Really flavourful food with reasonable prices.
We ordered samosas 🤤, fish pakora (an absolute MUST), the always-satisfying butter chicken, a couple of vegetarian options (aloo gobi, channa - both delicious), & naan (so soft & buttery). Portions aren't huge, but they're filling.
& lil tip: if you're spice-averse, make sure to ask for mild. Medium spice was way spicier than I expected, & I like spicy food.
The food is incredible! I ordered the non-veg thali & it was excellent-very generous portions, especially for the price. The staff is extremely kind & welcoming, & the chutneys are delicious, especially the tamarind. Run, don't walk!
Best restaurant in Montreal for Indian food veg & non veg brunch, lunch dinner, best price best food quality best atmosphere
As an indian & a punjabi, my honest opinion on kuljit's is quite simply lackluster. Their approach to the authencity of the cuisine is that of cutting corners. Now,are the dishes representative of the culture? Somewhat.very vaguely does your palate associate their dhals with the homely taste that is custom across the board. Their non vegetarian dishes have a certain gaminess. this is evident of a lack of proper methodology. The cherry on top, the service is very cold & distant. Not genuine to how things are done in the old country. Overrall, it's an imitation of a punjabi eatery. Why bother when there are so many more better options, a mere stone's throw away.
Although the decor is basic, it's well worth a visit for the food. Our party of 3 shared Saag Paneer, Channa & Vegetable Biryani & took home leftovers. The service was prompt & friendly. We agreed that there are many more dishes to be ordered on future visits.
I'm a vegetarian & could vouch only for that. We tried, garlic naan, butter naan(which were hard to chew), & being a South Indian, requested spicy curries, but still they were not anywhere being near. Sorry for the harsh review, but the food was not as expected as my friend's recommendation.
Tried the veg & non veg thali. Both delicious & fresh. The food is not overly greasy. Service is fine. Was lucky to arrive early for lunch because by 12:45 it was packed. Prices are very reasonable & portions are generous. I would love to try more of the menu. Recommended if you're in the area
This is like our regular go to place. Whenever we think of homely Indian food , we feel like visiting Kuljit India. I never felt the necessity of putting my review for them , but during our recent visit we were so overwhelmed by the impeccable taste of fish pakora that I took a vow to post my review. It was super tasty, tender from inside & crispy from outside. Their chole bhature, paneer butter masala, mixed veg, lamb seekh kebab, lamb korma, lamb karahi, paratha worth mentioning for the delicious taste & satisfying quantity. They serve refreshing mango lassi as well. You have option of BYOD too. All the staffs are welcoming & polite. Though they have moderate sitting arrangement but the good part is it's not congested & free parking is available. Anytime is good time to enjoy their food.
Quite a homely feeling both in terms of food & ambiance. I have visited twice in last three weeks with my family & we all enjoyed their hospitality. We are vegetarian & can recommend those with full accountability.
We had a fantastic & extremely satisfying lunch at this family-owned restaurant serving a variety of vegetarian & non-vegetarian traditional North Indian dishes since 2005. Honestly, we absolutely loved everything we ordered. From our pictures, it seems like we didn't order much food, especially since we shared it between three people, but trust us, it was very filling.
We visited this place for a quick lunch. Ordered veg & non veg thali. The veg thali was awesome tasty & very hot. The naan bread was so soft. However, the lamb curry in the non veg thali was very bad. It had a very bad taste. The veg thali had daal which was soooooo good. Baingan bartha (burnt aubergine curry) was also very nice. Paid 30$ in total. Okay for a one time visit. Family owned place was neat & brightly lit.
Amazing food but workers don’t seem to understand you over the phone. I ordered vegetable pakora (fritter) but received fish pakora which costed me extra.
Family runned Indian restaurant. I ordered the butter chicken combo which was excellent. (non-vegetarian thali = assortment of naan, rice, butter chicken is $1 extra , small salad & an extra order of naan)
The chicken birianai was ok. They have been around forever & has good food for a group of people to share if you are new & want to experiment new flavours.
