I wish I could've eaten two of them because I really wanted to try the pork & chive ones too. They were very busy with a line out the door, but we were quickly seated & served dinner.View more
I can't even count how many times I have been here.
Very quick service, amazing food, good price & clean place.
The dumplings are fantastic.
They are open late. Gets very busy!View more
Went there on Saturday around noon.
Resto is located along the busy street of Rue De la Gauchetière in Chinatown Montreal.
At first you'll never notice their resto since there are a lot of resto in the area with lots of appetizing banners showcasing their menus, what sets them apart is the looooong line of customers willing to wait & to be seated. We decided to give it a try luckily wait time is short.
Upon entering, no fancy decorations & everything is simple. Their menus only have dumplings & some appetizers.
We asked the server for their best seller & we ordered the classic juicy pork, spicy tofu & pizza dumpling as recommended.
Upon first bite of their dumpling, I finally understand why people are lining up. Dumpling was really delicious, can be compared to Din Fai Fung actually! I also like their' pizza twist' to usual dumpling, didnt know that cheese & dumpling combo is good (plus the crispy thing beneath the dumpling).
Resto is good for quick snack/lunch/dinner. Pretty straight forward kinda resto. Overall experience was great. Hope they can expand the variety of dumpling flavors that they offer.
Recommendation: there should always be someone manning the door/entrance to manage the line & avoid homeless from getting in
(we were approached by a homeless while eating on our table inside the resto - asking us for money, it was a bit scary. Good thing another server was fast to act & had the homeless leave)
Tip: if you dont want to wait for too long , go to their other branch at St Catherine as it has less crowd/line compared to this oneView more
Always busy, be it a weekday or a weekend! Always had to wait for a minimum of 10 minutes. But, the food is worth the wait!View more
There's nothing better than Wanton soup & hot dumplings on a cold winter day in Montreal! Place is busy but the service is very prompt!View more
Super busy, so much so we were packed side-by-side with tables.View more
Delicious Xiao Long Bao. Tried every flavour & all were good but the best were the classic & the lamb. Gets very busy & is a small shop so be prepared to wait but it is worth it.View more
Busy, two groups ahead of me, but did not wait long for table (we only 2 people). Soup Dumplings had good soup. Fried dumpling had crispy bottom.View more
This restaurant appears to be quite busy, but we were lucky to have a table ready for us. There were many students dining, & one particularly loud group made the experience somewhat unpleasant. However, the food was delicious, & the dishes were served promptly.View more
If you like dumplings served 20 different ways this is the place to go. 4 of us tried the soup - pork, shrimp & scallop dumplings, soup - chicken & mushroom dumplings, pan fried - pork & Chinese cabbage dumplings, pan fried - pork $ chive dumplings All dishes were around $15. Fresh handmade dumplings cooked to order. Very tasty & came with chilli sauce, soya & vinegar sauce for dipping. Super filling. The restaurant is in the heart of Montreal Chinatown & is very busy & crowded but the service is quick & tables turn over fast. A definite must try for dumpling lovers.View more
Brilliant find, authentic Chinese food, well recommended. Although the service was excellent throughout, it was just let down at the very end - as soon as we finished the last dumping they were trying to get us out to allow other customers in - i do understand as we also appreciated it when we got our table - but come on guys let us finish our drinks & allow us a few mins. Also, as soon as we tapped the card for payment it was if you suddenly didn't exist - tried to say thanks & goodbye & the guy literally ignored me & was talking over me to other customers - will put it down to being really busy but must be better than that. Great food though & would return.View more
Really liked the porc , taste really good Don't miss the cucumber appetizer I only believe they need more waitresses on busy days (they are very polite & respectful).View more
Best soupe dumpling ive tasted. Place can get super busy.View more
If you are dumpling fan, must visit place in Chinatown. They were delicious. We tried vegetarian ones & they were amazing. They are always busy.View more
Went on a busy day, waited about 20 min for a table. The tables that aren't booths are very close together, we couldn't hear each other talking because the table beside were having s loud conversation. My partner couldn't even leave his seat without having to move the neighbors table. Felt like the dumplings weren't as soupy as last time I had some. Maybe it's a problem with the branch or the busy ness of the day.View more
Pretty good overall. Juice XLB dumplings in decent portion size. Staff was attentive & the restaurant was well managed when it got busy. Lost a star because there's no ginger to accompany the vinegar, tea is additional & the hot & sour soup lacks flavor & consistencyView more
THIS....IS...THE...PLACE...FOR... DUMPLINGS(I'm not screaming...just sharing my utmost pleasant experience)....should I say more? All dumplings are prepared in so many ways & they are all great. Service is impeccable & it's always busy. Highly recommend!View more
Place is always busy whenever I'm there, but its got a great lively atmosphere no doubt. I wouldn't really recommend this place for those who has a big appetite. The soup dumplings are good, I just don't find it as filling. I could eat like five dishes but would the total price be worth the fill?... not really.View more
I've been here many times in the past & the dumplings at Sammi are to die for ! Although it can get very busy & have long lines during the evenings, it's totally worth it. The service is very quick also.View more
This place gets busy so be prepared to wait in line. Soup dumpling was my favourite, more than the pan fried dumplings. Cold peanut noodles were refreshing.View more
Reliably good pan fried & soup dumplings. Good value. Gets pretty hectic during busy hours.View more
