Been twice & really liked the experience. The food was super yummy along with the miso soup & salad. The price is affordable compared to other restaurants nowadays. Only first time we waited for long time to be served & to get our food but it was pretty busy that day & they only have one server in the whole place so I can understand. The second time there were not too may ppl so it was fast. I love their tofu soup & rice cake meal, was so special & tasty. Would like to visit more!
Super ambiance, repas juste parfait !

I love this place. My family & I come here often. But, regarding the new menu, I am not convinced about the changes. I miss the sundubu jjigae & the beef/seafood udon. Also, the salad with the ginger vinaigrette... I hope the restaurant brings them back soon !
We were excited to return to Makoto after its closure during the holidays, but we were disappointed with the menu changes as well as the presentation. We ordered the Katsu chicken & noticed that the new side dish (potatoes, Green beans, mushrooms) as well as the rice were served cold. We preferred the previous side, which consisted of a salad with a variety of vegetables & the delicious dressing that paired so well with the dumplings & rice. We also noticed that the chicken's breading was more crumbly. Overall, our experience was less satisfying than usual. We hope that the restaurant will consider bringing back elements of the previous menu, which we greatly enjoyed.
Absolutely delicious food, cooked with such care. The tofu teriyaki is my go-to: always good. The agedashi tofu is delicious & the Tteok-kochi was perfection! Crispy outside, chewy inside, perfectly spicy. Miso soup & a fresh & delicious salad come with every meal. This place is a wonderful find! Super yummy, affordable food, & the service is wonderful as well.
So tasty!! & the price point is right on!! The tofu salad is so surprisingly good, the tofu has such a great texture! Pork Katsu is delicious too. Definitely will be ordering again.
This spot is amazing. Great new find. I'm not sure how other rate it lower than 4-5 stars. The portions are big, & you get a miso soup with a salad for below average price, that's unbeatable at this day & age.
The food came really fast. There's only one waiter yet he managed to serve us politely & pack the food for the other tables & take other orders or pay bill. He's very efficient.
More detail on the food: (if you're willing to read)
I haven't had a good pancake like that in awhile. Not too much better & just the right amount of crispy with veggies. It wasn't too overcooked like some place & oily.
The Katsu had more batter but still very crispy. But this is my preference bc I don't like batter & carbs, I can go protein all day.
The karage has good amount of meat. A bit on the firmer side than the juicy soft but maybe it's the chicken breast rather than other parts of the chicken.
The salad entré has great flavor with olives, tomatoes & greens. The miso was also great. I usually don't like the grainy dense texture but it didn't bother me & wasn't salty like some places.
This is my first time trying the Okonomiyaki & it was amazing. It was filling. I wished it had more protein but again this is just me. There's good amount of sauce & full of veggies. Can't go wrong! I loved it, I was so full after that even though I shouldn't be eating like that on my cut.
Sorry for not taking picture before devouring it! 😅
Good food, fantastic presentation (a lot of care was placed into the dish as it included soup, salad & ginger too) & service was excellent. I was getting take out & the host invited me to sit & brought me a cup of tea. It was a really thoughtful & kind gesture when I was having a rough day. I will definitely be back.
I really liked the free salad & tteokkochi. The tempura udon's broth was unfortunately a bit flavorless to me, the noodles were cooked nicely, tempura were perfectly crunchy & crispy & it came with a decent amount of other toppings. But the lacking broth really made it disappointing.
