Review Summary

Restaurant Kung Fu is widely recognized as a downtown destination offering affordable, generous portions of Chinese cuisine, particularly praised for its diverse selection of delicious, fresh dumplings and spring rolls. Many patrons highlight the friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and flexible late-night hours as major benefits, making it a reliable spot for budget-friendly dining. While the majority of feedback is glowing, some visitors have noted inconsistencies in food quality, specific ingredient ratios, or occasional operational issues regarding posted hours. Despite these isolated concerns, the consensus among many regulars is that the restaurant provides great value for the price and remains a cozy, go-to location for satisfying comfort food in Montreal.

We ordered the peanut butter dumplings, which came with six pieces. Since we were three people, each of us only had one piece before realizing they were way too oily & not enjoyable. When we told the waiter, they said they could not accept it back, which was disappointing because we barely touched the order.

We also ordered the orange chicken, but it was mostly fried batter & not much actual chicken. Overall, the food was disappointing, & the way the situation was handled made the experience worse.

Amazing dumplings! Lots of options! The prices are amazing & reasonable for filling, tasty food. I got pan fried chicken dumpling & they were awesome. Our group of four walked-in & grabbed the last available table. The dining area is smaller, mostly designed for groups of 2-4 but there was a larger party of 10 when we arrived. I recommend getting a reservation if you have a larger party.

Cheap spot for dumplings, but honestly the quality was disappointing. I tried the fried chicken dumplings & they felt hard & dry, almost like they had been sitting there for a long time & were reheated instead of freshly made. The texture really ruined the experience for me.

The place itself is very small, so I ended up taking the food home instead of eating there. I don't expect luxury from a casual dumpling place, but I still expect fresh food at least.

Maybe I just came on a bad day, but based on this visit I probably wouldn't come back.

The service was fast, the food was ok. It's not the best Chinese American food I had in mtl. The fried rice was good. The sauce for the general Tao was ok. I'm just not super impressed with this place. I might go back to tried the dim sum.

Service was great. Food... not so much. Ordered beef with broccoli & it's more like broccoli, onion with beef & overpowering flavor of garlic from a jar. It wasn't good at all. Neither of us ate it, we ended up taking it to go & it ended up in the trash unfortunately. The fried dumplings were okay & the prices are reasonable however I won't be returning.

Quite an enjoyable meal! The lunch special offers excellent value-it included a main dish & a choice of soup, either wonton soup or hot & sour soup. The wonton soup featured shrimp wontons, & it was absolutely delicious. I loved the stir-fried beef rice noodles-the flavor was incredible, with perfectly stir-fried ingredients. The fried dumplings were amazing as well. At the end of the meal, they even gave us fortune cookies & fresh orange slices. They also served water infused with lemon, which was a nice touch. Everything was fantastic!

Food was extremely salty for the whole table we were a group of 8 & we all had a bad experience Its too bad If it was not for the hyper salty food it would have been good Fried rice, different kind of noodles Plates went back at least once We had some dietary restrictions & we appreciated that they accommodated everyone with their restrictions

two stars: 1 for service, 1 for price we were 2 ppl & ordered the siu mai, in addition to the wonton soup ($5.50) & cantonese chow mein lunch special ($13.50). the siu mai & wontons were SO small, i was shocked. especially considering the dim sum dish is min. $5.50 & only came wih 4 small pieces. i expected the cantonese chow mein to have crispy fried noodles & instead it was super drenched & soggy with sauce. it had nice presentation (which i didn't get a photo of) with plenty of toppings, but was subpar overall. unfortunately, we do not plan on returning.
