I went in not even sure what the menu had in store. I didn't do my homework. I didn't come prepared. But sometimes in life, it's when we least expect something that we are truly delighted. That was the case at Pichai.

As a group of 6, we were recommended to order about 12-13 dishes. We got away with about 10 & everyone was full by the end. The flavors from the pork collar, scallops, pork belly & dumplings were surprising yet complementary. Dazzling pops of lime, cilantro & choy to round out the salty & the spicy meats.

But the masterpiece, the coup de gras, the show-stopping number of the evening was the Egg... this was a capital'E' Egg - soft boiled & fried, dressed to the nines in a stunning savory sauce, cilantro & hot peppers. Massive kudos to the genius chefs that devised this Egg. This was the only dish we ordered twice because it was so amazing. I will be coming back for this Egg.

The servers were beyond fantastic... detailed & swift. They explained the adventurous menu well & made great suggestions.

The ambiance was also great. We did shamelessly whip out our phones to Shazam some songs playing over the PA.

If you feel like eating thrilling food with unique, delicate details, Pichai is the place.

Delicious, authentic, & inventive Thai food - we ordered the pork belly, pork collar, tapioca pork dumplings, scallops from the regular menu & a couple of items off of their weekly menu that were delightful: the radish cakes & the raw tuna. They're shareable, punchy, balanced, & full of flavor & balanced.

Fun spot - crowded, even on a Wednesday night, but the decor is very tasteful & the dining room is cozy.

We met another couple who had been before. We were warmly received. Our waitress Paras was excellent. She definitely knew how to upsell. As they promote'family style' which is popular these days with restaurants as it is effective in getting customers to spend more. We had several plates starting with the fish balls. These were good but a bit chewy for my taste. The sticky rice was way too sticky. Then we had the fermented pork which was tasty. Then the dumplings which were also good. We had some marinated tuna from a secondary menu which was delicious & the arctic char which was whole fish. It was spicy & delicious as well. I found the food flavourful & the service was excellent. The shortcomings were the sticky rice which needs to be worked on. I also found the wine list was super expensive with no budget options. I also didn't like our seating as our booth for 4 was awkward & uncomfortable. A bit of work needed to get to 5 stars but a pleasant & somewhat pricey experience with wine. Would recommend.

This is better than i expected. I really love Khor moo yang. It has the grilling smell & the pork is perfectly grilled.. not too chewy.. & the taste pretty amazing, full of flavor sour, salty, spicy. The scalop with the seafood sauce is nice but the sauce is very strong like salty hits & sour came after but overall is well done. I love the thai tea tiramisu ( its a bit sweet) but after many bites its all great. Its take awhile to get the place. We came at 7 pm & We didnt make any reservations so we didnt get the spot so we ask for available time is 9 Pm. The atmosphere is so so , loud & the light is really dimming.

I didn't enjoy most of the food they had to offer. fish balls (decent) , pork belly (overly fatty), arctic char (excellent), & pad krapao clams (mix of raw & overcooked basil with inedible parts such as stems & flowers, very little clams), Thai tea tiramisu (in my opinion they don't pair well together). Overall was not blown away like other diners sadly.

SPEECHLESS. Like I don't have the words or the emotional range to handle how good Pichai was. Every single dish was so intentionally crafted it felt like someone sat down & wrote a love letter to flavor, folded it into origami, & served it to me on a plate.

I would literally recommend every single thing we had. Multiple times. To strangers. On the street. At traffic lights. But if I have to pick, the raw scallops, the grilled pork neck, & the Thai tea tiramisu , would win the votes tonight.

I'm already plotting my return. I know I'll dream about Pichai till then.

Every bite was an absolute delight. Ordered the green curry (special menu), pork meatballs, & fish balls. Even the beans in the curry had the most perfect crunch. Staff was great & very helpful :)

Overall the food was good, but a bit pricey. We ordered three dishes & a dessert to share. I also ordered one glass of wine. The bill ended up being 90+ after tax & tip.

I liked the duck heart quite a lot. The pork was a bit salty but okay if you eat it with the sticky rice. It was my first time learning that Thai food can be eaten like BBQ, e.g., wrapping the meat & rice with cabbage. Quite interesting. The fish was good, tasted like it was cooked with Tom Yum Goong Soup. I liked it at the beginning but the whole fish was quite big for two people. In the end, it felt a bit greasy.

