Très bonnes ravioles, en grande quantité. C'est une expérience à faire pour découvrir chinatown. Petit bémol pour le service ps toujours attentifs.View more
Service here is a thing of mystery. The waiters & bus boys have no sense of what they need to do. One of them standing at the counter filling up 20 cups of water while there are 4 empty tables full of dirty dishes while there's a huge line up out the door. One other person is behind the counter pulling out soda cans, cashier is serving the same customer for over ten minutes. Meanwhile, there's a chili oil spill on the ground & easily 6 tables have yet to place orders. Mind blowing, honestly.
They're lucky the food is good but yeesh. C'mon, please have some integrity!View more
One of go to places for soup dumplings. The service was much slower during my last visit, but in their defence, the restaurant was very busyView more
J'ai adoré les dumplings au porc sucré, & les prix sont très raisonnables!View more
Tried hot & soar soup & veg dumplings. Nice place & good taste.View more
The Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) at Sammi are always a solid 10/10. I can never have too many. I particularly recommend the pork, shrimp, & scallop. Yum! I've been here countless times (at least 30). They have a new outdoor patio which is nice but the service was a little slow. The waiter started talking to his friend as I was halfway through my order. Nevermind. Go for the dumplings.View more
J'ai diner au sammi & soup pour la première fois hier.
Le service est excellent & rapide, le staff courtois & serviable.
Les dumplings sont vraiment trop bon & fait a la mains.
Je recommande absolument cette endroit.View more
Really good soup & pan fried dumplings. Great peanut butter dumplings & noodles.View more
First time eating here. It was difficult to find a day where there wasn't a line all the way onto the sidewalk. However, friday at 5pm, there was hardly anybody. The service is very nice & we got to enjoy seats on the terrasse.
Spicy & sour soup: the soup was watery, not spicy & the bowl was as big as my small asian hands. Definitely not worth it for 4$.
Steamed dumplings: The lamb & cilantro was so good. The broth was flavorful, the lamb wasn't stinky. The dough has just enough chew & isn't too thick. Perfect dough to filling ratio.
Pan-fried dumplings: it's my first time trying pan-fried, & although there was a crunch from the fried dough-water, there wasn't much browning under the actual dumpling. Also the crunchy part stuck to my teeth a bit. Idk if that's normal. The pork & cabbage filling is very basic & tastes basic. Which is good, but I think I had higher expectation. I think I would have liked the pan-fried dumpling more if had I chosen another filling.
I would totally recommend this place for their steamed dumplings. Easily the best steamed dumplings I've had Montreal, especially for a very reasonable price. The ones at Qing Hua are too thick in dough, in my opinion. The other dishes are not worth it. The one at Mont-royal has muuuuch better soup!View more
I honestly think that these are the best dumplings in Montreal. Everything is so tasty, prepared fresh. I could eat there every day.View more
The food was good, definitely takes time for the soup dumplings to be prepared as they are made fresh so be sure to enjoy some appetizers while waiting.
Portions of the appetizers are small, which match the value of what they’re priced at.
The restaurant interior is fairly dated & the washrooms could definitely use some updating as it definitely does not look/smell sanitary at all.
The servers are not friendly or welcoming, one female server in particular. There was a young gentlemen trying hard to be efficient to make up for the lack of service from the other 2 ladies.
They serve pre-poured tap water - that tastes like metal mixed with chlorine…which sits by their cashier counter, until customers are seated then served that while they wait. One man went up to grab a second cup because he was done his first & wanted a refill but nobody came to refill it, so he helped himself & was yelled at by one of the lady servers telling him to put the 2nd cup back down & that she will refill his already used plastic cup with water from the metal jar. By then he had already touched the 2nd cup & walked half way back to his table already - it was really not necessary to make a scene of it, as well as probably not the most sanitary at all as well.
As decent as the dumplings are, the experience & sanitization of this type of environment is not worth it. I wouldn’t go back.View more
One of my favourite places for soup dumplings in Canada. I have been going since its opening years ago, & quality has not changed at all! Paper-thin dough, broth-filled dumplings are served in a bamboo steamer directly on your table. I always go for the classics (pork & cabbage, pork & chives) but the other options, especially anything lamb-based, are also worth a try. Vegetarian options are available & also tasty (egg & tofu-based.
I went around 2 pm on a weekend day, & even if lines were relatively short, the wait times for food once seated were very long (around 1-1h15 for steamed dumplings). There might be a staff shortage right now; still a wonderful place to grab a bite, but just be mindful of the wait times even when seated in case you’re on a schedule.View more
