Terrible service & cold food. Deserves LESS than 0 stars.
My boyfriend & I came in a little before 12:15 a.m. & there were already several people eating. We sat down & ordered 2 teas, 1 beer, 1 wonton soup, & an order of dumplings.
Everything came to our table EXCEPT the dumplings.
We waited… & waited. Meanwhile, new customers were coming in, ordering, & receiving their food. Around 1:00 a.m., the waitress came to our table with the bill & made us pay for everything, including the dumplings we NEVER received.
My boyfriend pointed this out to her, saying,'We did not receive this item.' She responded by saying something about the boss telling her to make us pay. At first, I thought maybe they were closing soon & wanted everyone to leave.
NOPE. They close at 3:30 a.m.
New customers were STILL coming in & ordering, while the people who had been there before us were still sitting there & hadn't even been given their bills.
At that point, it was pretty obvious that we were not being treated like welcomed customers, so we simply asked to take the dumplings to go, since we got charged for them already.
& then it got even worse.
We tried the dumplings in the car around 1:15 am, & some were hot/warm while others were completely cold, like they had been sitting there frozen or had been improperly reheated. How can you serve the same order with some dumplings hot & others literally cold ?! They had more than 45 minutes to make it…
Absolutely unacceptable. The service was terrible, we were charged for food we never received at first, & the food itself was not even properly heated.
I strongly recommend avoiding this place. There are plenty of other restaurants where you can spend your money & actually be treated with basic respect & receive food that is properly prepared.
Worst experience. Save your money & go somewhere else.
If you are looking for good Chinese food for a great price in the middle of downtown then this is the place. Can't go wrong with the general tso's chicken & fried rice & the dumplings are pretty great too. Come here when you want a chill night with good friends & be nice to the staff, they work hard to give fast service.
Perfect hole in the wall late night Chinese resto. They made delicious vegetarian dumplings for me (comes with chili oil) & I also enjoyed the fresh hot sesame balls. Lemon iced tea was good too. Perfect after salsa dancing!
Super experience at Resto Kung Fu. The staff is really nice & the kitchen staff always smiling. I ordered the beef brocolli very nice flavour & the star was the chicken steam dumplings w peanut sauce. WOW!!! The prices are reasonable & the quality of ingredients is there. Also clean dining area & kitchen which i love to see.
Staying in the building above for a week, I went to this place everyday.
The vegetarian dumplings are amazing.. no doubt. But I tried the salt & pepper tofu which was so hard, my jaw started to hurt. It was also felt bland & extremely dry.
The service is weird.. there's one person who is extremely rude that she kind of ruins it for everyone else. The kitchen staff almost always seemed to be arguing or discussing within themselves. I am vegetarian (religion & personal reasons) & the chef/server gave me pork/chicken dumplings today. When I went to ask since I just thought the filling looked different they were like oh, we make new for you. Like seriously.. & you want tip!!
We ordered the peanut butter dumplings, which came with six pieces. Since we were three people, each of us only had one piece before realizing they were way too oily & not enjoyable. When we told the waiter, they said they could not accept it back, which was disappointing because we barely touched the order.
We also ordered the orange chicken, but it was mostly fried batter & not much actual chicken. Overall, the food was disappointing, & the way the situation was handled made the experience worse.
Dumplings are awesome, try different ones. Sweet buns with yolk are just awesome. We tried almost everything & all was perfect. Ask for chilli sauce for extra spicy. Prices are very very affordable. & staff is very friendly.
Amazing dumplings! Lots of options! The prices are amazing & reasonable for filling, tasty food. I got pan fried chicken dumpling & they were awesome. Our group of four walked-in & grabbed the last available table. The dining area is smaller, mostly designed for groups of 2-4 but there was a larger party of 10 when we arrived. I recommend getting a reservation if you have a larger party.
