About us
Rotisserie Chalet Bar-B-Q opened its doors in August 1944. Over the years we have built a legendary reputation for the best roast chicken in the world. This really is the connoisseur's choice! We selectively buy wholesale chicken, always fresh and plump. Our chickens are slowly roasted in brick kilns on real maple charcoal. We ensure that all our chickens are gold and crisp on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. When served with our famous home-made dipping sauce, nothing compares. Simply delicious. Always a nostalgic meal at Chalet Bar-B-Q, a must-visit when we return home for comforting & familiar Montreal food, along with smoked meat & bagels, of course! The decor is dated but that is what makes it so charming. Chicken is always perfectly cooked - they are the only ones in Montreal still allowed to use charcoal, & their's is red cherrywood. It complete elevates the chicken. French fries are plentiful & perfect, especially with their nonstop supply of sauce. I want to also mention Tina, our server, who is joy personified & the most attentive waitperson imaginable. She took the best possible care of us & we left with full bellies & smiles on our faces.View more

This is my tenth Google review. I started on a whim one day & I enjoy it! Happy you are taking the time to read this one. It is a special place for my 10th! Chalet BBQ! It's on Sherbrooke street in NDG just off the Decarie. A real true montreal historical chicken institution. Some where you go with your parents after a great hockey game & it just feels like home. The memories! ...
The food is even better than a description can give. The chicken is soooooo juicy & the flavor from the rotisserie process leaves the meat with a beautiful... je ne sais pas... I would say it's kissed with deliciousness 😋 lol...
Check out the photos. Order the special table d'hote. That's French for'order me'. It is a 1/4 chicken plus fries, sauce, bread & Cole slaw or soup. Both are awesome. Extra charges for breast but it's worth it. Always go for the breasts my dad used to say 😆 ...

Best chicken on earth plane & simple! So juicy & tender. The skin is to die for, tastes like charcoal hardcore. The fries are the best fries I've ever ate, the sauce & coleslaw too! I've been going to chalet bbq since I'm a young child, always stayed the same. The atmosphere is old & rustic, it has its charm, the waitresses are so nice.The ultimate comfort food! The restaurant looks very nice & inviting. The problem with the tables is that they cannot very well accommodate 4 people & they have a limited number of big tables. The food is nice. I recommend the chicken breast over chicken legs because the leg was small & very fatty. We went there a little late & we think this why the fries were stale. Some of the staff, especially the lady that served us, were very nice & friendly. For the price & quality of service, I think it's a good deal.View more

One should note that the dinning room closes at 9PM. Only takeout section is open till 10PM. Chalet Bar-B-Q is what your Anthony Bourdain dreams are made of! Only a handful of places like this scream "Montreal" like Céline Dion. Chalet puts St-Hubert chicken & french fries to shame. Chalet Bar-B-Q is one of the best places to get roast chicken here in the city. The last time I was here was probably a while ago but I hope to eat in this restaurant when this pandemic is over. From What I remembered. The service is decent because it was not as crowded as it used to be it was on a weekend as well but pretty busy. The chicken, fries side dishes were delicious & cooked to perfection. I had no issues with the food for dining in at the time. The last time I was there 5 years ago & it is one of my favorite chicken places in the city. The only thing is that it is pretty far for me since it is located close to downtown but in the N.D.G. area. However it is walkable from Villa-Maria & Vendome metro. There is also parking in the street & at the back. During the pandemic their times have changed & I believe they only accept takeout & delivery but no dining. 28 July, 2024 20:00. This Chalet BBQ is the best chicken place in the city. Pros: A) Our make server don't know his name is bilingual & very polite he is a male. B) The Cesar salad as a starter was good & simple & the chicken soup was hot & not like warm. Both were delicious. C) The chicken & baked potato were delicious & seasoned perfectly especially the chicken. D) The location is perfect as it's near the highway & not far from Vendome Metro. Cons: A) Washrooms is old & needs renovation. B) Parking is pretty tight but it's nice that they have parking for clients. Other than that. This a hidden gem & I want to comeback to visit & show tourists & visitors this chicken spot is the best in MTL. God Bless!!! In the future I hope to try & check it out. This chicken place is one of the best in Montreal. The chicken is of good quality & well prepared-not dry nor flavourless like grocery chicken. The sauce is made with real chicken fat, not glucose or other chemical mix; also it is not overly salty, the kind you need to drink a galon of water after eating. The fries are made with real wholesome potatoes. Overall the chicken plates are worth it. However, what is beyond delicious is their poutine. It is the BEST that I have ever had in Montreal. Been wanting to try this place for years & today it finally happened! I absolutely love the decor inside. It feels like your grandmother's cottage. Staff was ultra friendly & the food service was super fast. I have to say that they're gravy is quite possibly the best gravy I've ever had in my life.the rotisserie chicken & french fries were also right on the money. Came back to here after a couple of years & it's even better than I remember. The gravy has got this special something about it that compliments the chicken so well. The chicken breast is the juiciest I've ever had. Combined with the homestyle fries & slaw, this place is one of the few institutions of Montreal that need to be preserved.
