The wait time was extremely long, especially in the cold, & table turnover was very slow even though some tables were already empty. Groups that arrived later were seated before people waiting in groups of one or two, which felt unfair. The bacon was very hard & overcooked, & the scrambled eggs didn't taste fresh. Loved the pancakes tho.
L'Avenue delivers an exceptional dining experience that is both refined & memorable. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, attentive, & impeccably professional, creating an atmosphere that felt both welcoming & refined. Service was seamless-prompt without ever feeling rushed, & thoughtful without being intrusive. From the very first sip to the final bite, every element reflected thoughtful craftsmanship & impeccable quality.
We began with the detox drinks, which were remarkably invigorating-crisp, well-balanced, & wonderfully refreshing. They cleansed the palate while setting a vibrant tone for the meal ahead.
The Bobby Discovers Istanbul was a true standout. The poached eggs were executed with remarkable precision, boasting a luxuriously delicate texture & flawless consistency. Each bite was rich, aromatic, & layered with depth, easily ranking among the finest poached egg dishes I've encountered. The chicken patties complemented the dish beautifully-succulent, expertly seasoned, & cooked to tender perfection, offering both comfort & sophistication.
To conclude, the Strawberry Nocciolata pancakes were nothing short of indulgent. Impossibly light, airy, & exquisitely spongy, they melted effortlessly with every forkful. The harmonious blend of fresh strawberries & nocciolata created a decadent yet balanced sweetness that elevated the dish to an unforgettable finale.
L'Avenue excels in delivering bold flavors, refined textures, & an elevated culinary experience. A truly outstanding establishment.
This is a fabulous restaurant for a brunch. The food is out of this world. We had the eggs Benedict with steak & the eggs Benedict with truffles & duck. Portions are large! I can't describe how delicious this was. The service was incredible considering how busy the staff is. This is the place to go for brunch for sure.
An amazing experience from start to finish. L'Avenue is without a doubt one of the best spots for brunch in Montréal. The atmosphere is vibrant, colorful, & full of energy, with super-cool decor & friendly, fast service even when the place is packed.
The eggs Benedict were absolutely outstanding
We were a group of 4 & had an amazing experience at l'Avenue. It is SO worth the hype! It was the first time for two of us & the other two were returning customers. First of all let me just say the bloody caesar was perfect & exactly how it should be, I just don't understand why most restaurants can't get it right. I had the eggs benny with duck confit & truffle which was so rich & delicious, my friends ordered the shakshuka, & a melty egg, ham & cheese toast dish & the'undecisive'. Everyone loved what they ordered & there were no leftovers haha. Cody was our server & he made sure we were well taken care of. Actually we kind of had a small interaction with most of the staff & everyone was super friendly & made you feel like you are regulars! We felt very special & had the best day. Also worth mentioning the cool vibe of the restaurant.
Have lived in the area for five years now, & we just keep returning to L'avenue. It's become our favourite brunch spot. The portions are so generous, & it's a super comfy place! Don't believe the other reviews that this is a tourist trap-it's a super high quality brunch place, & one of the absolute best on Notre Dame Ouest. We always get the St Ambroise eggs Benedict & the « I'll have it all », which reminds me a lot of a full English breakfast. Phenomenal!!
A must-try brunch place for anyone visiting Montréal & a regular brunch favorite of mine. As a fan of eggs benedict the steak & eggs is fantastic with a side of their iced oatmilk latte.
Good brunch food at a good price. Tried one of the eggs benedict & it was good. One of the good brunch places in Montreal.
You come out full. Service was a little slow & music can be loud.
Out of town/country foodie review - The experience begins with a line outside; there's no formal check-in, as the host comes out to take names & party sizes. We arrived on a Sunday around 10:30 AM & were seated by 10:55 AM, which felt like a reasonable wait.
However, I was disappointed by the food & lack of communication regarding new menu items. The menu clearly advertised fresh additions, yet our server didn't mention any of them until we were actively placing our orders. This happened twice: first with the iced strawberry matcha during the drink order, & again with the'Bobby Explores Japan' dish when ordering food. In my opinion, new offerings, or lack thereof in this case, should be highlighted at the start of the dining experience, not as an afterthought. We waited roughly 45 minutes to receive our 2 items: the Huevos Rancheros & the Classic Eggs (eggs, meat, & potatoes). I asked for soft scrambled & it came out hard.
