TLDR; Beware of the bartenders trying to charge you more than double the price of your drinks!!! & most horrible experience with the server CELESTE!!!
My fiancé & I arrived around 11pm & the experience went downhill almost immediately. We ordered 2 drinks at the bar that were clearly listed as $11 each on the menu, yet the payment machine showed $55. When we pointed it out, the bartender corrected it but seemed visibly annoyed that we even mentioned it.
We then sat at a booth in a nearly empty club with tons of open tables everywhere. A server named Celeste came over telling us we couldn't sit there & had to move to the bar, despite there being no reservation signs, no crowd, & other people sitting at similar tables without being bothered. We moved to another nearby table, ordered more drinks, & somehow still got approached again & again by CELESTE being told to move for absolutely no valid reason. She even went to my fiancé while he was ordering at the bar to tell him that she needed our table.
After the fifth time, it honestly started feeling ridiculous & targeted. Meanwhile the place still had a bunch of open tables, one of them being right beside us. Instead of enjoying our night, we spent it being repeatedly harassed over where we were sitting while actively ordering drinks & spending money. Extremely frustrating experience & by far some of the worst service we've had in Montreal. Definitely will never go back!!!
We had a great time there! Can't speak to the drinks much since we only took a couple shots. Otherwise, the vibes were good! Up beat music, most of it Spanish, some popular non-Spanish songs were also played. All music you could dance to. As people in their mid/late twenties, we had a great time. The crowd was varied in terms of ages. Seating available around the dance floor. Coat check mandatory, but cheap. No lineup to wait outside. We'd definitely go again:). We got there at 11:15am, & it started to get more busy at 11:30am/midnight. As people said in other reviews, people actually go there to dance, so it was great!
PRO: - mixed age clients, a few came by themselves & danced like nobody was watching, which i loved.
- Mixed latino music kept the ( small) ring full.
-Big & small tables available, no reservation necessary, 13$ for entrance & coat.
- we were 2 women only, lots of latino bystanders, yet, everyone was respectful
- loved that the waiters took a moment to dance & enjoy;
CON: drinks are watered down ( 13$)my 2 cocktails tasted like sugary coloured water.
Overall, i recommend only for music & atmosphere
I've been to Salsathèque a few times with my girlfriend since we started clubbing. The place is pretty rundown & gives old disco vibes. There's a $12 cover that includes nothing, & the toilets are awful.
We keep going back because the music is great. The crowd changes depending on the night - sometimes it's young, sometimes older with people who really know how to dance, which we enjoy more. What's nice is that people actually go there to dance, so you can just enjoy yourself.
Bottle prices are good & worth it if you're with a group, since you also get a booth to sit at (something you don't get with single drinks).
Overall, it's not about the looks, but the music & vibe make it worth it.
Had a great time! The drinks were super affordable, the DJ had a great sense for the vibes, & lots of people were on the floor by 11ish. Shoutout to manager Naomi!
There was a 12.5 dollar charge at the entrance (card &/or cash) & another 3 dollars for a coat check (cash only). The decor was nice, felt like you were in a resort in the south. The prices of drinks were standard club prices. I would recommend this place if you are into salsa & some reggaeton.
Nous avons passer une très bonne soirée. Bonne musique, tres belle ambiance mais le personnel n'est pas très souriant. 12$ l'entrée, 3$ manteau & 11-12$ sans pourboire les drinks (le moins cher a date que j'ai eu).
If you're into the sleaze bar scene with a Latin twist, this is the place. Great, loud music with a sticky dance floor from dried up split drinks. Did I tell you it has that raunchy bar vibe. 😉 Bar service was fast & with a smile - not typical for a place like this. DJ was excellent - spinning hit after hit song. I highly recommend this place if you're into that sort of scene.
