We went with high expectations given all the reviews & local hype. The food was mediocre at best. While conceptually, the menu was interesting, the actual plates were underwhelming.
The service was excellent except there being two times where we were served the dishes for another table--& quickly retreated by the waiter.
THAT WAS A 10. On a mangé au bar, quel excellant choix. Service incroyable de la part du serveur & du chef qui nous ont fait sentir comme si on faisait partie de la famille. Service chaleureux & nourriture excellente qui a détrôner tous nos musts.
Parapluie is easily one of the most highly regarded restaurants in Montreal, & I can fully vouch for its reputation. The ambience is amazing, intimate, creative, & full of energy. I highly recommend sitting at the bar so you can watch the magic happen right in front of you, it's incredible what they produce out of such a humble open kitchen.
Every dish had its own identity & beauty, showcasing real skill & imagination. The menu rotates seasonally, which makes me even more excited to come back. We loved everything we ordered, but the trout was a standout, truly one of the best bites of food in Montreal.

OMG this place was an experience! You get to watch a true culinary art being created right in front of you. The food… absolutely incredible - every bite bursting with flavor & beautifully presented. The atmosphere is lively yet intimate, & the staff make you feel like you're part of the show. Truly a must-try for anyone who loves great food & a unique dining experience! 5 stars but they need to add a coffee at the end.
This was a very special meal. Every dish was interesting & tasty, but subtle & elegant. Beautiful wine was reasonably priced. the service was kind, professional & made the experience comfortable enough to come back regularly. The chef is a master saucier.
Nous avons fêté l'anniversaire de ma copine & c'était une expérience exceptionnelle. Installés au bar, nous avions une vue directe sur le chef en action - un vrai spectacle culinaire qui ajoute beaucoup à l'expérience.
La cuisine est raffinée, créative & met en valeur des produits locaux. La carte est composée chaque jour en fonction de ce que le chef trouve au marché, ce qui donne des plats frais, surprenants & parfaitement exécutés.
Un service chaleureux, une ambiance conviviale & une attention particulière aux détails rendent le moment encore plus agréable.
Bref, une superbe adresse que je recommande vivement à ceux qui veulent découvrir une cuisine locale inventive dans une atmosphère unique. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter !

Lobster & mayo eggs dish is a must try !! The dessert is so simple & deliciously good!!! Don't usually order beef tartare because lots of place has that sour taste but their tartare has the best texture & the taste just right!!!
Nous avons tout simplement adoré notre expérience : la qualité & la fraîcheur des plats, le service attentionné ainsi que l'ambiance chaleureuse ont été au rendez-vous. Nous recommandons sans hésiter.

Amazing food & service.
However, the day we went, it was on a hot Mtl day & it felt like a sauna. Incredibly stuffy & hot. The heat of the kitchen didn't help either.
The restaurant should seriously invest in A/C for hot summer days instead of fans to ensure that their clients are comfortable.
Quelle déception ! Les critiques semblaient unanimes mais ce n'est pas l'expérience que l'on espérait. 20 min d'attente pour avoir la table. Service très inégal. La maîtresse d'hôtel (ou responsable de salle) était très efficace & connaît son métier mais le grand serveur très nonchalant qui conseille des vins sans rien y connaître n'a rien à faire en restauration, encore moins dans un resto qui affiche de tels prix. Parlons prix justement… ceux des vins sont astronomiques… un seul choix dans chaque catégorie dans les 70 $ & après on s'envole …. On nous a trouvé par miracle un beaujolais (où était correct mais pas plus) à 72$ dans les orphelines servi beaucoup trop froid… les plats sont bons mais trop petits & trop chers pour la complexité & la quantité de protéine. Bref, si vous voulez être vus dans le resto à la mode, c'est parfait. Si vous voulez être voulez une bonne bouffe & du bon vin sans laisser un rein, il y a plusieurs autres bonnes adresses à Montréal
The food & service were so good!
Super fresh ingredients, great combinations of textures, put together perfectly.
Only downside is the day we went, it was during a heatwave & it was super hot in the restaurant.
& it took awhile for our main course to arrive. At some point I just wanted to leave to get some fresh air. I was sweating so much by the end of the meal, I didn't even want to stay a second longer & have dessert.
