Review Summary

Pichai offers a creative and bold approach to Thai cuisine, frequently praised for its inventive, flavorful dishes and an impressive selection of natural wines. Many diners find the experience to be a culinary highlight, particularly noting the scallops, grilled pork, and signature Thai tea tiramisu as standout items. While the atmosphere is generally described as vibrant, cool, and cozy, the environment can be noisy and dim, with some guests finding the seating uncomfortable or the service inconsistent depending on the evening. Opinions on the pricing and portion sizes are divided, as some appreciate the quality of the shared plates, while others feel the value is lacking or the food is overly salty. Despite mixed reports regarding hospitality and pacing, many patrons consider it one of the top dining destinations in Montreal and look forward to returning.

Wow, where to start.

Overall a fantastic dining experience. I highly recommend the mushroom salad & the raw scallops & pork belly were good as well. What really stood out in our experience was not specifically the service of our waitress but of the support staff. The bussers, the pass, & even hosts were all very kind & I think speaks highly about what kind of operation they are running at Pichai. I can't wait to come back to try more things.

Terrible food & poor service.

The grilled pork collar was overwhelmingly salty & spicy. I let the server know & asked if the dish could be adjusted to make it less salty & less spicy. She simply said,'Unfortunately, no,' & walked away.

Overall, every dish we had was too salty & heavily over-seasoned. The spices completely overpowered the main ingredients, so it was hard to taste the actual flavor of the food.

Very disappointing experience, especially given the reputation & price point.

This venue is absolutely wonderful & boasts an amazing selection of things for everyone to see. No matter your preferences, you can find something that catches your eye. The entire environment feels warm, cheerful, & kind. The staff is consistently prompt & helpful. I look forward to making another visit here to see the rest.

Good atmosphere & service. The food was good but not memorable. The pork belly was extremely salty even when wrapped with the cabbage.

Great food & drinks, probably best if you can tolerate spicy foods & peanuts - as with most Thai places!

This was my second visit, & it was just as delicious as my first! Each dish has unique flavors & fresh ingredients. Can't wait for my next trip to Montreal so I can visit again.

Absolutely superb Thai restaurant, excellent food & friendly staff. The shaved mint choc ice is a must!

Rude & obnoxious servers. Ignorance & attitude instead of service. I was embarrassed to have brought my young son for dinner here. If I was dining alone I would have given these ignorant people a piece of my mind. Awful experience. Never to return.

Food did not live up to the hype. Everything was overly salty I couldn't taste the Thai flavours from all the salt they added.

Patio server also did everything but serve us. Not once did she check on us the whole time we were there & made us feel basically invisible.

Really unfortunate because I've always had such a great experience at Pumpui Restaurant (same establishment).
