Rotisserie Chalet Bar-B-Q opened its doors in August 1944. Over the years we have built a legendary reputation for the best roast chicken in the world. This really is the connoisseur's choice! We selectively buy wholesale chicken, always fresh and plump. Our chickens are slowly roasted in brick kilns on real maple charcoal. We ensure that all our chickens are gold and crisp on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. When served with our famous home-made dipping sauce, nothing compares. Simply delicious. Eigentlich bin ich kein Hähnchen Fan. Muss aber sagen , dass es mir sehr gut geschmeckt hat. Meine Freunde waren ebenfalls positiv überrascht. Ich kann das hot Chicken Sandwich nur empfehlen und die Bratensauce dazu war sehr gut. Die Sauce war nicht zu scharf und die Zimt Note war gut.View more

Always a nostalgic meal at Chalet Bar-B-Q, a must-visit when we return home for comforting & familiar Montreal food, along with smoked meat & bagels, of course! The decor is dated but that is what makes it so charming. Chicken is always perfectly cooked - they are the only ones in Montreal still allowed to use charcoal, & their's is red cherrywood. It complete elevates the chicken. French fries are plentiful & perfect, especially with their nonstop supply of sauce. I want to also mention Tina, our server, who is joy personified & the most attentive waitperson imaginable. She took the best possible care of us & we left with full bellies & smiles on our faces.View more

Chicken is great. Sauce is great. Service is great. Not many options to choose from (which is great for me, too many options make it harder to choose).

It's on Sherbrooke street in NDG just off the Decarie. A real true montreal historical chicken institution. Some where you go with your parents after a great hockey game & it just feels like home. The memories! ...
The food is even better than a description can give. The chicken is soooooo juicy & the flavor from the rotisserie process leaves the meat with a beautiful... je ne sais pas... I would say it's kissed with deliciousness 😋 lol...
Check out the photos. Order the special table d'hote. That's French for'order me'. It is a 1/4 chicken plus fries, sauce, bread & Cole slaw or soup. Both are awesome. Extra charges for breast but it's worth it. Always go for the breasts my dad used to say 😆 ...

Best chicken on earth plane & simple! So juicy & tender. The skin is to die for, tastes like charcoal hardcore. The fries are the best fries I've ever ate, the sauce & coleslaw too! This chicken place is one of the best in Montreal. The chicken is of good quality & well prepared-not dry nor flavourless like grocery chicken. The sauce is made with real chicken fat, not glucose or other chemical mix; also it is not overly salty, the kind you need to drink a galon of water after eating. The fries are made with real wholesome potatoes. Overall the chicken plates are worth it. However, what is beyond delicious is their poutine. It is the BEST that I have ever had in Montreal. Awesome service, even if it was end of day, it was super friendly... you know when you want friendly service in a restaurant, treat them how you want to be treated & you get the respect right back. The waitress deserved her 20% tip! They are celebrating their 80th anniversary this year... found out yesterday evening that my friend Ken worked their as a teenager about 40 years ago... he was explaining to us how they used to make their coleslaw, BBQ Chicken & he still loves the place after all these years... After talking with our waitress everything is made just like back in the day! If you're looking for Montreal's best chicken, look no further... The decor inside is old school (1960's), but it has it's charm, reminded me of my childhood in the 80's. The lighting is a little dim, but it has its charm, it goes well with the design of the place. You feel like you walk in a Montreal 80 year old business... I'm not saying age is a bad, but in their case, it's what attests it's food quality... 80 years of perfecting the art of roasting chicken. I took a picture on their menu... nothing complicated, they KNOW their chicken! We are in 2024, not 1944, so it's normal that portions have changed, prices too... but how many places in 2024 in Montreal offer fresh delicious meals under 15$? I have no idea why I've waited so long to come taste this institution in Montreal? Now you will notice I have it 5 stars for atmosphere even though it's all original & out dated. The reason why? Because it's out dated ! It's like going back into one's childhood & it's nostalgic. Food is yummy & predictably delicious. Portions are generous & the home made crisp fries & BBQ sauce are to die for. The chicken in any form is awesome because it a hot chicken sandwich or rotisserie style yummy. Pricing & value are totally there & a great place for a family meal.
