Sabrosa serves a focused selection of Latin American and Mexican culinary staples with a distinct emphasis on fresh coastal flavors. The menu highlights seasoned proteins paired with vibrant salsas, hand-pressed corn tortillas, and citrus-forward marinades that define regional seafood preparations. Diners encounter a variety of grilled fish dishes featuring bold spices and traditional garnishes that prioritize ingredient integrity. The interior aesthetic reflects a rustic coastal influence, utilizing natural textures and an open layout that centers on the preparation area. Each dish emphasizes the balance between charred savory elements and crisp, acidic components common to pan-Latin cooking traditions. This establishment provides a direct approach to high-quality ingredients by concentrating on foundational cooking techniques and authentic flavor profiles that characterize the diverse maritime coastlines of the Americas.
Sabrosa offers a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of Old Montreal, making it a popular destination for those seeking fresh, flavorful Latin-inspired cuisine. Many diners highlight the excellent quality of the tacos, particularly the birria and al pastor, as well as the refreshing ceviche and creative presentations of dishes like avocado toast. The restaurant features a beautiful, chic decor and a lively patio that is perfect for people-watching. While service experiences can occasionally vary due to the restaurant being consistently busy, many patrons praise the staff for being friendly, attentive, and professional. Despite some mixed feedback regarding portion sizes or cocktail pricing, the overall consensus is that this restaurant provides a memorable and enjoyable dining experience that stands out as a quality choice in a tourist-heavy area.
Had cocktails & tacos after days of French food. The food was a delicious & drinks refreshing - especially in a cactus cup! Service was prompt & friendly. Accommodated our pick kids with no onions or cilantro. The sunny weather made our time on the patio even better. Would definitely come again!
We ordered a salad, El Pastor, calamari, a mojito & beers. I gave 2 stars because on average the waiter & waitresses were polite. The El pastor was very oily that they dripped & I had to ask for extra napkins. The salad was super salty & I complained to my main waiter & he said he never heard that before. I complained to another waitress & she asked me if the service was good & I said sure but the salad is very salty & her response was at least the service was good. I said you know what it's okay & I paid & tipped them 20% & left. The salad was so salty that it was not edible. So they took back the full plate of salad. It seemed the oily El pastor gave me serious indigestion & I didn't sleep well that evening. Please speak with the chef & have him improve the menu because the reception is really good with the young Brazilian friendly girl. Maybe contact Gordon Ramzie before your restaurant becomes a kitchen nightmare. I will not complain about the super small servicing of calamari.
We recently hosted a welcome dinner for all our friends at Sabrosa, & I cannot recommend this place enough! From the moment we booked the event, Carlito & the staff were incredibly helpful & accommodating, making the entire planning process a breeze. The team at Sabrosa went above & beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly on the day of the event. The staff was exceptionally friendly & professional, timing the food service perfectly so that our guests were never left waiting. We got the birria, chicken, & fish tacos, guac, & churros. All the tacos were amazing, & the churros were phenomenal! Our guests were raving about the meal all night long. If you're looking for a place that offers fantastic food, top-notch service, & a warm, welcoming atmosphere, look no further than Sabrosa. They truly made our event special, & we can't wait to come back!
We had a fantastic time at the farewell of our best friend moving to Chicago - Ismail gave us impeccable service & made the time even more special. The rest if us in Montreal will be coming back to Sabrosa (some of us are return comers) on the condition that we can meet Ismail again. Special shoutout to the fish & birria tacos!!!!!
