Overall, reviews of Sammi & Soupe Dumpling describe it as a must try for dumpling lovers in Montreal, with soup dumplings praised for being juicy and flavorful in a thin wrapper and a wide range of flavors including pork and chives, leek and coriander, spicy pork, beef teriyaki, shrimp, and vegetarian options. Prices are generally seen as reasonable for the quality and portion size, and service is often noted as fast, friendly, and efficient even when crowded, with staff able to switch between English and French. The vibe is casual and lively in Chinatown, and coming early is advised to beat lines during peak times. Some downsides appear in a minority of visits, such as occasional misorders or delays, brief lapses in attentiveness, and a few reports of flies or other cleanliness issues; a dessert described as overpriced also shows up in a few notes. Several reviews mention that pastry could be a touch thicker or soup amounts variable, but the overall sentiment centers on delicious dumplings, strong value, and a high likelihood of return.
I came to SammiSoup Dumpling a couple weeks ago mainly for the food, but I'm leaving this review because of Victoria.
From the moment she greeted us, the experience felt different in a really good way. She didn't do the usual rushed'hi how are you' & disappear. She actually took a second to connect, asked if it was our first time, & genuinely cared about making sure we ordered things we'd enjoy. That alone already put us at ease.
I wasn't super familiar with all the dumpling options, so I asked a few questions, & Victoria explained everything clearly without making it feel awkward or rushed. She recommended a couple of dishes based on what we liked, & honestly, she didn't miss. Every single thing she suggested ended up being a hit. You can tell she really knows the menu & actually eats the food herself. It didn't feel like a scripted upsell.
What really impressed me was how attentive she was throughout the whole meal. Our water glasses were never empty, empty plates were cleared right on time, & she checked in just enough to make sure everything was good without hovering. Even when the restaurant got busier, she stayed calm, friendly, & fully present. At no point did we feel forgotten or rushed out.
There was one moment where we were unsure about ordering more food, & instead of pushing us to spend more, she gave an honest suggestion based on portion size. That kind of honesty goes a long way & made the whole experience feel more genuine & relaxed.
she brings a really positive energy to the place. She's professional but warm, confident but approachable. She's the kind of server who makes you feel comfortable & taken care of without even realizing it. It's clear she takes pride in her job, & that reflects incredibly well on SammiSoup Dumpling.
The food was great, but the service is what made the night memorable. If you're coming here, I genuinely hope Victoria is the one taking care of your table. She's a huge asset to the restaurant & a big reason I'll be coming back.
Nous avons découvert ce restaurant au hasard des rues. Quelle belle découverte! On a adoré. Les dumplings sont délicieux & pour une fois, il y a de la soupe wonton autre qu'à la viande. Il y a aussi du choix pour les végétariens. En plus le service est top! Ça va devenir un classique lors de nos visites à Montréal!
These dumplings are the best I've ever had. If I had to spend a week in Montreal, I'd definitely visit this place more than once. Don't miss the wong ton soup.

Best Xiao Long Bao in Montreal without a doubt, & rivals my favourite place back in Toronto where I live.
Great flavour, good amount of soup, nice texture, & a fairly solid price as well.
Also got the Red Bean Bao for dessert which IMO was a bit overpriced, but very tasty, with a good amount of filling.
For the people this pertains to: BE WARNED COMING HERE DURING OTAKUTHON. It is literally impossible to get a seat here during Otakuthon, because everyone knows how good the dumplings are here (not impossible bur you have to wait upwards of 2 hours for a table, cause everyone knows how good this place is).
Service is very fast & responsive & they speak both English & French.
Best spot to grab some soup dumplings come before rush hour tho cause sometimes theres a short line i usually get pork & chives pork & coriander soup dumpling & a shrimp wontons if im feeling more hungry for me & my girl is perfect !

This place is great!! I've never had such good dumplings before. They have this crunchy top, so good!! The hot & sour soup was great too! Service is excellent, I highly recommend!
