Portogallo Restaurant, formerly known as "Portugalia" has officially re-opened its doors! Under new management, we are excited to bring back the authentic, charcoal-grilled Portuguese chicken that has been catering to Montreal for over 30 years!

Very crowded , the cashier was nice but no one else acknowledges you in the place - took over 25 minutes for 1 poutine & then when I got it was skimmed over & cold. Small chopped up pieces of chicken bits , I would not say best in the city.
Definitely reserve if you're going at dinner time. We arrived around 5:45 PM & the place was already full.
Food is worth the trip.
The grilled chicken is juicy, well seasoned, & cooked properly over the grill. Their spicy sauce & spicy mayo are both really good.
We ordered the'tour du chapeau' (beef ribs, veal escalope, chicken escalope), a full chicken, & a classic poutine for a group of 5 adults & 2 kids. Portions were generous & easy to share.
Each plate comes with 2 sides, which is nice. Choices are fries, potatoes, rice, or salad. They were out of potatoes that night, though.
Service felt a bit overwhelmed at first, but the staff was kind, caring, & figured things out quickly. Food also came out fast despite how busy it was.

The food is amazing & the staff is incredibly warm & welcoming. I was stuck outside my apartment because my door froze, & I came into Portugalia to wait. They welcomed me right away & even offered me a poutine (genuinely one of the best I've had in Montreal).
Thank you again for the kindness, generosity, & amazing food. I won't forget this experience!
This is called Portugalia Poutine Supremo. I asked them to make it especially for me. Instead of fries I asked for portugués roast ball potatoes, curds, sauce, grilled chicken & piri piri sauce supremo!! Excellent!!
Cool small sit down spot. This was the best choice, initially we wanted to eat at ma poulet but we did not want to wait on the long line. So glad we found this restaurant!
Ordered the Demi-demi with rice & salad & the classic poutine. Perfect for two persons & had left overs.
Meats were grilled with flavorful & opted for spicy. Would recommend eating here.

Had to wait a little for our order, but was definitely worth it in the end. The meat was great value for money & had a lovely charcoal flavour - I also really enjoyed their poutine! Hard to believe it was a mini size 😳
La poutine au poulet avec leur sauce épicée est de loin la meilleure poutine que j'ai mangé à Montréal. Un délice. La portion est généreuse, le poulet est extra. La sauce épicée vient relevé le tout. Vraiment un gros coup de coeur.
Amazing chicken, super friendly staff. Tried the poutine with chicken. Medium size was way too big for me & small would have been fine. The chicken was so good that I would not get poutine next time, since poutine is so overwhelming.