As for the food, it was fine, but nothing particularly memorable or unique. We ordered the vanilla iced matcha, but it didn't live up to expectations. The vanilla & sugar were simply dusted on the rim, & the matcha itself was noticeably watered down, lacking the rich flavor & depth we were hoping for.
Great place. Maybe a tad expensive for their fancy plates but their regular 2 eggs toast+meat is legit. Their homemade sausage is good, & the breakfast comes with beans. I'll come back for sure.
We went to L'Avenue & tried four dishes. Most of the food was really good, but the overall experience wasn't great. We waited in line for over an hour, & even after getting a table, it took more than 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Service was super slow, maybe because it was just a busy day, but it definitely made the visit frustrating.
The Steak & Eggs were easily the best thing on the table. The eggs were perfectly runny, the ribeye was tender, & the hollandaise sauce was rich & flavorful. Bobby Does Dallas was also very good. The eggs were fluffy, the beef was juicy, & the sweet caramelized onions really stood out.
We also had the Red Shakshuka. The flavor was nice, & the labneh & feta added a creamy touch. It came with naan bread at first, which didn't really go well with the dish, but we got it with baguette instead & that worked much better. Honestly, pita would've been the perfect match.
The Strawberry Nocciolata looked amazing & had lots of toppings, but the taste was just okay. Not bad, but definitely not something I'd rush to order again.
Overall, the food was mostly great but the service & wait time were rough. If you go, make sure you're not in a hurry.
Breakfast portions are VERY large. I enjoyed my eggs & steak Benedict very much. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection. The side of bacon was also good. The mango mimosa was also very good. Unfortunately, the sausage was really dry, & I would not order it again. The place was not so loud that we needed to shout to be heard, although the music WAS loud enough to hear, & was pleasant to listen to while eating. They have 3 unisex bathrooms, with one having a baby changing table.
It's really too bad. My fiance already wrote the place off but decided to give it another try since I wanted the blueberry ricotta pancakes. I had to get up to go ask for a coffee refill, 10m after i had already asked someone while i was seated. His eggs were just about over hard when he asked for over easy. It took forever to get our food. Forever even to stop our waiter to pay our bill. Our waiter said how busy it was the 3x he came to the table. Sure the place was full but there was no line up, they were clearly understaffed for a Monday that most people took the day off. Still... for the price of breakfast these days, it felt like we wasted 60$.
UPDATE 2024:
Sad to be reporting this place is no longer gluten friendly. It's rare I've seen a restaurant regress on offerings like this, but the potatoes now have gluten in their seasoning & they've removed the gluten free bread. The last photo is what I was able to eat 😅 unfortunately won't be swinging by here anymore.

2022:
Wow - this place is worth the hype !
Showed up on a Sunday just after noon with three friends & didn't have too long of a wait (maybe 15mins).
The servers were very knowledgeable regarding the menu & were able to point out all they could modify for my gluten + dairy allergy. I do wish they were just a little more present on the floor as we could have used more coffee haha.
Personally, I ordered the shakshuka with gluten free toast, it came with a side of potatoes & the whole thing was sooo tasty.
Two friends got the pecan French toast & said it tasted like a pecan pie. They highly recommended it. The last friend got the eggs Benny, she found it so delicious & filling she took the second half home.
Would 100% come by here again.
A very good place for brunch. I tried the pistachio latte, the eggs Benedict & both were good. The music is too loud though !
Loved the food at L'Avenue! Went as a party of two around 11 AM & we didn't have to wait very long at all, though we saw larger parties having to wait for a while. Got the Indecisive Sticky Toffee Pudding Pancakes & a latte & both were delicious (the breakfast potatoes & the scrambled eggs were especially good). Highly recommend for a good brunch!
I love Montreal
It's in a cool hip area
Food was great
Service was amazing
People were so nice
Affordable
I have some Indian egg dishe. It was great
The tiramisu french toast was delicious. But more of a dessert then a meal
I'm not a fan of franchises, but L'Avenue offered a wide variety of food & beverage options, unlike the monotonous choices of eggs & other common items that can be found everywhere, even at home. This allowed me to experience different flavors & cuisines, at least for a few visits. So, I'll give them credit for that. I saw friendly staff & quality of presentation in our visit.
Between the portions we had I liked the Rib-eye stake avocado & hot chocolate was basic.
Food is superb!!!!! Probably the best breakfast I've ever had. Organic eggs, Dubai French toast, fresh cream. I mean omg! Server was so nice & welcoming. Highly recommend!
