Unique seafood restaurant which you can choose your seafood fresh and we cooked it for you the way you like it and adding our Mediterranean touches. Originally from a port city on the Mediterranean has its reputation of seafood meal we have to meet the high expectations that it comes with the name CANAL.
Le Canal offre une expérience de fruits de mer frais dans une ambiance familiale et décontractée au bord du canal, avec des saveurs méditerranéennes et des influences égyptiennes qui séduisent les amateurs de poisson. Les clients peuvent choisir leur poisson au comptoir et le faire préparer sur place, ce qui donne des plats généreux et bien présentés. Le service est globalement chaleureux et attentif, mais peut être un peu lent lorsque la salle est occupée, tandis que la propreté et l'ambiance conviviale renforcent l'impression d'une expérience familiale. Les plats phares incluent poulpe grillé, crevettes, calamars et dorade, les portions sont généreuses et le rapport qualité-prix est généralement jugé favorable pour la fraîcheur et la présentation. Certains avis notent des temps d'attente et des écarts en fonction de l'affluence, et un cas isolé d'intoxication alimentaire attribué à un plat de poulpe. Dans l'ensemble, Le Canal est souvent recommandé et les visiteurs promettent de revenir pour la fraîcheur des produits, la diversité des plats et l'accueil chaleureux.
It does not look like much, but the food is simply great, very fresh & reasonably priced. Shrimps are probably the best dish, but I've never had a bad experience, going to come back for more. Dining in is an option, takeout is great & not all plastic.
Fantastic Egyptian fish!!!! This is as good as - if not better - than fish we get in Egypt!! Feels like im in Cairo, or Hurghada, or Sharm… yummy yummy fish. The kids devoured the salad, the shrimps, the mussels, the fish…. We all devoured & enjoyed everything & did not once stop to take pictures. Service is a little slow because they were busy (which they deserve!) but the staff are kind & friendly. Will be coming back for sure!
I recently discovered this restaurant & I am officially hooked! They have incredibly fresh sea food that you can choose from over the counter. Don't let yourself get fooled by what the interior looks like - everything is in the quality of the food. The shrimps & the octopus salad are delicious - & the fries…unexpectedly the best I have ever had in my life!
This a great place for fresh fish & chips at a reasonable price. Parking is not a problem as it's located at a small shopping plaza. Of course there are other things on the menu like shrimp & octopus if that's what you fancy. The place is not huge & it's simplistic inside with basic chairs & table & an all glass storefront so the ambiance of the place is not one of its selling points. You need to place your order at the cash once you've studied the menu & they give you a number to place at your table where they will deliver your food to you. Take note that you can buy fresh fish & seafood there to make your own meals at home. We've been there 3 times already when we visit the west island as we reside in Ontario. Staff are super friendly & helpful which always makes for a more enjoyable meal.
A lot of people even it's passed lunch time. Better to make reservations. You pick up what you want to eat at the fish counter. They will prepare it for you. Tiger shrimps highly recommended. Love the octopus.

I loved the concept: a good fishmonger with tables. It sounds deceptively simple, but it really works! We got to pick our fresh fish, octopus, shrimp, etc. ourselves, then had it cooked according to our specifications & served immediately. The result was delicious & very fresh seafood, provided at decent prices & presented with a smile.
The batter on our shrimp was impossibly light & flaky, while keeping a consistent crunch; it was like an even lighter tempura. Paired with the rich seasonings, it made one of the best shellfish dishes I've ever had.
The décor references the Suez Canal, the Mediterranean & the Red Sea, & the regional flavours elevate the experience a step further, making this a unique dining experience on the West Island.
This is a place we want to return to, & we definitely will. There were four of us, we ordered a little bit of everything, & absolutely every dish was incredibly delicious. I don't usually eat spicy food, but even the spicy shrimp were incredibly tasty. I managed to take just two photos. The service was excellent, especially the guy named Ahmed & the girl Sarah, who were always very attentive to our requests. & of course, I forgot my purse in the restaurant, & Sarah brought it to me all the way to the parking lot. Thank you so much ❤?
Overall it's good, the shrimp was a little overcooked & bland. The calamari was tasty as were the fries. Fried & steamed fish was good as well, forgot the name of the fish. Service was great, nice servers. Oh octopus had a weird texture but tasted good.
This place exceeded our expectations, simply exquisite! We've been going to Rayan all this time & I'm so happy to have found this place. It's sooooo much better. Every dish was delicious, my favorite being the spicy grilled shrimp & grilled octopus. Already looking forward to our next visit.

