Originally from a port city on the Mediterranean has its reputation of seafood meal we have to meet the high expectations that it comes with the name CANAL.
Le Canal est largement salué pour ses fruits de mer ultra frais, une carte variée et flexible et une ambiance chaleureuse et familiale qui met les clients à l'aise que ce soit sur place ou à emporter; le système au comptoir permet de choisir les fruits de mer au poids et de les faire préparer sur place, avec de nombreux plats salués pour leur saveur, leur qualité et leurs portions généreuses à un prix raisonnable; l'ambiance est décontractée et animée aux heures d'affluence, il est donc conseillé de réserver, le personnel est régulièrement décrit comme aimable et attentif, et l'expérience globale est souvent présentée comme délicieuse, fraîche et bien présentée.
I recently visited this restaurant for the second time in a while. It makes a huge difference when you have a manager who is passionate introducing you to the options & tastes with their recommendations. Plus when they have fun doing it, you can see the vibe reciprocate into the quality & value of the food. Definitely the best seafood place as of recent that i have visited if you want a sit down or take out for traditional high quality Mediterranean. I had Calamari, mussels, grilled shrimp & shrimp soup. The calamari were thick & juicy (not over fried or bottom of the pan quality). The shrimp baste was amazing with the mussel lemon garlic. Will definitely return.
This place is far & away from those tourist spots in Montreal but YOU MUST TRY HERE! It's a hidden jam. You basically choose what seafood you want to eat & let them know the size by pound. They will ask whether to grill them or fry, they are all your choice. You can look at the prices online & decide. We ordered half pound shrimp & octopus, a whole seabass, small rice & grilled veggies. Everything was so amazing & price was perfect too. Our portion was really for 3-4 people but we (2) wanted to try different things. It was a lot of food for two ppl but we still ate them all 😂 we were super full at the end but came back home with happy stomach. The owner & everyone else were so kind & friendly.💖

Hands down one of the best restaurants in Montreal. Everything is so fresh, seasoned & cooked to perfection. I recommend the grilled octopus & the scallops. The grilled shrimp are also great. Honestly, this is some of the best seafood I've ever had. The service is also very quick & friendly!
We ran into this hidden gem by accident & we were tremendously surprised, everything was delicious, we had grilled tiger shrimp (the best I've ever had), fried calamari, fish & chips & salmon, every dish was better than the previous one... great food, great service, impeccably clean & on top of that reasonable prices.
Outstanding, Outstanding, Outstanding!!!!! If you want authentic Egyptian seafood or the best seafood you ever had, this is the place to be. When you walk in, the fresh seafood is right there on the counter over ice, you pick what you want & have it grilled of fried. Grilled or fried, you can't go wrong. The season the fish with wonderful Egyptians spices. I recommend the octopus gilled, the jumbo tiger shrimp & seabass grilled with veg. We also ordered the seafood soup & it was also incredible. The décor is nothing outstanding but who cares, the food is what you are there for. Don't think twice, reserve your spot & go.
Food is fresh, the staff is friendly & the whole atmosphere feels very welcoming. Amazing establishement. One thing for sure, I will come back for the grilled shrimps!

Best grilled shrimp I have ever had. Great healthy options. Dine-in experience is great, especially for a nice family meal. Pick up can sometimes have a very long wait time. Salmon filets were a bit overcooked.
