe after dinner was also really great. Music dancing food team 10 out of 10.View more
My favourite bar in Montreal! Found this place a couple years ago & is now my go too for a successful night out. My favourite drink is the shiso g&t. The atmosphere is always nice & the djs are amazing!View more
Was in town for a business trip with a colleague & decided to check out the speakeasy downstairs for a drink last Thursday.
I've been to the restaurant a year prior & had a great experience. Amazing service & music. The atmosphere was a refreshing change!
We were mainly at the bar & was served by a young Black woman (sorry forgot her name). She greeted us with a wonderful smile & amazing cocktails. She was diligent & made sure we were having a good time throughout.
If you're seeking a top-notch speakeasy experience with outstanding service, Sans Soleil is a must-visit. Can't wait to return to this gem soon!!View more
I hate to say it but there are some bars that just guarantee good music & good vibes & this is one of them. However I have found that recently there have been many tech bros & finance bros coming I think becuase it's so close to the convention centers & it's fine but also they all bring their backpacks here & then it's like stuff is jingling around in there while they're dancing & I just feel like it's a small space already so it just takes up a lot more space to bring your backpack to the dance floor like there's a lot of storage for you to just leave your bag on the ground I promise no one is going to steal it like idkView more
Joli petit bar, belle ambiance. Service un peu froid & sans sourire mais la nourriture & les cocktails sont excellents.View more
Booked the Sans Soleil bar for a 6:30 dinner to be able to enjoy the DJ that begins playing at 8pm. To clarify, their food menu is from Fleurs & cadeaux which was absolutely phenomenal - their sashimi selection is to die for as it is so fresh. They have this delicious 2yr aged soya sauce which is also provided for the sashimi. We also ordered the uni chips & dip, the marinated veggies & the peanut sauce udon. The service was generally pretty great but it took over 45 minutes for our last dish (we think the kitchen forgot our final dish which is why service was so slow in the end). All in all, would love to return again for this delightful supper club located below the eclectic pink restaurant! They also had a fun vending machine filled with beers & sakes which is meant to mimic all the fun vending machines japan is known for!View more
My husband & I had a nice time at this cute & very small, semi-hidden cocktail bar. The vibe is reminiscent of grandma's basement - super cozy & cool. Perhaps the best part of the experience was that the food at Sans Soleil is served from their sister restaurant, Fleurs & Cadeaux, which is upstairs. The noodles might be the best thing we ate our entire trip!View more
Excellent bar, ambiance japonaise, cependant mon ami a perdu sa doudoune verte uniqlo, si jamais vous l'avez n'hésitez pas à recontacter le bar nous avons laissé nos coordonnées :) Bar vraiment super !View more
I had a great night at Sans Soleil. I recently read a review complaining about waiting a long time in the rain to get in. We shared a similar experience to that. They could definitely find a solution to covering the waiting area with an awning or an overhang. It was super nice that the bar is free to get in to, which is getting more rare in Montreal. the atmosphere was great, people were dancing & smiling. The DJ was great, he started off with some funk & transitioned into some groovy house, with some nice vinyl scratching. The sound system was very impressive, it was a Klipsch system that I would love to know more about. It sounded amazing, with one complaint of the horns being right at ear level, causing a lot treble being heard & a lack of bass. A simple change of eq or a new subwoofer would solve the problem. The bar was ok, the service was nothing special but the drinks were great. It was very messy though, lots of spilled drinks & dirty glasses everywhere. Overall I had a great night, & with a couple of small fixes, I think Sans Soleil could be at the top of vinyl clubs in Montreal.View more
This bar has 2 very different "expressions". The dinner service from 7 to 10 & the late-night techno club from 10 till late. I give 5 stars to both of them :). If you go for dinner, I suggest requesting one of the tables in the smaller room behind the baView more
Great hidden bar with incredible drink choices & a classy atmosphere! Later in the night the main floor turns into a place to dance 🪩View more
View more
This basement bar presents a fun urban experience. No visible front, when you come to this place you'll recognize it from a door with a lineup at the side of a random lot. Gives it a somewhat underground feel to it, pun intended. There is no cover which is great. The place was visibly never fully renovated to be a bar, so it still has the layout of a commercial basement. It does offer some seating around the sides & the back room which is nice. It gets loud but you can still hold a conversation if you are trying to. The bartenders are skilled at their craft. Music here is a bit unconventional but very fun to dance to. Overall this place has a different but enjoyable vibe.View more
Amazing amazing amazing... Start to finish. We began with a cocktail at the bar below & finished with our meal on the main floor. Perfect nightView more
Sans Soleil is an absolute standout for food & cocktails in Montreal. Tucked away in a tiny space, this charming speakeasy is an adventure to find but well worth the effort. While it seems to be a popular nightlife spot for dancing & music, the real stars are the inventive dishes & expertly crafted cocktails.
My new wife & I visited Sans Soleil while honeymooning in Montreal. The lovely & passionate server Lily guided us through the menu, explaining each item with such attention to detail. We were blown away by the quality & unique fusion of French & Asian flavors, especially at these reasonable prices. The sashimi was incredibly fresh & converted me into a raw fish fan. The duck sashimi style was a revelation - if you've never tried it, you must.
Every dish was meant for sharing & arrived one after another in a progression of flavors. Subtle, complex tastes were artfully arranged in ways I didn't expect from this unassuming spot. Lily delighted in making recommendations, practically ordering for us after hearing what we liked.
The cocktails were just as strong, flavorful & inventive as the food. Each one came with an unexpected twist. The music & dance floor didn't appeal to us that night, but some regulars mentioned it was an odd night for the usual scene.
Make sure Sans Soleil is on your Montreal bar crawl list. This soulful hidden gem delivers an absolutely memorable food & cocktail experience worth savoring.View more
I would give 6 stars if I could! This is a small hidden bar in the basement of the Fleurs & Cadeaux restaurant. They share the same extraordinary food menu. The pasta & the duck were just so delicious, I've never had anything like that. Every bite was just so amazing. The staff is super sweet & the service is really good. They have a great list of wines & super nice cocktails, as well as a few drafts. They have live DJ which starts a bit later, & at some point they remove the table to allow people to dance. It's an experience that truly worth it.View more
Incredible service specifically the young girl behind the bar with short blonde hair. A keeper !
One of my fave restaurants in Montreal. The food is incredibly good & fresh, the set up , decor & ambiance is super cool, without trying too hard, the downstairs bar is tasteful, mature & the DJs that play are lowkey & good nothing pretentious. The noodles & bowl of rice with sashimi on top are to die for. My boyfriend & I brought friends there last night & we're already trying to rsvp for this Friday with another set of friends to get them to share our resto "discovery ".
