Ruby's Café Mtl is portrayed in many reviews as a welcoming, dog friendly spot where pets can dine inside, often with a dedicated dog menu, bowls, and even a small fenced area or dog park outside and sometimes a dog pool, which makes it a favorite for brunch with dogs. The atmosphere is repeatedly described as warm, cozy, and lively, with people appreciating the ambiance and the focus on pets as part of the experience. Food receives mixed notes: many praise the quality and variety for humans and pups, from french toast sticks and grilled cheese to meatballs for dogs, while some meals are described as pricey for the value or not as impressive, and a few visits report underwhelming portions or service missteps. Service is noted as both highly attentive and slow or disorganized on busy days, with stories of forgetfulness and late drinks tempered by reports of friendly staff who go the extra mile during tougher moments. The overall sentiment leans positive, especially for dog lovers seeking a place to eat with their four legged friends, with advice to book ahead, be patient at peak times, and enjoy the kid friendly and pet friendly vibe that Ruby's Café Mtl provides.
We went for brunch with our dog, & the place is truly unique, with many thoughtful amenities for pets. As it was our dog's first time in a dining setting, he was a bit stressed, but the staff were absolutely wonderful, very kind & considerate. I highly recommend this spot if you want to enjoy a lovely brunch without having to leave your doggo at home.

Doggyville honestly left a permanent mark on my heart.
I came here with my dog Bolt on what ended up being one of the hardest days of my life. It was his last day with me before being rehomed. I didn't walk in announcing that, & I didn't want sympathy or awkwardness. Somehow, without needing an explanation, the staff handled everything with so much warmth & humanity that it still blows my mind.
Every single person there was incredible. The manager, the host, the waitresses, & even the pet boutique cashiers. Not one weak interaction. They were patient, gentle, accommodating, & genuinely compassionate. They gave Bolt extra attention, extra love, & even thoughtful little presents. It wasn't performative or forced. It felt real. On a day where I was barely holding it together, that kind of care mattered more than they'll ever know.
Bolt was never a difficult dog. He was calm, gentle, easy, & loyal to his core. He gave nothing but love, & Doggyville treated him exactly the way he deserved to be treated. Like he mattered. Like he was special. Like he wasn't just'a dog.'
& I have to talk about the food, because I went in with very low expectations. I fully assumed the food would be bad or gimmicky because it's a dog café. I was completely wrong. The food was genuinely amazing. Like actually good. The kind of place you'd come to even without a dog. I left feeling mad at myself for not discovering this place sooner & not making more memories here with Bolt.
This isn't just a dog café or restaurant. It's a place with real heart behind it. Doggyville will forever be tied to one of the most painful, emotional days of my life, & because of how they handled it, it's tied to gratitude too.
Thank you for being so kind to Bolt. & thank you for being kind to me when I really needed it.
During patio season, our pup is right there with us, but come winter there are so few options to bring him along for indoor restaurant meals… Ruby's really makes you wonder what the big deal with allowing dogs. This place is clean, chill & quiet (when we were there anyway), & super enjoyable!!
The food was great & our pup was thrilled that we ordered him the meatballs.
We were only in town for a few hrs, to pick something up, & Ruby Café was a highlight on that winter day.
We had the best time at Ruby Cafe for brunch. We searched for pet friendly ideas for our day visiting Montreal & found this adorable place. Highly recommend Ruby Cafe!!

We visited Ruby's Montreal Coffee to celebrate our dog Tupper's birthday, & it was perfect. The place was very clean, the service was great, & the food was delicious. Tupper had an amazing time!
We had a wonderful experience! The food was delicious. The staff was incredibly kind, & Ximena was exceptionally lovely with our family, she truly made our visit special. We will definitely be coming back.
Great staff, food & facilities. My only complaint is that there is a strong scent of air freshener which seems to be automatically sprayed every 10 or so minutes. I'm super scent sensitive & unfortunately this will deter me from returning
