About

Sabrosa serves a focused selection of Latin American and Mexican culinary staples with a distinct emphasis on fresh coastal flavors. The menu highlights seasoned proteins paired with vibrant salsas, hand-pressed corn tortillas, and citrus-forward marinades that define regional seafood preparations. Diners encounter a variety of grilled fish dishes featuring bold spices and traditional garnishes that prioritize ingredient integrity. The interior aesthetic reflects a rustic coastal influence, utilizing natural textures and an open layout that centers on the preparation area. Each dish emphasizes the balance between charred savory elements and crisp, acidic components common to pan-Latin cooking traditions. This establishment provides a direct approach to high-quality ingredients by concentrating on foundational cooking techniques and authentic flavor profiles that characterize the diverse maritime coastlines of the Americas.

Review Summary

Sabrosa is a popular restaurant located in the heart of Old Montreal, widely appreciated for its vibrant atmosphere and authentic Latin-inspired dishes. Many diners rave about the flavorful tacos, particularly the birria and al pastor varieties, as well as the fresh ceviche and guacamole. While the majority of guests enjoy the attentive service and the beautiful, historic setting of the venue, some visitors have noted inconsistencies with wait times, portion sizes, or occasional issues with the quality of certain side dishes. Despite mixed feedback regarding pricing and the pace of service, the restaurant remains a frequent recommendation for those seeking a lively dining experience with flavorful, well-presented food.

We had the Tacos El Pastor, shrimp ceviche, & guacamole. There are 3 tacos to the plate which is not good value for the price & very oily. The shimp ceviche had maybe 4 or 5 shrimp cut up into pieces. The guacamole was also very small for the price. It was $90 for the 3 dishes & 2 lemonades. The lemonade was very watered down. I would not recommend going here.

The tables are so close together the table beside us was about 12' apart. It was like we were dining with the people beside us.

We didn't get cutlery, nor did the table beside us. The server noticed we didn't have cutlery & commented, but never brought us cutlery. We managed to get someone else to bring us cutlery.

Delicious Mexican food in a chic setting & friendly service. Diverse menu of appetizers, tacos, cocktails & more. Try their guacamole & their crispy chicken tacos, so good!
They offer interior seating & a casual vibe.

Adorable restaurant. We got the guacamole, birria tacos, rice & beans & the two special drinks of the day. The drinks were lovely. The guacamole & the birria tacos were a little bit on the flavorless side, but were fresh. They bring out two different hot sauces & they were both very tasty. The rice & beans were yummy. I would definitely go back & try some other dishes next time.

Food was really good! Service was a little slow, but we were a large party so it was understandable. I definitely recommend the ceviche, the dressing was amazing. The guacamole was very fresh & flavorful too. I had the fried chicken tacos & they were absolutely delicious. The margaritas were also really good. Overall, a great experience & I would definitely go back!

Glad to discover this restaurant! I shared the guacamole, birria tacos, & al pastor tacos. All delicious & good portion sizes. Unfortunately, the churros were still raw in the middle. Other than that, I look forward to coming back to try other dishes.

Made reservations for a Saturday night at this Latin American restaurant in Montreal .

Seated immediately & our waitress was great help & fun . We had an order of guacamole & tortilla chips . Nice & creamy guacamole.

Biria tacos with beef & Monterey cheese were awesome . They are accompanied by a beef consume which may be a bit heavy for some .

I enjoyed my dinner & despite service a little slow it was worth the wait for a Saturday night

All tacos are corn based making the meal gluten friendly

Sabroso is better than it has to be. Located on major strollway in tourist Montreal, the people watching has some fun to it if you are in the mood. The food was excellent. Al Pastor tacos full of flavor with well crafted marinade. Tuna empanada very fresh with lots of good radish & onion accents. Guacamole a little mild for my taste but fresh. Server was working very hard with too many tables & not enough support. Very personable young guy. Sit outside & just soak in the fashion show outside. You might get some tips🇨🇦😂

We went to Sabrosa for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant is located at a prime corner in old town facing the port. This area of old town is lined with many restaurants & street vendors/artists.
The menu has limited vegetarian options given their rice & beans used chicken stock. We ordered guacamole & chips, the quinoa & kale salad & the vegan tacos.
The guacamole & chips were what we expected. The quinoa & kale salad was a simple (mostly kale) salad with a zesty dressing. The vegan tacos come with three tacos, are soft tacos & the filling is guacamole topped with cooked mushrooms. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in lack of flavor. The tacos were stuffed well, however.
We sat outside, though the ambience inside is also nice. Only downside to outside on a nice day is the random bee(s) that keep flying around, trying to land on you or the food.