I had an incredibly enjoyable dining experience at Restaurant Le Canal! The dishes were absolutely delightful: the fresh seafood was cooked to perfection, especially the grilled shrimp & octopus, which were perfectly seasoned with a lovely blend of herbs & seafood flavors in every bite. The fried small fish were crispy & delicious, & the lemon added a refreshing zest. The salad was fresh & well-seasoned, offering a crisp & pleasant taste. The restaurant was clean & tidy, & the service was warm & attentive. The overall atmosphere was cozy & relaxing, making it a great choice for family dinners or gatherings with friends. Highly recommended!
Follow this tip & save time - call & reserve your table for dine in! Arrived at around 6pm on a Friday & it was packed to the brim, immediately placed our name on the wait-list. Greeted with the melodious recitation of the Quran, I'm confident that the food will be served high quality as Muslims with business are only supposed to serve the best to their customers, rest assured. Around 20mins later got seats & the table was prepared promptly. Headed down to the seafood display area, great variety of fishes & seafood, tempting anyone with a huge appetite. You pick your seafood & they will cook this up to your choice. Ordered the salmon (grilled), scallops (grilled with butter & herbs), fries with this really lovely sour cream ish flavor, branzino (deep fried) to perfection, shrimp (with spicy sauce) & yellow rice. We smashed them within minutes, they were all so good especially the shrimp with spicy sauce & the deep fried branzino. There is an equivalent concept to this in NYC called Abuqir but we believe this restaurant Le Canal is cleaner, more organized, bigger dining area & to be honest the flavors were better. No need to mention HALAL here since in the Quran it is mentioned "Lawful to you is what you catch from the sea & use for food as provision for yourself & the travelers".
Poisons & fruits de mers préparé suite à la sélection. Le plat de pieuvre est un de meilleur jamais goûter. Le calamar & shrimp étaient excellent. Le toute était délicieux . Mais ce que je ne comprends pas est que le merlin coute plus chère que les shrimps. Vous pouvez voir dans la photo c'était 6 .

The grilled octopus is absolutely phenomenal! I also had the tiger shrimps, & the salad/sauce on the bottom tasted like heaven. Highly, highly recommend this place!
I recently visited this restaurant for the second time in a while. It makes a huge difference when you have a manager who is passionate introducing you to the options & tastes with their recommendations. Plus when they have fun doing it, you can see the vibe reciprocate into the quality & value of the food. Definitely the best seafood place as of recent that i have visited if you want a sit down or take out for traditional high quality Mediterranean. I had Calamari, mussels, grilled shrimp & shrimp soup. The calamari were thick & juicy (not over fried or bottom of the pan quality). The shrimp baste was amazing with the mussel lemon garlic. Will definitely return.
This place is far & away from those tourist spots in Montreal but YOU MUST TRY HERE! It's a hidden jam. You basically choose what seafood you want to eat & let them know the size by pound. They will ask whether to grill them or fry, they are all your choice. You can look at the prices online & decide. We ordered half pound shrimp & octopus, a whole seabass, small rice & grilled veggies. Everything was so amazing & price was perfect too. Our portion was really for 3-4 people but we (2) wanted to try different things. It was a lot of food for two ppl but we still ate them all 😂 we were super full at the end but came back home with happy stomach. The owner & everyone else were so kind & friendly.💖
