Visitors praise Sammi & Soupe Dumpling for handmade, juicy soup dumplings in a variety of flavors, with pork and chives, lamb coriander, and classic wonton soups, all described as fresh and flavorful. The dishes are often highlighted as comforting and well priced, with many noting quick, friendly service and a lively, welcoming atmosphere even when the restaurant is busy.
We had a wonderful dinner at Sammi & Soupe Dumpling, a popular casual Asian restaurant located in Montreal. The restaurant's specialities are handmade soup dumplings (xiao long bao) & pan-fried dumplings (guotie). There are so many flavours available & you can even mix two flavours together (need to pay extra $).
We ordered 10 pieces of the Pork, Shrimp & Scallop Xiao Long Bao & 12 pieces of the Lamb & Coriander Pan Fried Dumplings. Both dumplings tasted delicious, appetizing & bursting with flavours. The restaurant is small but cozy & clean. Nice ambiance but can get a bit noisy during busy hours.
I liked the jasmine tea & how it was presented as it was great to share, the dumplings were tasty, & the soup was also good.
The service was good, but the place was packed, so the food took a while, but it's understandable, however because of that it was super noisy, & you could hear others people's conversations.
Absolutely mind blowingly delicious dumplings. I got the wonton soup & two varieties of dumplings - chicken & vegetable & everything was expertly crafted & delicious! Will probably pop in here on my next Montreal trip!
I wish I could give this restaurant five stars however there was a continuous loud beeping sound like an alarm coming from the kitchen the entire time we were there which was about 45 minutes, it would stop sometimes for 30 seconds but would restart again & it was very high pitched it was uncomfortable for me to enjoy myself because of this I will not be coming back, even though the dumplings were absolutely delicious the staff was welcoming & courteous the food was just spectacular I wish there was no noise then I would definitely be back but otherwise I won't be returning. I recommend the spicy pork dumplings absolutely delicious I think I should have gotten two portions.
Honestly, the first time I came here was Aug 2025, & I wasn't that wowed by this place. We visited Montreal last week & craved soup dumplings, so I thought to give it a try again.
Ughhhh the pan-fried dumplings were delicious, & the lamb coriander soup dumplings were addicting & just bursting with flavour. The pork/chive XLB were good too, but the lamb coriander XLB are definitely the stars of the show.
There was a mix-up with the pan-fried dumpling, as a server accidentally gave our curry & beef to another table, so our server was super apologetic & professional. He gave us options: to take their order of pork & chive, or they can immediately start a new order of the curry & beef. Since we wanted to try the curry & beef & already had pork & chive XLB incoming, we elected for the latter option & our server completely understood. They came out super quickly.
We came at a busy time, but we were lucky & able to be seated in less than 10 minutes.
The soup dumplings were good overall-I'd give them four stars. The flavor & texture were nice, & they were enjoyable to eat. However, the dipping sauce felt like it was missing one important ingredient: fresh cut ginger.
I would recommend the owner consider adding fresh ginger to the dipping sauce. Especially with Canada's very cold weather, having warm soup dumplings with soy sauce & fresh ginger would make the experience even better & more comforting.
