Sabrosa is noted for its lively Old Montreal setting, stylish decor, and welcoming vibe, offering a menu built around Mexican-inspired dishes where birria tacos, al pastor, and shrimp tacos are frequently highlighted for flavor, along with fresh guacamole and a range of salsas; portions are generally generous and the atmosphere on the terrace or inside is described as tasty, festive, and family-friendly, though some guests find the menu limited for vegetarians and the authenticity of flavors not always aligned with traditional Mexican cuisine; service is praised when staff are attentive, but experiences of slower service and occasional inconsistencies in dish execution or value were noted, including one report of undercooked churros and another of a heavy sauce affecting certain tacos; overall Sabrosa is seen as a solid, fun option in the touristy Jacques Cartier area with good value for money, a strong taco lineup, and a lively scene that invites a return to try other dishes.
An absolute gem in the heart of Old Montreal!
Sabrosa completely blew us away from the moment we walked in. Tucked inside a stunning historic stone building on Place Jacques-Cartier, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit - it somehow manages to feel vibrant & lively while still being warm & intimate. You can genuinely sense the soul of Mexico City, Lima, & Buenos Aires all woven together under one roof.
But let's talk about the food, because wow. The menu is a love letter to Latin America, & every dish reflects that passion. The ceviche was bright, citrusy, & absolutely fresh - easily the best I've had in Montreal. The birria tacos were rich & deeply flavored, & the nikkei-inspired touches throughout the menu added such a creative, unexpected dimension. Everything is clearly made with real technique & intention, not just thrown together.
The cocktail list deserves its own shoutout - the mezcal & tequila selection is impressive, & the bartenders clearly know what they're doing.
Service was warm, attentive, & genuinely enthusiastic about the food - exactly what you want. Our server walked us through the menu with real knowledge & care.
Whether you're coming for a date night, a group dinner, or just because you deserve something spectacular - Sabrosa delivers every time. Already planning our next visit. ¡Sabrosa indeed!

I would rate this place 3 stars. The restaurant is beautiful, clean, & has very nice decor. The concept leans more toward gourmet Mexican cuisine, which gives it a more'fancy' feel.
However, I wouldn't consider it one of the best Mexican restaurants in Montreal, as it lacks that authentic, traditional flavor. That said, the service was good & overall it's a pleasant place to visit.
Glad to discover this restaurant! I shared the guacamole, birria tacos, & al pastor tacos. All delicious & good portion sizes. Unfortunately, the churros were still raw in the middle. Other than that, I look forward to coming back to try other dishes.
The MOST wonderful eating experience in Montreal thus far on our trip. Wow this restaurant is super welcoming & very well decorated. We had so many different items from the Menu & they were all impeccible. The 3 desserts we had with our coffees (they have three choices) were each so delicious!!! We didn't want to leave. So good. We were all very happy with our meals. A must visit place for a relaxing super delicious meal.

Best place I ate at in Montreal & for a crazy reasonable price! Beautiful location, we just walked in with no reservation during Canada Day, friendly staff, & amazing food.
I got the shrimp tacos & birria tacos which were insane. Also tried my friends enchilada which was also insane. Had a great time honestly. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Sabrosa is a beautiful place to dine in. The decor was absolutely divine & I will say the food was what really brought us it all together. You can never go wrong with birria tacos but the ones at Sabrosa were some of the most delicious & flavourful tacos I've ever had. The portions were generous, leaving all of us completely satisfied. Since we were a group of 6, we were charged a 5$ service fee & the waiter did not ask for additional tips, which we appreciated. We spent a great evening here & I will definitely be coming back to try the other items on the menu
Highly recommend getting food & drink or even just cocktails!
Wonderful decor, really lovely atmosphere & good selection on the menu. Super friendly waitress who was so attentive, gave us recommendations & was serving everyone so well. Thank you for your great service!
Ordered a couple cocktails which tasted so lovely - good layers of flavour, texture & presentation.
We tried the tuna starter which was tasty, maybe a little too fishy, but came with great guac & elements. Papaya salad was refreshing & was lots of it.
Then had the fried chicken tacos & pork tacos - pork was outstanding, chicken was probably more fried batter than actual chicken but it was still tasty & nice selection of hot sauces on the side.
Wish we could've tried the prawn ceviche or the beef biria tacos as those looked great too.
Only slight downside was the price - it adds up quickly! But then the service, drinks & food overall was tasty.

Had a decent experience at Sabrosa. Nice, quaint vibe with good service. Personally I feel the menu items offered are limited but that could also be the reason of a consistent taste of the food. Its also pocket friendly in my opinion.

We went on a weekend at lunch. It wasn't too busy since they hadn't been open for long. We waited for less than a minute in the entrance before a waiter came to seat us.
There menu isn't large but we were happy with the options. We ordered a calamari dish that was good in taste & quality & had a delicious chipotle sauce. For the meal itself, we ordered a mushroom quesadilla & guac. The mushroom quesadilla was a good meal & a good portion. The guac itself was nice & a good amount of tortilla chips to come with. We asked for hot sauce, & they brought two : one mild & one less mild. Though, they were voth reasonably spice.
Note : We split the foods & all the plates were good portions to split between 2 people.
I ordered an espresso martini. The waiter was kind enough to show me the glass it came in before I ordered. I am not a drinker & to say the least the drink wasn't too bad for someone who doesn't like alcohol.
Fantastic experience all around! The food was amazing. We ordered the butter chicken, garlic naan, & two mango lassis, & everything was rich, fresh, & full of flavour. The service truly made the night though. Mohit & Lena took great care of us &, despite saying she doesn't like sweets, Lena was easily the sweetest part of the experience, kind, attentive, & a pleasure to interact with! Big appreciation as well to Shubham & a special shoutout to Mohit for going above & beyond by bringing us extra naan even as they were closing up. That level of hospitality doesn't go unnoticed. An excellent team, great energy, & a place we'd happily return to!
