Afficher tout chicken(117) poulet(36) portuguese(35) poutine(32) sauce(28) fries(28) piri piri(20) salad(18) sandwich(18) spicy(18) nata(17) recommend(16)I have rated this out of 5 for a fast food restaurant. The staff good (some were great, some were a bit disappointing). The portuguese chicken never fails to hit the spot. The fries & even the salads were much better than is typical for this sort of restaurant.
Came here for takeout. Got the roasted chicken & sausage poutine as well as the Natas (portuguese tarts).
The poutine was delicious - it was packed with juicy roasted chicken & sausage. I typically have a big appetite & eat large portions, but this is next level huge - I had to keep saving leftovers for 3 days to actually finish eating this dish. (You need not worry of going hungry if you order this, I guarantee).
Natas were nice & flaky with a smooth baked custard; it had a good char to the surface which added to the taste. Its worth coming here for the Natas alone, recommended!
Best Portuguese Piri Piri chicken in town. Grilled on a charcoal fire for an exceptional BBQ flavors 😋
If you love natas or you want to discover Portuguese pastry this is the place to go. Don't expect a fancy place but they have the BEST natas in Canada. The coffee is great too. They also have the famous Portuguese chicken which is also sooo delicious. I totally recommend this place.
Hands down the best Portuguese chicken you can find in Montreal. I do not hesitate to always pass by whenever I'm visiting town. Their chicken sandwich is mouth watering.
Romados seems to be the underdog of the Portuguese restaurant scene, but what they lack in bark, they make up for in bite.
No flashy signs, no Instagram traps, no gimmicky slogans - just pure, fire-grilled greatness served up with a side of humility & a punch of peri peri heat.
I tried the chicken sandwich. Moist, spicy, & stacked like it's trying to prove a point. The bifana sandwich? Equally loaded, tender, & unapologetically saucy.
& the two meats choriço & chicken poutine? I wasn't ready. Real cheese curds, actual grilled choriço, & juicy chicken - this is the kind of dish that quietly ruins all future poutines for you.
The only thing missing is the soul. The space is actually more spacious & comfortable than most competitors, but it feels oddly quiet - like someone turned down the volume on what should be a Portuguese fiesta. No music, no energy, no vibe to match the fire coming off that grill.
Four stars because while the food is loud & proud, the atmosphere is stuck in neutral. Still, if you're in it for flavor over flair, Romados delivers a knockout every time.
Great Portuguese spot, fast service & fair pricing.
The good slaps.
Great poutine. The small without meat was more than enough for 2 looking for a snack. More would have been too heavy. We liked the helpful, friendly staff & the Portuguese pops they had in the fridge.
Ok, so you know, it is 5 stars for the food, the 4 stars have nothing to do with the food.
A staple in Montreal since Fernando Machado opened Romados in 1994. George Karaglanis & Vicki Eliopoulos took over Romados, a Portuguese chicken restaurant in from the Machado family in 2021.
This place has character, history, tradition, pride, & has become a staple in the Montreal foodservice scene akin to Schwartz's on the Main.
They have been pumping out some of the best Portuguese rotisserie chicken in the city, & whenever I am hungry & in the area I end up having an impulsive meal filled with perfectly home made french fries & succulent chicken that rivals any competitor. To not eat here is a restaurant experience sin!
Atmosphere is nothing to speak of & service is pretty good given the (what always seems like) a constant line of people rushing to eat.
Go, eat, enjoy, & tell me I am wrong - I dare you.
Casual restaurant specializing in Portuguese-style rotisserie chicken, fries & pasteis de nata. I tagged along with a meat eater; there weren't many vegan options for me other than fries & a side salad.
Great spot for grilled Portuguese chicken! The chicken was juicy & flavorful, & the chicken sandwich was equally delicious. Their spicy sauce added a perfect kick, though the rice could use more seasoning. Overall, a solid place for a tasty, casual meal!
First time visiting this restaurant. Good traditional Portuguese food. Limited eat-in seating, but it was not that busy, so seating was not an issue. I was, however, very disappointed by the server who prepared my dish. I ordered a chicken dish & I asked for more potatoes than rice. Her response was to give me the same amount of potatoes & half the rice as the person whom I was with. Yes, that "technically" satisfies the request, but definitely not what a reasonable person would do. I felt that it was insulting & a slap in the face. I'm not sure that I will actively return to this restaurant nor recommend it to others - albeit time will tell.
Great local spot, staff is friendly as can be (my French is rusty, apologies, New Brunswick changed its programming for French four times in my academic career; my Portuguese is non-existent, & speaking Spanish would just bewilder them, I assume) in English, French, or Portuguese. Solid Piri Piri Chicken poutine, insanely good Bifana. & the prices are good, too. Also, if you want some fresh crusty rolls, they're cheap as can be. ($1.99 for 6 fresh rolls? Sign me up!)