The restaurant is quite cute with a small patio outside in the neighborhood. It was a bit rainy & cool the day we went, but it was okay sitting outside with heating on.

Cute Thai place, vibes are pretty good & staff was friendly. The food was a bit overpriced in my opinion & the grilled pork special was tough to chew.

Love pumpui so had to give Pichai a try & it did NOT disappoint. Food was incredible - the scallops & fermented pork were notable standouts. Service was also incredible- thoughtful staff & excellent timing of bringing out each dish. Could not recommend this place enough !!!

Unfortunately as other reviews state, I came here with very high expectations from everything I had read & having lived in Thailand I was excited to go to an authentic Isaak place again. We sat at the bar & the service was quite good & we were always taken care off. As it's a sharing style we ordered the scallops which were the only dish we fully enjoyed. From there on the laab, fermented pork & the mushrooms were so so seasoned & salty that we couldn't finish any of those dishes. From the dishes being unbearable after the first few bites we just couldn't taste or eat anymore from just being overwhelmed. The wine selection is great, with European & Canadian natural wine options, so that can keep you entertained. The atmosphere was a bit cold, & the food came too quick which didn't make the experience something special, particularly for the prices that were charging. Felt good to read the reviews here & see I wasn't alone in this.

Look like a pub more than resto. Som tam is too sour, pork belly is too salty, pork ball is so bland, they use tamrin too much in their food, the rest are ok. Service is polite .

We have mixed feelings about Pichai. On the one hand, we enjoyed good personable service (if a tad hurried) though none of the rudeness experienced by some other diners; on the other hand, the quality of the entrees were hit or miss so 100% satisfaction is NOT guaranteed. But perhaps what Pichai may be most faulted for is the poor price-quantity value ratio. It clearly attempts to be an upper-class, fancy, quasi fine tapas eatery but while the prices are premium (other words, expensive), the ambiance, service & overall feeling are not up to expectations & do not warrant these hefty prices. Also, at one point, there was a 25 min wait between the 3rd & 4th dishes which was awkward & broke the rhythm of the evening. The fish ball appetizer ($4/two balls so $12 for three diners, two each) while tasty, was way overpriced & terribly easy to prepare. One could easily purchase an entire 1kilo bag of fish balls for $8 (50-60 pieces) at the supermarket, dunk them in an air fryer, pour over some bottled Thai sweet sauce & sprinkle some fried onion crisps. With this ultra low cost, Pichai could have offered this appetizer as an amuse-bouche & utilized it to elevate the entire Pichai experience instead of it now leaving a bitter after taste. The raw scallops were delicious in every sense. Once again, though, at $28 for a plate of 8 mini scallops, it was way overpriced. The pork collar was absolutely delicious & acceptably priced. The pork belly was so overly salty to the point of being inedible so that was a clear miss. The shrimp with egg was divine & the shrimps were well sized. We were not unanimous on the green curry with bourgot because two of us felt that the curry was overly sweet. The grilled chicken thigh was tasty but not exceptionally so. They also charged us $3 for an extra little bowl of rice. In a nutshell, as much as we would have loved to walk out of Pichau, wanting again to return, we do not collectively believe that we would revisit as there was a serious lack in value. Most dishes, all tapas-sized & single bites, are $25-38 each so the bill piles up very quickly for what are simple snacks. At this price point, the service, ambiance & penny-pinching do not hold water & Pichai fails to entice us to revisit. Pity that.

I tried Pichai for the first time with my friend yesterday & we had a great time as the service was great! My favourite dishes were the fried fish balls & the tapioca pork dumplings! The food is extremely flavourful, but keep in mind that its very garlicky & some of the dishes were a bit too salty for my taste. Bring mints if you're coming for date night!

Very innovative dishes that we'd not had before at a Thai restaurant. Shrimp with shallots & asparagus with pork were both amazing. Massaman curry was vegan but incredible. Waiter was very helpful both in selecting dishes & how much to order.

Pretty good food & great wine list & cocktails. The pork dumplings fell flat, the fish was great as were the scallops & curry.

Best Thai food I've had since being in southeast Asia. Got 3 menu items (the pork neck, chicken legs, & Som Tham) & for 2 people that was a lot. Came with sticky rice. Extensive wine list, but only 2 cocktails (which is cool, they're a wine bar). Food was absolutely crazy for how much you pay per person. Worth making the trip from wherever you are in Montreal.
